This seems like a direct port. None of Sega's tweets mentions this as an HD port.

dual audio, new controls, 16:9, new controls etc annoucned

I wish this was a bannable offence.

1) Why does he have to piss on a bunch of extremely happy fans celebrating a modern day re-release of a huge cult classic? Talk about being a dick.

2) Yeah, in your opinion. Many more cherish and love the game. But you know this, which is why you're just looking for attention with your shitpost in a celebratory thread with the usual "*smirk these games were never good anyway* bullshit.

Tell me one of your favorite games and I'm sure we can pointlessly trash them too!

I played it for the first time a couple of years ago and while I appreciated how great it must have been for its time, I don't think it holds up. I'm still willing to give it a second shot. But yeah, Yakuza is ages better than Shenmue.
Can't say anything about the newer Yakuzas, but when it comes to 1 and 2 at least, absolutely not.

Well i'm fucking happy :)

Only played a few hours of the first one back in the day at a friend's house but i never owned a Dreamcast. Tried to emulate it later but never got it to run well.

I don't even care about the graphics, just wanna finally play the games.

Times like this I wish Sony made a Vita 2. I don't have time to play anything on PS4 sadly.

I CANT WAIT TO WASTE ALL MY MONEY ON OUTRUN IN THE ARCADE AND CURVE NOZOMI

it's the Ryo way™

Yep, it just took like 7-8 years of yelling. :lol

haha - for real! sega's equivalent of the mother fanbase

To be honest, it won't be the same without the loud disc reading noises. XD

How about the VMU "you aint go no battery" noise every time you turn on the game!!!

yeahhhh...we're gonna have to make do, but i'm legit gonna miss these things, nevermind the passport disc

And the Dreamcast randomly resetting.

wait are you sure your DC wasn't boned? that wasn't supposed to happen!

It holds up fine. The sense of adventure, of unraveling a mystery, of tinkering with stupid nothingness and getting lost for hours looking through drawers in some flower shop, of listening to amazing music and exploring a realistic world, and of kicking people in the face hasn't aged. Yeah the Forklift crap sucks. But damn I love everything else and Shenmue II is fantastic from start to finish.
I'm like 90% sure that the forklift taught me to have a good work ethic, lol.

Keep it in and just fix the controls.

Why the hell are people arguing over whether or not it's an HD port? It is BY DEFINITION an HD Port. Why are people mixing up "HD" with "remake"? It ran at like 480i on Dreamcast and is now running in HD. It's literally Shenmue HD.

Shenmue HD, I knew you'd come!

I'm glad I stopped playing the first one at the warehouse job last year when the rumors started to appear. I can't wait to dive back in.

Original graphics are fine. I don't use the word "charm" often but this is one case where I will. The graphics, the gameplay, the voice acting, the music, the entire setting. It's a complete package the way it is. There really is something special to the combination of all these factors in these games. If any part was changed too much I fear that would be lost. Please give these games a chance if you've never played them before.

I am not saying a full remake should never be attempted. But I will absolutely take the sure bet of this definitive edition of the original games over a remake that may very well fail to match the magical feel of the originals.

After this release has been out for a while, then go ahead and attempt a remake if you want. But that would be a separate product, so at least for now, I think this release is appropriate.

Yes, and it felt a little bit better but still very dated and a product of its time. When playing both titles I got the feeling that "you had to be there", that I was missing out on something special that could not be replicated so many years after their heyday. As a massive Final Fantasy fan, I fear that I'd get the same feeling if I was to start playing FFXI today. Feels bad. But that doesn't stop me from looking forward to Shenmue III, assuming that one is going to feel modern and not just exclusively a product for people with nostalgic ties to the first two games.

Forklift stuff was amazing to me, but agreed on everything else. I never played much of Shenmue 2 for whatever reason. Finally now I get to complete this. Tbh I just cannot wait to get lost in Shenmue 1 again. That music, winter. Small Japanese town. I've always literally wanted to be Ryo, if I could go back in time and be a Japanese teenager in mid to late 80s.. I would. Thanks to Shenmue! :P

A decade worth of campaigning done with. Fuck. Some people don't appreciate the history behind getting here, let alone Shenmue III in 2015.

The music, the exploration, the world, the characters and the story are all amazing when combined together. Shenmue is unique and it's unreal to see them finally getting re-released. Can't wait to play them on current hardware.

Sadly that it won't get a Switch Release.
It's my main platform and I can play games with that scale best on my Switch and should be technical possible.
But good move from SEGA to release it before the 3rd one for some bucks
