Not sure I'm a fan of lanky blastoise, but some of the animations are cool at least. Freezing itself in place with the mini-cannons so it doesn't have to deal with recoil is a neat idea.

Also I think this is the first time we've seen Mega Blastoise's cannon retract? I know it has animation bones to do so on the 3DS games but I don't think they're used, just like Darkrai's legs were modelled and rigged but never show up in game.

Edit:
so I just got a shiny arceus through wonder trade . this thing is obviously hacked right ?

Probably. Since they never released the Azure flute, I think the only wonder tradeable arceus is from the dream world, and that's probably shiny locked.
That and wonder trade is full of super hacked shinies. I once got a 6th gen native originally from RSE shiny shaymin.

There was a shiny Arceus event in gen 6 that was incredibly rare and Japan-only, but I think that one had the ribbon that prevents GTS/WT trading. Probably a streamer shiny.

What should I do with the arceus then ? Keep it or wonder trade it back ?

I release the ones I can prove are fake, but keep the ones which could be legit, even if the odds are pretty low.
Don't put hacks back into wonder trade though, you're just cycling the pollution around.

In other news, does anyone have a spare Archipeligo Vivillon, preferably 7th gen native, that they're willing to trade? I've managed to get all the others off of the GTS but this one is eluding me. I've got some Sandstorm Vivillon (6th gen), or I can breed some 5IV pokémon in exchange.

I'm also looking the Hat Pikachu (I have Kalos and Movie already) for my living dex, though I'm not sure what I've got of equal value to trade for those.

Gonna ask again, since I didn't get much response last time. Does anyone have a spare Marshadow I can take off their hands? I noticed that's the last one I'm missing for my living dex, bar the USUM ultra beasts.

Ok, here is a random thought that just occured to me for no reason, far too late, and I apologize if this has already been discussed at lenght.

But here I go.

I don't understand why Xerneas' typing is not Grass/Fairy.

The thing lives in the wood so the Grass typing would make sense.
Moreover, it would be the complete opposite of Yvetal's Dragon/Flying, and make there match-up fairer.

What happened there? Did Game Freak decide to screw over Yvetal just for fun? Did they forget to code the Grass typing? Does all of this matter at all? Am I five years too late?

Actually, Yveltal is Dark/Flying, but yeah, Grass/Fairy would have been the complete opposite of it anyway. Who knows why they didn't do it, I can only assume its because Grass/Fairy is kinda OP, I mean look at Whimsicott. Little fuck was already a powerhouse grass type, then they threw it another bone by being part fairy and no one really knew how to deal with it for a good while. Grass/Fairy Xerneas would have been the new Kyogre, it would have been OP for a couple of gens before they can knock it down a few notches.

Yes, sorry, Dark/Flying.
But still, in my opinion Xerneas would have been less OP with a dual typing, especially because Yvetal would have countered it (which is not the case at all right now).

It rarely matters if the other legend can counter it. Lugia has access to a lot of water moves, solar beam on Groudon is laughable, dialga and palkia have no type compatibility whatsoever, Reshiram can take down its Trio master, and Solgaleo/Lunala also have no type compatibility. Its not something that actuall determines how strong a legendary actually is.

You should have added a Siglyph around the 4th Gym. Its a pretty good psychic Pokemon, but it has added stab flying when you need that as well. You're gonna need a psychic type for sure when you reach the E4, Marshall is gonna have fun with your current team. Especially if that's not mistake and you haven't fully evolved the starter to Emboar.

I really want this Pokemon, Mega Diancie plush. But by the time I decided I could afford to get it, Pokemon Center was no longer selling them.

And now they're super expensive on Amazon.

https://amazon.com/dp/B00PPWYZNQ/?c...olid=38JN5DM4C6L4A&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Do I have any alternatives, or is this just a super expensive collector's item right now?
Diancie is my favourite Pokemon. I already have a Diancie plush, just not a Mega Diance plus. A framed Diancie poster. And I've watched the movie subbed about a dozen times.

I really want this, and more Diancie merchandise in general. But more than $200 is way more than I'm willing to pay.

I can go back and get a siglyph, of course if I can avoid it I'd rather not evolve the starter (tepig looks so much like my dog) bit I guess if I have to...

Thanks to the help of people here, it took me almost 20 years, but I finally beat one of the Pokemon RPGs. The endgame is Final Fantasy 3 with a ton of grinding as with the others I got to the Elite 4 on. Did they ever earn to put all the sidequests BEFORE the Elite 4 so you can use them for grinding like in a Final Fantasy game?

And that dark dragon in the final battle send line it was put there just to screw with my setup. Every time I put something in with one shot our close to it. I did the cheapest thing imaginable, just full cute every time it users the dragon type attack until it ran out of pp. Then my dragon type was basically invulnerable and I healed my entire team before continuing. What was I SUPPOSED to do there?

And I put some Pokemon from SS in there (I bought the game used and have it backlogged, but I figured if I'm gonna just delete the old save anyway, I may as well swipe its Pokemon.) When I play BW2, can I transfer the Cyndaquil and Togepi to that game, or do I need the National Dex first? It's the same Gen, right?

Did the Newsletter really screw me over for owning both Ultra Sun and Moon? I thought the code would be usable on both versions, but nope, 1 time use code. Used it on Ultra Moon too, so got Heatran instead of the rarer Regigigas. So freaking dumb, and frankly i'm very annoyed at this.

So if your connection drops while using Pokémon Bank, you get locked out because...reason. What idiot came up with that idea?

If you send them to a finished Pokémon White/Black, you can then just trade them over to Black and White 2 without having to wait post game.

It's what I do when I want to trade in a Charmander Egg.

Cool. I have a used white 2, so I'll be swiping those Pokemon as well before starting a new game on it. Does it continue the story of white, or is it just all new characters?

Its both. New protag, new rival, but team plasma has gone through a restructure in the two years between games, Bianca and Cheren have roles in the games, a lot of NPC remember the protag from the first game, and N does return. Also if you have two handhelds activate memory link from the start, most of it is post game, but it does unlock a lot of flashback memories, and N's Pokemon from BW are all found in the various routes across the game, In fact, they are found in the routes after each battle with him, suggesting he released them into the wild immediately after. One unfortunate thing about B2W2 is that a lot of medals are either based on BW's proto streetpass c-gear features or online, and Join Avenue is basically useless without online(I miss Magnemite Coil).

So Ash and Pikachu can just lift Cosmoem like nothing.
aw5gx71ruakwkeigwido.jpg

Nothing new, anime doesnt care about weights (or type vulnerabilities sometimes).

Lilly had the thing in her bag in the game.

Or when they do an episode on Ping Pong care about bringing back a character that left to become a ping pong master aka Ash's Ambipom. :(
honestly I just assume Cosmoem is making itself largely weightless via psychic powers most of the time so its true weight is almost never felt.

I decided to go after Soul Silver next, and I just finished the 8th gym. I spent a lot of time considering my team and I think I'm gonna go with

Feraligator w/ a dark attack and the ice attack it gets normally
Espeon
Derlibird
Piloswine (gotta grind this thing)
Heracross (gotta catch and grind it)

I figure the elite 4 should go like this:

#1 - Heracross is bug type and Feraligator has the dark type attack
#2 - Espeon, psychic and Piloswine, for its ground type
#3 - Espeon, psychic and Delibird, with Fly
#4 - Heracross with fighting attacks, don't have a second for this one
Champion - Piloswine and Delibird are ice types and Feraligator has the ice type attack

...and I don't know what to take for my 6th. I have the final evolution of Mareep which I really like (and named Sheep Man) or Vulpix. That Dratini I got from the old man is also looking pretty good, but I haven't touched it, and it'll be a glass cannon at best for the champion.

Bonus fact: In the Japanese version of Mega Man X2, Wheel Gator is called Wheel Alligates. Alligates also being the Japanese name for Croconaw, the mid-form of Tododile (I'm playing the Japanese version of SoulSilver.) So if you want to be anachronistic, Wheel Croconaw can be the name for a Mega Man boss.

Edit: I know Iwata had to come in and write compression algorithms because they were having truouble fitting all of Johto on a GB cart, and that compression was so good it allowed them to also include Kanto, bbut was this game REALLY gonna just cut off after the Johto champion? Seems awfully short, maybe because I just finished White...

So for all the new games, I can't start a new game without deleting the old one? Wanted to do some nuzlocke challenge game modes, but I'd have to delete my old file in x and moon. Also bank doesn't allow you to store items, and I have some time exclusive items...

I don't think there's ever been a mainline Pokemon game where you can have multiple saves.

They do offer that feature but it's called "buying the other version".

I just best the champion in ss. My team was pretty much perfect, though I did make some changes since I posted here. I used lugia instead of delibird cause I didn't have to grind it and I chose mamoswine for my sixth. I got so close to winning the first time. The last Pokemon was low enough on HP so one hot from me would kill it, so I attacked and the champion got a crit, beating my last Pokemon.

Now for the second half of the game. Thank you, Iwata.

Is Citra the best place to play USUM now with the new update to allow the use of GPU? I don't really play my 3DS anymore but I would totally play it more on my PC. Other than events and online it's the way to go right?

Before I decide to purchase VC version of Yellow, can anybody confirm if I can breed a Munchlax with both Self-Destruct and Curse in Ultra Moon? I plan to get Slef-Destruct via a TM.

EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out.

Hi all,

I'm quite new to the Pokémon craze, only having recently picked up Detective Pikachu, which has been my only real exposure to this world. The game has been very enjoyable, and I'm interested in its universe and creatures.

I have downloaded the demos to OR/AS and Sun/Moon and tried them out but the one thing that has always been on my mind since looking back on the original games from the GB days is how does one go about choosing each game version from eac generation?

Do you pick up both versions? Do you normally wait for the "special edition" re-release that encompasses features of both base versions?

In the case of the 3DS versions, the ones I'm looking at at the moment, which route does one go for X/Y, OR/AS, Sun/Moon, and UltraSun/UltraMoon?

Thanks!

It's really about which exclusive Pokemon you're looking to obtain. Granted, online trading mitigates this, but that's largely the biggest deciding factor.

Honestly, I just pick the one with the coolest looking legendary on the cover, unless you have strong opinions on the exclusive pokémon, which I generally don't when at the time I'm picking a new version and I'm guessing you don't yet if you're new to the series. The maybe biggest difference you'll notice is the latest games have an inverted day/night cycle on one version. Never get both versions, its pointless.

As for the "special edition" re-release, we haven't gotten a single definitive version in nearly a decade. Gen 6 didn't get one for some reason, remakes don't get them, and for gen 5 and 7 the re-release also came in pairs. If you're coming in late though, they are the better choice. Skip SM for USUM.

So the mainline Pokemon series should ultimately be treated like a set collection? Buy the one that contains the base creatures that catch your eye and you can trade for others outside of that base's lineup online thereafter?

Yep, it's easy to trade also, with the GTS.

Pick Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon and you're set, great games and better versions than regular Sun and Moon

There are different generations which is when they add new pokemon, for instance XY and ORAS are gen 6 while Sun Moon (and Ultra) are gen 7. Between selecting what game of a pair to choose, it is mostly about what pokemon you like the most in the exclusive list. However it is quite easy to obtain them through internet trade so you can just choose whatever case looks the coolest.

So i just got a 2DS and it came pre-loaded with Pokemon Yellow. I decided that i should finally give Poke a serious try and i'm playing it. But i'm not really feeling it. It feels really archaic and cumbersome to play and i'm trying to avoid grinding with not much success. I'm at the first gym battle and the only strong enough Pokemon i have is Pikachu, which is literally useless in this particular battle. I feel like the only solution here is to grind heavily and i would rather avoid it :/

Bearing in mind that i like to follow a series through instead of jumping around back and forth, should i stick with it or should i really just skip it and what entry should i get instead? From what i gather, i have access to all the main entries on the 2DS, so should i just skip to the next game (Crystal) or skip to the DS or even to the 3DS ones?
