Ok people, look if you weren't playing this in 2000 you will probably never understand what this game was like. It had the most mind blowing graphics ever, never seen a world so detailed, hell I think most games still don't reach the level of detail these games have. It was like being in a real living world in a time where experiences like that were still new. Plus it's a badass martial artist simulator who lives his life, goes to work but when he has to kick ass he is all those awesome movie action stars rolled into one.
It's weird as hell. It's slow, it can be boring. Some of the best stuff is just going to an arcade and playing other sega games. And who cares I love it, they don't make weird shit like this anymore.
Its actually easy to forget there isnt a proper way to really play this right now in a modern situation since DC is hella old now, and even the DC emulation for Shenmue is still sketchy. So its still good if its pretty simple port.
It's too bad I already watched a let's play of Shenmue 1. Though to be honest... it didn't look that incredible to me.
Whew... Am I dreaming?
This game's gonna look awesome on my shelf!

I think for a game that came out in 1999 it's quite impressive.
Deadly Premonition reminded me of a Dreamcast game with its graphics and whatnot, but I would not say that Shenmue is similar to it in other way. It's definitely not a weird game like Deadly Premonition.

Shenmue is a revenge tale. In the first game, you basically play the life of a teenager in 1980s suburban Japan. Shenmue 2 then takes you to Hong Kong; I only played the first disc of Shenmue 2 so I can't really speak on it much, but you'll mainly be exploring, talking to NPCs, and occasionally getting into fights. I believe the fighting system in Shenmue is actually based on Virtua Fighter. There's also QTEs, and vehicle sections where you'll be riding a bike and controlling a forklift. What are these games about?
What do you do?
What is the game play like?
Its highly likely if you played it back then you were equally not able to understand/appreciate the game.
Ikr? It pops like crazy. 10/10 box art work.
Yeah, it's really reminiscent of the Dreamcast games.
I hope the box art remains clean like that and doesn't have quotes and feature lists added.
I mean the reason Shen3 is being made is the devotion of fans to want a closure
I remember posting up in my room over spring break 2000 and playing part one with my friend for five days straight lol.It truly felt like an adventure for me, back in the day trying to figure things out etc. What a game.

Yup, I still really like the look of the games, very lush and art direction is top notch. The highest resolutions I've played them at is 480p with the VGA box, and they looked great, can't wait to see how these versions will look.Shenmue still looks outstanding in high resolution:
Remember, this is a game that came out nearly 20 years ago.
I didnt know there was talks about more than one game, but what I meant actually wasn't about the story but something like to give fans the love back, like to make one more game, not to finish something that started but to end long period of waiting to make it a reality (dont know if that make sense in english)
As someone who never had the opportunity to play the Shenmue games, but do enjoy the Yakuza games, I often see the latter described as spiritual successors. But, of course, by now Yakuza has blown way past Shenmue in terms of graphics and fluidity in gameplay. I plan to pick these up because, if nothing else, the settings seem interesting. I'm definitely curious about the double time travel of playing a remaster of an early 2000s game that's set in the late 80s. But, coming from Yakuza, what should I expect? What, if anything, is better about Shenmue at this point?
I'm 100000% looking forward to just hanging around Dobuita at night in the snow. Shenmue II is the better game, but the original exudes atmosphere.
Now what classic do we focus on requesting? FF7, Crash, Shenmue all saved. Onimusha just had trademarks renewed.
Dino crisis?
Yep.
