How exactly does this contradict my point? You are actually confirming my point. There simply was more marketing for the PS4 version.
Sorry, I probably just misread your sentence, I read it as the actor being SE, not SE and Sony. I didn't see Sony mentioned anywhere so I thought it was odd to say that the marketing was focused on PS4, because SE did nothing of the sort.

Nintendo probably could have done their own advertisements as well which might have improved 3DS version sales, but it seems that they were not interested.

Snack World had the highest debut of any non-Nintendo-brand Switch game since MHXX.

I'm not sure if that's good for Level-5 or laughably bad for every other 3rd party.... or both.

Also DQXI started development in 2013, and as a PS4 exclusive. It doesn't really look DQX took any priority away from it, in fact it's more the opposite as both Orca and Toylogic were taken off DQX with Version 2 to move to DQXI.
How do you know development started in 2013? I think they only started talking about it since 2014. Also, the fact that these devs have to be "taken off" from DQX already shows the problem. Had DQX been a single player game, these devs would be free the moment the game launched.

We know because they said so I believe, just like how we know it started on PS4. We didn't hear it was in development until early 2014 though I think and platform announcements came a year after that.

Also DQX released late 2012, devs moving to DQXI in 2013 doesn't seem like it was much of a problem. For how profitable DQX is and considering Horii wanted to make it since the PS2 (Dragon Quest Online was actually announced by Enix for PS2) I think it's fine they went the direction they did. Unlike DQXI, DQX didn't underperform.

Def both. A lot of these games have legs though. So it makes it up a bit. We prob wont see anything debut higher until maybe SD Generations? Or Taiko I guess?

More specifically, Nintendo handhelds are the only thing selling in Japan.
Nah. The Vita still selling consistently in thousands per week despite not having many games is still a healthy sign. I wonder how many more it would've sold if Sony still fully supported it.
PS4 will go on to sell 8-10 million in JP alone and something like 50 million software.

We just had MHW sell/ship 3 million.

No need for such hyperbole lol
Other than monster hunter, what games do you think will sell well over there to boost PS4 sales again like MH did?

Last YTD was 160K, this year its at 71K, more than a 50% drop. Not sure how that's healthy, especially when its software isn't charting. Not sure how you define that as healthy.

At the start of the gen I expected PS4 to do 10 million. Seems more unlikely by the day. Now I'm wondering if PS5 can get any lower than this. To me it's like the absolute bottom already.

Vita has LTD lower than PS4. As a handheld you can't get any worse than that in Japan. Sony don't have anything that can support Vita in Japan, so there's no "if" about that. You can throw Naughty Dog and SSM into Vita and it still won't move the needle one bit in Japan.

Like, I literally mentioned it in my post. The fact that Vita hardly has any games and no support and still selling in thousands, not hundreds, not tens, should tell you something.

The Wii u had Nintendo's support and still sold badly. The Vita has been abandoned for a good while and still selling. Point I'm trying to make here, which is the obvious, Japan loves portables.

And yet Vita still below PS4..... i am not sure what u wanted to said here?
Vita in the end is an undesirable product in WW and even JP as it had no support from Sony and third party also does not support it enough.

And considering the Sony track record, no matter how much Sony throw to Vita, i dont see it doing much better than it currently is.

The Vita is the second lowest selling system, with the only one below it being the Xbox One. You can find personal satisfaction in its weekly sales, but it is far from healthy.

18 games out of 50 is pretty amazing considering the low-key third party support. MH and FIFA still hanging there. When Switch will increase its weekly basis those games will also increase their weekly sales.

I expect FIFA switch to do really well during the World Cup. It'd be funny if it would become the best-selling FIFA game in Japan—IIRC the best-selling one is a PS2 FIFA in early 2000s, with more than 200k.

How do you know development started in 2013? I think they only started talking about it since 2014. Also, the fact that these devs have to be "taken off" from DQX already shows the problem. Had DQX been a single player game, these devs would be free the moment the game launched.

I can answer this.
Because Dragon Quest X 2.0 (December 2013) was even the bigger game than 1.0, and when 3.0 in development they start doing the transition more trainees more new recruitment, 4.0 DQX is completely new team doing the job.

They have done all these things to make a root for future projects.

Nintendo stock +5.30%. Is this based on data or hope? I guess market hasn't opened in the US yet, but maybe Japan?
Well the way investors behave, I wouldn't be surprised if the rise is from people banking on Labo being a breakout hit right from the start. Since, while I expect it to succeed eventually, I don't expect Labo to be a breakout hit right from the start, the next stage will be a similar or worse drop in the stock...

Then again, maybe some people have positive information (Labo or just general Nintendo related) we are not privy to yet.

Even Media Create and Famitsu subscribers don't even have any data at the moment, so even the investors that do have access to the early reports don't know anything. Tuesday is the earliest you can expect official, reliable, and not based on too small a sample to be representative of the success of Nintendo Labo, report with the usual Famitsu report (provided there's one... I think it's an important enough release to warrant it, but we'll know). Most likely won't be anything before Wednesday, though, since most recent early reports have come on Wednesday instead of the usual Tuesday.

Something tells me it's just from investors remembering that Labo is a thing.

Yup, the same investors that needed to be reminded Pokémon GO wasn't developed by Nintendo :P

Trading is literally the worst success indicator you could ever go with, since stock can go up and down for a myriad of reasons. Even the hourly Amazon charts are a better indicator, that says a lot ;)
