1) Why does he have to piss on a bunch of extremely happy fans celebrating a modern day re-release of a huge cult classic? Talk about being a dick.
2) Yeah, in your opinion. Many more cherish and love the game. But you know this, which is why you're just looking for attention with your shitpost in a celebratory thread with the usual "*smirk these games were never good anyway* bullshit.

Can't say anything about the newer Yakuzas, but when it comes to 1 and 2 at least, absolutely not.

Only played a few hours of the first one back in the day at a friend's house but i never owned a Dreamcast. Tried to emulate it later but never got it to run well.
I don't even care about the graphics, just wanna finally play the games.

Original graphics are fine. I don't use the word "charm" often but this is one case where I will. The graphics, the gameplay, the voice acting, the music, the entire setting. It's a complete package the way it is. There really is something special to the combination of all these factors in these games. If any part was changed too much I fear that would be lost. Please give these games a chance if you've never played them before.
I am not saying a full remake should never be attempted. But I will absolutely take the sure bet of this definitive edition of the original games over a remake that may very well fail to match the magical feel of the originals.

Yes, and it felt a little bit better but still very dated and a product of its time. When playing both titles I got the feeling that "you had to be there", that I was missing out on something special that could not be replicated so many years after their heyday. As a massive Final Fantasy fan, I fear that I'd get the same feeling if I was to start playing FFXI today. Feels bad. But that doesn't stop me from looking forward to Shenmue III, assuming that one is going to feel modern and not just exclusively a product for people with nostalgic ties to the first two games.
Shenmue 1's cutscenes were 4:3, actual gameplay screens show Shenmue 1 running at 16:9. Shenmue 2's cutscenes were letterboxed but the trailer didn't show any Shenmue 2 cutscenes, here's hoping they'll be 16:9.

Forklift stuff was amazing to me, but agreed on everything else. I never played much of Shenmue 2 for whatever reason. Finally now I get to complete this. Tbh I just cannot wait to get lost in Shenmue 1 again. That music, winter. Small Japanese town. I've always literally wanted to be Ryo, if I could go back in time and be a Japanese teenager in mid to late 80s.. I would. Thanks to Shenmue! :P
This just balances the universe for us not getting PSO over here anymore. They still got a ways until I love them again, lol.
The forklift job was fun, especially the race. The motorcycle section on the other hand...

Genuine question, what possesses a person to go into a topic about something they don't like? I don't care about God of War and as such have not participated in those topics, curious about the mindset.
The music, the exploration, the world, the characters and the story are all amazing when combined together. Shenmue is unique and it's unreal to see them finally getting re-released. Can't wait to play them on current hardware.
If they fucking put in the disc spinning noise during load screens, I will cry. I really truly mean that, no hyperbole, I will tear up.
Sadly that it won't get a Switch Release.
