Thanks man. Yea I messed up, meant the 930e. Just really curious to know if the X-motion clarity helps a lot with gaming. I'm coming from a plasma and will miss that smooth motion. But I really need a bigger TV. I can't even see the text in God of War 4 from where I sit. Text is kind of ridiculously small in that game tho
Note that I went from a Panasonic plasma to a Samsung plasma to the 930E, and have not perceived the motion handling to be noticeably worse. I may not be as sensitive to it as others, so YMMV, but it was a non-issue for me.

lol, yeah they've kind of gotten the old 0% treatment lately as well. Luckily, most of our friends have kid so when we get together it's with family (ends up like middle school where the boys sneak off to drink beers and the girls sneak off to...actually what do they do?)

Yeah, i'm just givin you a hard time. I have a couple happy hours this week with friends and work friends, and then have to help my buddy move this weekend...........and I really just wanna play more GoW.

I'm trying to come up with back-up TV's because I'm determined to come home with one tomorrow XD. I live in Glasgow, I'll try everywhere I can. They're de-listed online in every major store ;-;

What's a good alternative?

I'm no expert, but the other TV I was looking at was a Samsung MU7000 (MU8000 in the US). It's cheaper than the 900E but still seems to be very good. If you want to spend more there's the 900F or the Samsung NU8000. I was looking for something 49" max so didn't consider anything bigger but there's lots more options at 55".

John Lewis in Buchanan Galleries has most of these TVs on display so you could go and have a look. Richer Sounds is also worth a visit, the staff in there were very friendly and helpful when I went in.

I did not know you had two plasmas prior. That's good to hear. I really like what I've seen of the 930e in stores. Do you game on it?

Hmmm, I can also get a discount in JL because my uncle works there *strokes beard*

I'm thinking about the Samsung aswell but I'm a bit put off by all the horror stories dealing with them if there's an issue with the TV. Got my heart set on the XE9005 - I'd like the 49" but I should be able to find the 55" if I can't get the 49". Really hope I manage to find it. I've set a time limit so I'm not out all day, finish work at 1145, will hit all the electronic retail parks on the way home and make a decision by 1600 :D

Thanks for the advice.

Yup! I'd say my usage of the set is 50% gaming, 40% streaming services, 10% movies. Pretty much exclusively on PC, with a small amount of Switch. I'm also locking things at either 60 or 120fps, which may affect my perception of the motion issues (or lack thereof.)

And learn from my mistakes, those of you using your old HDMI-with-Ethernet cables! My system ran just fine with them for about 4 months, but I started seeing sparkles and dropouts this weekend. Ended up rewiring the whole setup with those Monoprice Premium Certified cables, and the issues seem to have disappeared.

Good luck. It's a lovely tv, hope you manage to find one.

Sounds like it calibrates very accurately, which is cool. Nits are OLEDish levels, which is a bit of a bummer for an LCD. But keeping in mind price, it's likely still a solid set.

Would a lot of people get a budget priced set calibrated though? Seems like one of those things where it's cool on paper but won't apply to real life

775 nits on 10% that's basically 2017 OLED level doubt it'll hit 900 nits.

So, not much of an improvement, it seems. Well, my only hope is that Vizio dramatically reduced their input lag on the P55-F1 series.

EDIT: I'm TV stupid, so from what the AVS forums are saying, it's a great improvement that puts it nearly there with the Sony X900E, so that's amazing from what I know. Hopefully, the 65 inch is under $1,000.

Any difference in the
Sony UBP-X700 and the LG 970 player?

Or have either? LG has DV already, Sony is getting it this summer.

Sounds like microLED is 10-20 years away from being mainstream. Welp! OLED is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

Idiot here:

Would plasma screens ever have been able to get to like, 1K nit brightness for HDR? Or would the screen technology eventually have limited it before getting to that mark?

Man, these 55" B7/C7 prices on Amazon aren't budging at all even though it's going cheaper elsewhere. I have a bunch of Amazon gift cards though that I'd like to use on one. Any notable events coming up which people might think will trigger a significant price drop?

I imagine the sheer amount of heat plasma displays produce would make it impossible to reach anywhere near that level of brightness.

Yeah 10-20 years was generous on my end. It could very well be something that never hits the mainstream unless they solve the manufacturing problem.

Where is it cheaper? I'm going to buy at Best Buy tomorrow and can use my Chase purchase price protection. I think that's how it works?

I found my most recent television on the curb tonight. It's a 27" Sony Wega CRT that was manufactured in 2002 judging by the sticker on the back. Works perfectly and it's got s-video and even a component input on it. All my classic systems up through GameCube are going to look on incredible on this thing. I may have made my hernia worse carrying it down the stairs, but you can't beat the price.
