A question- I'm the weirdo who isn't part of a team. What internet tool is everyone using to appraise the IV values of their Pokemon?

CalcyIV on Android and PokeGenie on both Android/iOS are good. They just use screenshots.

This one online is good for a good ol' fashion manual check: https://pokeassistant.com/main/ivcalculator

Never, EVER, use any app or site that asks for your login to do it automatically. You will get banned.

I was lamenting never getting a Tangela/Hitmonchan this event. Sure enough, got a super random Hitmonchan and then at like 4:30, got the Tangela field encounter lol

I hate the withdrawals that occur right after an event

I guess its back to chasing Latios

Yeah, not sure what to do now.

Wait for gen 4...

I thought I was finally getting into raids when Lugia came back, but I haven't been chasing Latias in the same way. And still 3 weeks until they switch over, I think.

And wait for new a Research quest and new legendary reward.

There will be another event soon I'm sure, with the way they've been pumping them out lately.

That feeling when your co-worker tells you that the one day you went into the other office in town was the day a Snorlax popped up outside work.
And then you hatch one out of a 10km egg the very next morning.

It's like a roller coaster of emotions.

Yeah these normal spawns are definitely a bummer after the event. Without scanners, there's not a lot I can directly work on right now.

Yeah these normal spawns are definitely a bummer after the event. Without scanners, there's not a lot I can directly work on right now.

So the obvious things you can do are :
Keep hatching eggs
Keep doing the new challenges from stops (to get some high IV creatures)
Keep farming the 12 candy evolve creatures (Pidgey / Weedle / Whismur / Wurmple etc etc) - and then evolve them for XP
Yes its not going to set the world on fire but it will keep edging you closer to the next level

After some reflection this morning, I think I'm going to be taking a break from the game. I think I'll just do my daily research tasks and that'll be it. Latios and Latias suck so there's no reason to grind them, and the lack of maps means I'm mostly driving around catching Sentret and Venonat. As such I'll be removing this thread from my watchlist. See y'all when I return, and good luck!

Work on the Quests, those are very fresh, and a lot of quests are really good. Currently I'm working on the Hatch 5 Eggs for Chansey reward.

I still need a few more mons in Gen 3 (Metagross, Salamence and Cradily) and then I will just focus on getting progress on my medals. Now that all my type medals are gold, I just have my general medals to work on. Currently I have silver in Breeder (only need to hatch 6 more eggs, so this will be gold soon), Battle Girl, Youngster and the new Research tasks medal. And then the two raid badges are still bronze (although I'm only 6 legendary raids away from silver on Battle Legend). Working on getting all of those to gold will keep me occupied until Gen 4.

I think it was a mistake to put two very similar bosses in back to back for such a long period of time.
A lot of people are sick of the one they have and there are still weeks left of it then when they switch you get a different colored one (which you use the same counters against) and that's it - so you have around 10 weeks of the same thing with nothing else.

The community days are great - the quests stuff keeps things a little more interesting (I've not checked yet but i expect the next box to be yet another moltress) but if you are not feeling it then the answer is to scale back / down on stuff and come back to it later refreshed.

While the event was on i walked up the amount of candies i needed for my final evolve (a Lilleep) and I've now got everything other than regionals but i'm 2 million points into 39 and the push to 40 will keep me playing for at least a while longer.

Also while the last event was on and Machop's were everywhere I've built up my Machamp army to try and Duo some Tyranitars so thats my next 'challenge'

My Latios is actually almost fully maxed out. Caught it as a Boosted 98% (Also caught a boosted 93% too). Obviously, I have much better Dragon Pokemon. But I do like this little fighter, it has very quick moves. It's Fast Attack is very fast, will be useful for Gym Battles. Plus, not like I don't have enough stardust. lol

Sounds like new ban waves rolling out again, in retaliation for spoofers beating the system before community day again. This time it sounds like mass perma-bans however. Gonna be interesting to see if this lasts or if they just regroup as always.

Also sounds like they are teaching everyone how to request refunds through the apple store and get the money back they spent in the past few months. I bet Niantic will be happy about that.

I'm a lot more excited for gen 4 than I was for gen 3. I skipped gen 3 back in the day (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald anyway, I did play LeafGreen) so those Pokémon never meant much to me, and gen 4 was my return to the series (I went back and played LeafGreen after). Plus, it has one of my favorite pseudo-legendaries, Garchomp, which due to its ground-typing should be a LOT easier to obtain here in a desert biome, and one of my favorite starters, Turtwig/Torterra. It'll also be nice to breathe some life into a bunch of my gen 1 and 2 Pokémon through new evolutions.

About 8/9 months until Gen 2 was released (Feb, I'm not counting the Babies in December...., that was a Stop Gap maneuver only)
And about 9 or 11 months until Gen 3 was released (depending on if you count the Ghosts or not for Halloween. If not, then December with 1st rollout)
Since the 1st roll out in December, it's now been nearly 5 months. So, if the pattern holds, we can likely expect Gen 4 sometime during Summer / Late Summer / Early Early Fall.

Keep in mind: Updates and such, are happening much faster these days. So it's not out of the realm to see Gen 4 slightly sooner. Weather system, community day, Research.
Likely depends on if the next big Update (Battle system rework?) comes out before it or not.

We do still need Smeargle and a chunk of gen 3 gimmick Pokémon though. And gen 3 has by far the biggest legendary slate to go through of the current three gens. So there is room to stretch things out.

There is, but all depends on how the regis are used. They could easily place those in quests.

As far as missing Gen 3 Pokemon, we are still missing Gen 2 Pokemon :P
We didn't get the Gen 2 Christmas Pokemon till the 2nd wave of Gen 3 too.

So, I don't see missing non-legendary Pokemon giving us a delay. Nor Mystical either (since that would be done via Special Research). Outstanding Legendaries of course will be the main thing to push us back.

But, as I said, it's only been 5 months. I don't expect Gen 4 for at least 3 more months.

They've done a better job at giving us things to do recently.

It's just a shame that Latias is less interesting than Lugia. And it would be nice if it wasn't weeks of Moltres.

I don't know what's up with the spawns but I've gotten 4 Dittos today with my Go+.

Finally got my Mew! So excited!

Larvitar is part of mountain biomes IIRC.
Right, but my thinking was "oh, ground = definite desert!", and then I remembered Larvitar. Granted, the entire line is primarily rock, so there's that, and giving mountain two psuedos when one could go to desert would be lame, so I guess there is hope. :P

Edit: actually, where do Beldum spawn the most anyway? And Bagon for that matter?

Beldum seem to just spawn during day at regular rate for me. Esp when scanners were around, you could see them at good density. Bagons less so, maybe few every few hours. So def rare. But if it's windy, it's little more "common"

For Beldum, I def randomly ran into them a whole bunch of times. The day before the Kanto event or so I randomly ran into 3. Was nice.

Still need about 50 candy for my Metagross. Wish I had grinded those out while the scanners were up, I took them for granted and now they're gone.

Beldum and Bagon definitely seem much more common than Dratini and Larvitar were. Weren't those two biome dependant? They at least seemed to spawn more commonly in wet/dry areas.

I hope with Gen 4 that they don't stretch it out as long as they did Gen 2. They're pretty similar-less Pokémon than the gen before and lots of evolutions of old Pokémon-which means you ran out of stuff to catch faster than you do with Gen 1 and 3.

I also hope that the Regi's aren't done via raids. They're not great Pokémon and pretty much only well known for having a really unique quest line. I hope they translate that over.

Dratinis were very very common (Look at my candies from previous page lol) before Gen 3 started as Water Spawn Points. For some reason they kinda took that out. Now you just need for them to spawn randomly if at all. When the scanners were up, i'd be monitoring a pretty big area that would maybe see 1 a day, maybe less. Before Gen 3, that same area would have 10+ easily a day, 20+ not out of norm. I don't like what they did. :(

Even before I ever used a scanner, I could dry through a few parking lots before and after work that were water biomes (stream goes below it) and could most likely get 1 or 2 a day on avg. Sometimes I'd literally see 4 in a day.

Beldum def doesn't seem to go along with a Weather the same way that Ralts (Cloudy) & Slakoths (Partly Cloudy) do. If it was Cloudy, Ralts would be everywhere. Beldums seem to be most common from my experience during Sunny / Clear weather, but felt like any weather would get them to pop frequently. Both def got an increase during Windy weather.

I've seen like, one Beldum and two Bagon. For me Larvitar was definitely far more common, while still being exceedingly rare. As far as Dratini goes, where I live I don't think I've ever seen a single one without an event or scanners, though I did catch a wild Dragonair once. The only normal Dratini spawns I've just come across were in Florida.

The dream is desert spawns for Gible having the old water biome Dratini spawn rate. Would make up for all the other psuedos being unicorns, lol.

I think water biomes just got more diversified with gen 3, given that Hoenn has a fuckton of water types. It now has two Pokemon that require 400 candy to evolve, another starter, Feebas which is quite rare, Lotad and Wingull which aren't too common for some reason. Most likely they tweaked the Dratini spawn rate. Still see them at water spawn points but definitely not as common as before.

'Dratinis were very very common' sounds really biome-dependent when I didn't get my first Dragonite until walking for a while with a Dratini in buddy system way past getting all the other Kanto Pokemon, hah.

Beldum is really the first pseudo that spawns decently in my city. Dratinis spawned sometimes but not enough to call them common, Larvitars were very very rare and Bagons are non-existent, the only reason I have a lot of Bagon candies is egg hatches.

The one exception i would say to that is snow

When we had the snow here in the UK in Jan / early Feb and the scanners were still up there were Beldum *everywhere* around here , but with the weather it was very difficult to get out to get them :-(

Bah, have to do ten raids to progress the quest, that's going to hold me up.

I vaguely remember someone saying you could participate in the same raid ten times but I couldn't get that to work, either by dying and retrying or exiting out and trying again, am I missing a trick?

Its been patched

If you had the quest prior to some point last week you could use the trick and get past it - if you did not then you need to participate in 10 raids (so 10 days worth of free passes).

The trick was to :

Setup a private group (so no one else joins and defeats the boss)
As soon as the battle starts back out to the lobby
Wait until the timer runs out
Repeat

Each time you did that increased the battle counter by 1 so you could do multiple raids for a single pass , however now its only counting it for one so you may as well just do the raids - if its any consolation that should be the last stumbling block (if you have the candies for a Magicarp)

One more berry aided catch and I can get my mew. Saving it to show the kids when I get home though. Lol

Edit: 1306cp 88% with poison jab and solar beam

Better then my luck would normally get me

One of the better nests became a Wailmer nest last night. Got myself 70 more candy, only 155 left, so two trips or so should do it. I'm just worried I'll evolve it and then suddenly the Celebi quest line goes live with an "Evolve a Wailmer" mission, lol.

Yeah I would hold off. I've got my Wailord but I'm saving up candy for the second one just for that.

I know there's the generational disconnect, but then Gen 2 has no 400 candy evolutions and Gen 3 has two, so if they're really attached to that mission type they could break it up with one for each.

I'm not even sure what exactly would be good Gen 2 themed missions. Maybe catch Dark types or *shudders* hatch X amount of babies.
