Lmao, is the violent twitching a positive thing or a negative thing? :p
PS1 has really long loading times, but other than that I guess it's just between if you like consoles or handhelds more! GBA also has a more accurate translation, but it's not too noticeable. Thanks! <3 FE is probably my fav series and the Tellius games (9/10) are my favourite games ever! That sounds amazing, I will def try it! It seems like it's available for SNES, GBA and PSone...which is the best version to try??
The PS1 version has some cool FMVs added to it but the load times are pretty slow so most say to avoid it, I think people recommend the GBA version the most, but the SNES version has it's pros too. I guess go with the one that is easiest for you to pick up out of those two. Thanks! <3 FE is probably my fav series and the Tellius games (9/10) are my favourite games ever! It literally happens in-game. The sprite will twitch, usually grabbing its shoulders.

No problem! Come visit us in the FF OT if you enjoy it :DThanks for the input ladies! I'll probs try the gba or SNES version!
We are so proud to present our first collaborative project: THE GIRL GANG GIF CHALLENGE!
Over 50 women from all over the globe answered the call to create an animated gif inspired by their favorite fictional female, trans, or non-binary character.
Can't say I agree with either of you, but FF6 is still a fantastic game and certainly one of the best in each of those categories.
also one of the most boring tbhCan't say I agree with either of you, but FF6 is still a fantastic game and certainly one of the best in each of those categories.
I can't think of a single FF game that doesn't have some seriously boring stretches in it

Yeah. I went in there with big intentions but after reading just a page, I just couldn't deal with it and left. So exhausting. Turns out I just don't have the spoons for it anymore. This is why I avoided this thread. I just don't have the energy to engage these buffoons.
Well, that's quite fitting, because Terra is rather boring in FFVI, but Celes is awesome in it. :)I've still haven't played VI but every time I've seen Terra in any of the spinoff games (WoFF, Dissidia, etc.), she always comes as an incredibly boring character. Celes on the other hand was pretty awesome in World of FF.
Um excuse me, this is her clothing expressing her personality, and it's all about the importance of the silhouette; how are you supposed to tell the female character apart from the male ones without massive jiggling tits and a playboy bunny pose?? Puhhhleeeze stop policing women's clothing choices (that were likely made by male designers). It's pretty much sexist to *not* take her seriously because of her clothing and body type! Wow, so much for body positivity! I guess the only people who *really* respect women are the otaku.
I haven't played any Final Fantasy game, but I've been interested in the series for a while. Someone in that thread posted some of the female protagonists from FF6 and they looked really cool, have any of you played FF6? Is it worth trying, it will be my first FF. How is the writing?
This design is just too cool
I've heard that's one of the biggest problems with the GBA version, is that they made it too easy. However, a lot of times I felt meh about it. One is the game being so easy, that it feels like routine going through the battles. FFV was more challenging and it engaged me more because of it. Another is probably my expectations being too high based on all the hype the game received prior to playing it.
So, I know FF6 isn't the first to do it, but it really is the one for me where all of the characters started to feel same-y. I think of it has to do with the magic system, where everyone can learn every spell, and magic is far and away the most useful thing in the endgame (barring ridiculous things like X-Strike with Atma Weapon). It feels like, even though there are a lot more characters, your party setup doesn't really matter, unlike with, say, FF4, where every character is very distinct.I've completed the game (GBA) and feel mixed about it. It is really impressive with the things that it has: many multiple party members, the way the last hours were handled, the amount of story for a snes game, music, content etc.

I honestly can't tell if FFVI is a good entry point as a first FF game. It's difficult to recommend a first FF to start with because they're all so different. But maybe FFX could be a good FF game to start with if you enjoy pure turn based RPGs.
Persephone made a thread about sexualization in games, really well written, as per usual https://www.resetera.com/threads/why-women-criticise-sexualised-character-designs.4483/
I find a lot of the comments tiring and don't have the energy to debate this right now, but kudos to Pirate Bae, your posts were exactly what I wanted to say.
It's weird how straight men can't differentiate between objectification and sexualization and go to such absurd lengths to defend it, despite women constantly telling them that it's harmful and degrading. The number of posters who bring up "but women like to cosplay these sexy designs, you don't speak for all women"'in order to dismiss the OP....talk about missing the point. You can like a thing but also be critical of it.
I also find it annoying when they bring up examples of "sexualized" men? For me personally, I never viewed sexualized men and women equally because of the experiences of gender being different in regards to real world objectification and social context. Women are actually objectified in the real world to a wider degree where not a single woman I've met hasn't been harassed in some way by a dude. Men hardly, if ever experience this by a woman. Sexualizing women feeds into that societal problem, which largely doesn't exist for men to the same degree, so I never understood the comparisons. The guy who brought up romance novels seemed very tone deaf in that regard imo.
This is why I avoided this thread. I just don't have the energy to engage these buffoons.

I don't either. :( Just reading the responses is so disheartening. Sometimes I feel like men would rather talk to each other about what women think than actually listen to any of us.

Do you guys mind if I quote some of your posts saying you are avoiding the thread (I can remove the usernames), just to show the rest of ERA what it's like for women to read threads like these?
I would do that only to show that no, it's not just "4 radical fringe feminists on an internet forum" who are exasperated by this topic, by showing that many DO care but just can't be arsed to engage in further debate.

I like this idea. I haven't posted about avoiding the thread, but I definitely hold the same thoughts as others in that it is just detrimental to my mental health to discuss it. It's just an endless circle of non-empathetic men shouting their biased opinions as to where they do not have the nerve to accept that they might be wrong.Do you guys mind if I quote some of your posts saying you are avoiding the thread (I can remove the usernames), just to show the rest of ERA what it's like for women to read threads like these?

I also tend to avoid posting in threads like that. They're always filled with guys trying to shut down the women talking about their issues with female representation in games while using other women as a shield. That thread is no different.Do you guys mind if I quote some of your posts saying you are avoiding the thread (I can remove the usernames), just to show the rest of ERA what it's like for women to read threads like these?

Thanks for the link! I may check that out just for myself to pass on one day, but it probably wouldn't work for giving copies to my siblings. A handwritten one would be great tho- that's one of the things my grandmother left us and it's a wonderful keepsake.I didnt, but a mother of our kids bought a book preprinted where you could write down your recipes. Looked very lovely, with little advices on every page.
Also I think that hand written gives it a special note when it comes to recipe collections.

I've used Shutterfly before to print photobooks and my digital scrapbook stuff, but didn't even think about it for a recipe book. I'll also need to check out snapfish. Thanks! My sister-in-law did one for all the family Christmas cookies that get made every year since the handwritten ones were getting worn out. She took a picture of the recipe card, and took a picture of the finished cookies on a nice plate and used Snapfish or Shutterfly to make books for all her siblings. She even put together a shopping list at the back for making each cookie.
If you notice, all the women have ditched the thread for the most part. Happens all the time, unfortunately.
I didn't even bother to click into it. I know I'll just get angry. I'm always teetering between wanting to contribute to the conversation and have my voice head, and being too damn tired/afraid to share. It gets tiring constantly having to defend yourself, but I know I'm preaching to the choir here.
Just wanted to chime in: if you're considering Shutterfly, try Zno. I think the latter has much higher quality.
Sorry, I gotta keep shilling for Zno on this one. Will take pics of the one I got later; the quality really blows away anything else at that price range. It's like (low tier) wedding album quality.

This is beautiful. Thank you for this. :)I mean, how can you expect guys to listen to what actual women here think when they can't even manage to talk about women in a way that doesn't make them sound like zoologists observing and bemusedly discussing with each other the irrational animalistic behaviour of a lower species. (But hey, they "love females", so how could it possibly be about showing hatred and disgust for women in the form of a lack o
