Surely they had to get some sort of re licensing for the music in SSX3?

I think MS should do all they can to make sure that get all their OG Xbox exclusives on the BC program including Buffy

It's best to be pessimistic with this sort of thing and be pleasantly surprised when publishers do go the extra mile IMO. In the meantime the best thing we can do is buy these games and show to publishers that it's worth the cost/effort or re-licensing. So everyone buy SSX 3!

it would be incredibly expensive to license content from most games specially for little return which is the case of how MS do BC (not selling the games again if you have the disc, not picking only the most popular titles). no simulation sports game would be worth it for instance (arcade sports games with little to no licensed content are fine) - not only would be crazy expensive to negotiate with todays values some rights for retired athletes/extinct teams would be quite troublesome to get

some games might have negotiated their licensing deals for longer or even done lifetime deals and can be picked for BC, but expect these to be rare exceptions, not the norm

You can play Rock Band 4 on the Xbox One though and it is compatible with previous disc exports and dlc purchased for the 360.

Not all songs carry over, RB Network songs don't, and in general Rock Band 3 is a pretty vastly superior game.

Honestly the one and only reason to ever play RB4 is because all dlc since it's release is exclusive to RB4.

I wouldn't say the only reason, Play A Show is the best mode of any game in the franchise + legacy DLC has added harmonies where applicable and sometimes freestyle vocals too. And tour mode isn't amazing in either game but it's definitely a lot worse in RB3.

XB1 has no way of playing The Beatles Rock Band though and that's a real shame we won't get to see that through BC.

You're right, but I genuinely think RB3 was more feature rich and I miss the keyboard.

Which games have the option to uncap framerate? Bioshock 1, 2 and Infinite are among them. All three should be able to hit 60fps on the X, right?

Not being able to use your Microsoft Account Balance to buy Xbox and 360 games is really fucking stupid.

Why do old games have to be purchased with a credit card?

Is Breakdown not available in the UK? It appears on the store (both on console and in a browser) but you can't buy it.

When they switched over from MS Points to regional currency, MS never took the time to develop the functionality to access the new account wallet on the Xbox 360 web store, only the 360 itself. Wasn't a big deal at the time, but Xbox 360 and OG listings on the X1 were implemented by hacking together an applet that pulls from the web store, so the problem carried over.

Oh yeah. I keep forgetting about RB Network as I never used it as it wasn't made available in Australia (where I am) for whatever reason.

Oh right. Do the old instruments work? (drums mainly)

Yes, many previous instruments work. You just need to get an adapter.

I tried playing Breakdown. I made it to where the Helicopter attacks you and I realised that I would rather play Conker instead

Sorry, but how the fuck? How the fuck Conker looks so good that it could pass as current gen indie title? With it's original assets? Well aside from 4:3, I was gifted this game, never played it, but it really blew me away how good it looks and plays...

So Will Battelfront 1 and 2 have the online side enabled when there released tomorrow?

Was BF2 regarded to be a massive improvement over BF1, just wondering which one to get if not both??

XLink Kai works so you can get pseudo-online. I imagine the release of Battlefront will spark some interest with many people to set up Discord in some fashion.

Sure hope BF2 has the DLC included, the one with Kit Fisto and Ventress. They were so cool back in the day :D

Yeah, I really hope so. I lost it all when my first Xbox's hard drive died, was never able to use it again since it wouldn't let me redownload it on my second Xbox or any Xbox 360 unless I paid again. Heh.

Rage needs a 4k patch. Under appreciated Gem.

In other news, I need Max Payne 3 backwards compat and 4k, what is the hold up with this game?

No original Xbox games that previously had DLC have had that in their backwards compatible releases. No Crimson Skies planes and maps, no Yavin Station in Kotor, no Jade Empire special edition character, etc.

Do these older Battlefront games have any single player content then?....even if they do i cant imagine its anything robust and begs the question why bother bring something like this to the BC program!?

the old battlefront games are nothing like the EA new ones. multiplayer only focused games were a pipedream back then

So what's up with Silent Hill Downpour? I went to download it last night and... well, you can't. I started (albeit very briefly because it was late) looking into it and many others had the same issue and were saying some bs about having to get the HD collection but only downpour was BC? What's up with this?

I mean, if they're not going to put the DLC up on the X1 marketplace... they really should be including it. Otherwise it's leaving all that content lost to time for no real reason. Didn't a lot of it end up going free late in the OG XBL's lifespan too? I know all the Halo 2 content did, and I thought the Battlefield II stuff did as well.

But hey, maybe they will put it up for separate download. This is all still kinda new, so it's possible it's still coming.

I live in eternal hope that Microsoft does something to bring back online features for the backward compatible games.
I know they won't. But it's nice to have hope.

It would be interesting if they found out a way to revive/emulate the OG XBL through Azure and some OS-side trickery to avoid complications with modern XBL, but I don't think that would happen. I think a more plausible, but still unlikely, solution would be to bake an official equivalent to XLink Kai into the OS. Maybe tie it to the LFG features.

Either way it's down to there being a will, and realistically Halo (2 in the case of XBL, both in the case of XLink) and Battlefront would be all that most people care about... and Halo CE and 2 are already in MCC, which is getting a massive overhaul.
