Huh? I always say if I redeemed the code, besides the only reason I respond quickly is because I signed up for the email alert.
Just posting a code is a bad idea, but first to quote is effective in blocking lurkers. I prefer the first come first serve method myself, it's the one I also use to give away codes, but whatever people want. It's your code give it away how you choose I say.
Just posting a code can also cause bots to quickly grab the code.
i'm saying give other people a chance. this thread is supposed to be fun, not a competition on who can rack up the most free shit be being vigilant. then again, i'm shitting up the thread right now complaining about it, so i suck too.
True but I haven't seen anything that indicate that's happening. I've gotten a few codes myself and all I use is subscribe or just being lucky enough to see the thread bumped.
Given history with this thread, and the prior incarnation on GAF, it's safe to say that the regulars are faster than most bots. I mean, holyshitsomeofyoupeopleareinhumanlyfast. :)
Givers can give however they want. We see all sorts of giveaways in this thread.
I'd rather people come to give first come, first served drops, than to not come at all because all they hear are complaints about how they gave things away.
We get a solid mix of giveaway styles in here, so if one style doesn't work for you, just wait. Another will come along soon enough.

i wasn't complaining about people giving them away like that. i'm just saying there should be some unwritten rule among freeloaders like myself that there is a cooldown period after you win something.
Someone stealth redeemed this on Movies Anywhere (instead of iTunes), so they only got the HD copy instead of the UHD copy.
People, if you're going lurk a code, at least redeem it where you're going to get the best value out of it. :P

That's a Universal code, and the Universal site tells you where the code is redeemed when you put it in. It said that the code was redeemed at Movies Anywhere on 4/14/18 (today). So whoever took it redeemed it for a HD copy instead of a UHD copy (which would have ported back to MA as a UHD copy).
I'm all for first come, first served, luck-of-the-draw, and all that, but redeeming for a lower resolution copy is just silly. I thought I'd taught this forum to do better than that. 8-)
If the code can be redeemed in iTunes, and if iTunes offers it in UHD, yes. On iTunes, code redemptions are treated as purchases, so DVD codes = SD. Blu codes = UHD.
Really? I had an old unused TDKR code and only got The hd version.
And what does it show in your MA transaction history for that title?
Remember, if you're playing back on an Apple device that doesn't support UHD, it'll only show HD as the max.

VUDU will treat a Blu code as HD and pass to MA (and iTunes) as HD.
iTunes only sells SD or "best available" which is why Blu codes redeemed on iTunes get the free UHD upgrade. They'll show in MA as iTunes 4k.
Just remember, not all studios support iTunes, so if you can't redeem the code directly, you don't get the free upgrade.
If I redeem / buy on iTunes and get access to the 4K version, but don't have an Apple TV 4k device, can I watch the 4k version via the Vudu app on Xbox One X?
Yes. This is exactly how it works, so long iTunes has the film in UHD. If iTunes only has HD rights (HELLO DISNEY), then it will only pass a HD entitlement to MA.
I don't have an Apple device, but I still redeem on iTunes when I can, just for this very reason.
That said, since you work on the Xbox/Windows store SpartyCrunch, who do I have to talk to, to convince Microsoft to get the store back on board with Movies Anywhere?
Would much rather watch directly on my Xbox One X versus having to fire up an additional app. The store was there with DMA, but then dropped out with the switch to MA. Would rock to have it back onboard!
Do you think the iTunes/ Disney thing will resolve itself?

The Disney/iTunes UHD thing is all about money. Apple doesn't want to price UHD titles higher. Disney wants that premium income.
Money is likely the reason why Microsoft dropped out of MA when the transition from DMA happened.

Well aware that one person can't make a decision like that, but I always seize an opportunity to have a voice heard. Lack of UV/MA support is the only real reason why I don't use the Microsoft Video store for paid content. Same used to be true of Amazon and iTunes. Never bought anything at either place before the companies joined MA. Now I make purchases where the price is best.

I would like to see a movie based on a DC "villain", to see their perspective and what motivates them. Then have a separate "hero" movie that overlaps the villian movie, but from the hero's viewPoint.
