I feel that a lot of the "I AM CRYING" posts here never played the game and are just hyped on the other people hype and the Shenmue 3 meme (not that the game is a meme, but the urban legend about sequels that never were going to be made).

I expect disappointment on the first timers when they try the game because some of its stuff haven't aged well.

But I am happy for the fans.

I feel that a lot of post like this are from sour grapes posters who can't believe that, yes, there are people excited about this stuff that played it back in the day. I feel that the posters harping on about people being disappointed are the same types who say a game is unplayable unless it controls like every other game on the planet (i.e. mostly extremely young people).

I didnt know there was talks about more than one game, but what I meant actually wasn't about the story but something like to give fans the love back, like to make one more game, not to finish something that started but to end long period of waiting to make it a reality (dont know if that make sense in english)
I think I get the gist of what you mean.

Before the Kickstarter launched Yu Suzuki did try and find a way to conclude the story with III, but found it would skip too much and be unsatisfactory as a story, a continuation of what came before, and as a game. III was never advertised as the end, and right from the announcement it was billed as a continuation. It was the right thing to do, because nobody deserves a Xenogears Disk 2 situation after waiting 15 years.

WOW that's cool. Never played the originals, despite saving to buy a Dreamcast for Shenmue back in 5th grade. Haven't read through the topic but is it a remake? Remaster? Port?

The game can be emulated at 60fps?
No.

Game runs at 30, but with a 60 refresh rate. Not sure how but it's possible to do some frameskipping jiggery pokery to get it to a sorta ersatz 60, I think. I don't expect these remasters to be 60 unless they put in some serious legwork, because it's guaranteed these games were not made with that framerate in mind.

I hope they have less compressed audio recordings available, because the DC voice acting sounds like 32kbps mp3

anyway, great news, Shenmue 1 never left the DC, the emulator was fine, but this is better, games shouldn't stay locked to a single platform.
but I think it was kind of expected given the new game being made.

It seems as though only a handful of folks here are aware that this is a straight port. Hype is a hell of a drug.

Did a mockup of the PS4 box art next to the Dreamcast game:

Figured I'd dump a few of my emulated DEMUL screens of the first game in here. Honestly, a resolution bump does a whole lot for the game's looks. This was at 3X internal resolution:

Always a sight to behold. Never played these games in HD.

What an experience this is going to be!

Higher quality audio was used for Ryo's voice clips in the Sonic & All Stars games, plus Shenmue: The Movie.

I'm hopeful SEGA still has the original masters. They seem to have gotten their archiving processes in order by the time Shenmue was created, because a lot of that material (including the source code) have been made available to YSnet as they develop III. The only thing officially recognised as AWOL would be the Saturn Shenmue prototype.

I'm curious to see how basic the PC version might be. Not really sure what kind of options they could give us.

So, I watched GB play the first one and as stupid as it was I am intrigued about 2s story to see where it goes. I could see how it was amazing for it's time though. Didn't seem like anything else was like it then. This would have blown my mind but I didn't own a DC.
