Oh man, I forgot a lot about the way the game works. I've just been using the regular arrow and the flame arrow since I started ng+ today.

What a game this is. Can't believe GG managed to surpass the base game. So much better character animmations and that Snow is th best in games I have ever seen.

Sony first party studios are seriously wizards. Can't even imagine what they will do with the monster that will be the PS5.

I mean I've done two side quest and they are long as hell.

I did the quest where you had to go to the damn and help the guy trapped in there to lower the water so that one chick can go in and play on the pipes like instruments. Also I'm currently on the quest where you help these three hunters pay off a debt so they can leave the cut

Ugh, I think I made a huge mistake trying to go back and get the platinum before I did any of the major missions in the DLC. Hunting trials have burned me the fuck out. I only have the 3 stealth ones left, but they have drained my desire to play the game, even the DLC.

Should have just those on easy, much quicker and less tedious.

I'm still in the beginning stages of the DLC after two evenings, and I was wondering if there are any missable colletibles or sidequests, that you can't return to after a certain point?

My Zero Dawn playthrough is kind of puttering out of steam again. I'm level 27ish and I've visited Merdiem and got my two story quests from there, and I've spent some time visiting all the long neck dinosaur bots and cauldrons except for one of each in the north west of the map. I'm really underwhelmed by the side-quests I've been doing (the rewards are *bogus* given the time investment and how freely experience and skill points are handed out for other things), so maybe it's on me for not just continuing down the main path. It feels like it's been a very, very long time since anything of consequence happened in the story.

Do things pick up from here, or am I kind of on top of the hill that is this game looking down and there isn't much left? Usually I'd just keep playing and see for myself, but my game time is a little bit limited at the moment. I'm impressed by what I've seen, and the environments are striking, but it's starting to feel a bit repetitive.

On that note, it's a damn shame there isn't a "wait" function in this game. I can't stand playing certain sections at night when I know there's bound to be an amazing vista during the day. It also feels weird to me that quest givers stand around 24/7 waiting for you to show up, but that's really a nit-pick.

"They say this land belongs to the Banuk, don't listen to them. This land is yours... if you can tame it"- some random NPC.
Really cool line.

And the music really sets the mood!

Any idea if we'll get a tech analysis? I would like to know what kind of improvements GG made to the engine.

I played for a couple of hours tonight. I was pretty suprised when

Sylens calls you just as you're entering the area. It was weird hearing talk as if I hadn't done the final quest, but it makes sense. Interested to see if we find out more about him

I did the tallneck, which was pretty neat. Since there was only one for the entire map, they could make it more unique. Hope to play a lot of this over the long weekend.

Finished the DLC (all quests), very fun stuff gameplay wise, loved the new enemies.

The bows you can unlock in this DLC are extremely powerful, no point in using the blast sling (which was my prefered weapon for big targets in the main game). Having hard-point arrows with ~150dmg each (x3) with the fast bow is insane.

When you complete the main quest in the campaign and see the ending after that when you go back to the game it puts you right before the ending mission so when Sylens talks it's like you still haven't finished the game.

I just bought the vanilla version from Best Buy, is the DLC any good? Better than the main game ?

I would say the DLC is at the same level of quality, pretty high. Gameplay is super fun and the new enemies are a blast to fight against.

I did find the story to be much more captivating in the main game though.

Question?
Are the normal fireclaws easier then the boss fireclaw? or was i just doing the last boss fireclaws wrong?

It took me 10 minutes to kill that boss and i couldn't even freeze the damn thing.

While the normal fireclaws i can easily freeze and they die faster?

Hey, how do i carry more than 2 types of arrows? I can only equip the normal and fire arrow, but not the frozen one.
I need i different type of bow? I already have the precision arrow and the bigger bow (i dont remember the name righ now)

Just finished the main quest

What a ride!

Then
The existing of CYAN is a super big deal for the state of the world. I believe they are setting up an IA companion for the next adventure

Also, Sylens' past and last call tells a lot about his alignment

Yes, you need a War Bow for Freeze, Shock and Corruption Arrows (which ones you'll get depends on the specific War Bow, rarer bows fielding more types of arrows).

Question about the mission after Path of the Shaman.

Do I have to do all three things or just one? The Hunting Ground is literally impossible on Ultra Hard (it's broken) and collecting the resources to buy the pigment map would take longer than the actual story. Can I just do the bandit camp?

What do people use as their main bow? I'm trying to figure out what the best addons are for damage because I feel like I'm getting better damage on my Hunter Bow than I am my Sharpshot Bow now, which means I'm pretty much using the Sharpshot bow for Tearblast Arrows and that's it.

I find the Hardpoint Arrow do better damage than the Sharpshot Arrow. I don't even use the Harvest Arrows at all.

Should I just start putting all Tear addons on my Sharpshot Bow?

I don't think you need to do all three, I got the pigments and bandit camp before that mission and had a option to talk with Aratak right away. I ended up doing the hunting ground anyway but I don't think it was
necessary. Can't remember the resources for the pigment map but I got enough right at the beginning of the DLC when I was just exploring, you sure it's that hard to get?

In the main campaign I used the slings for the most part but in this DLC my weapon wheel was just bows (the expansion ones, they're just too good) and ropecaster.

Hunter Bow was the damage dealer with hardpoint arrows. I had some really good mods from the main campaign with some crazy values for damage and handling with a bit of fire too. Since the handling is high by nature (80 base iirc) the mods give you a lot of value and you can do lots of damage extremely fast.

Sharpshot bow was only for tearblast arrows, I put two handling mods (>50%) in it to make it faster and one for tear. Usually only used it in the beginning of the fights and it got the job done.

Ropecaster was still the most important one for me though, really helps you manage the fights.

Quick question as I just bought the base game. I'm incredibly excited to start playing, but I'm questioning whether I should get the DLC right away? Does it "fit" within the main story if I buy it now? If so, does it add anything that will make the game as a whole feel like a more "complete" experience if I play it right away? If not, does it just feel like a well-contained side story?

Oh nice - rebalance all the fights that I had Hell getting through the day AFTER I get through them. ;__; how cruel, GG

I'm not 100% done, but apparently I'm on the last mission. I would say it skews more toward the latter. It feels like a well-contained side story, not essential at all to the main story, but adds a nice amount of content, including some incredible new machines.

Wow just had my first fight with the Frostclaw (hope I got the right name). What an insane fight. The animations/move set of that thing is so real and life like. The way it loses balance/control after charging at you is very cool.

Love it. Probably my favorite machine in the entire game thus far.

Minor spoilers:

You get to know a bit about the backstory of Sylens and learn more as to what AI development was like before the extinction event.

Thanks for the responses you two! I think I might wait on the DLC until after I beat the main game and a few other titles then.

It fleshes out some aspects of the universe, but it's largely self-contained. That said, it adds some weapons and a skill tree that, IMO, are pretty great additions to the main game in that they smooth out some aspects of the gameplay (i.e. they're very, very convenient.) If I were to start the game from the beginning right now, I'd like to have 'em.
