I'm so happy that this looks certain to make it now. I'm going to play Deadly Premonition again soon to celebrate.

Holy shit it's actually gonna make it.

Looked incredibly grim until just a couple of days ago where it was 200k-300k away, and now it's like 30k. Talk about a gigantic boost.

One other misleading quirk of Kicktraq is that it updates the current day throughout the day. There hasn't been a sudden decline in pledges today; it's just that the most recent day on that chart is only a partial day (measured from whenever 'midnight' corresponds to, presumably relative to the KS start/end time)

It'll pass the goal today.

I'm not backing, but I'm glad it's seemingly going to make it, even if the campaign was planned very poorly, just like the first one. SWERY and Grounding deserve a chance to prove themselves.

I think Swery overestimated his niche appeal, but I do hope the game gets funded fully and I'm glad after the first failure he's trying again with a smaller goal.

This campaign was way better than the first knew lol.

It was better, but it was still very poorly planned. What gave it a fighting chance were the almost desperate measures not included in the initial planning, namely the demo which was only released because the community kept badgering them for it, and the tease of the Switch version, which they've still not committed to, and you still can't back.

Finally pledged for the 28000 yen tier. I was undecided between this and the 13000 for the physical edition, but the pictures of the dog eared hoodie won me over, lol.

It's my first Kickstarter but I really loved both Deadly Premonitions and the concept of this game, so I'd be really glad if I can contribute to make it happen.

Yeah but you'd be wrong, :P

Well, it wouldn't be the first time. It may not even be the second! :)

Perhaps, it's time for you to recalibrate your understanding of the game development process, and yes, I'm aware you're a developer.

Excuse me, but exactly in what way should I recalibrate my understanding of game development process itself? At most I'd have to recalibrate my understanding of the general public's expectations of a publicly released prototype, which I'm happy to do.

As much as I like Swery I don't believe for an instant he's been planning to withhold the prototype demo. Making a twitter poll is like asking a hungry cat if they want to eat, of course everybody would say yes

Also is it me or the UI seems to be really inspired by Breath of the Wild ? The font, the sounds and such.

Well, either could be true, I'm simply basing my reasoning on what he said, whereas you're basing yours on your own presumptions.

So did the Switch tweet generate the new momentum or was that just coincidence?
Doubt it, there are many people who were not happy with a possible Switch version being teased but not being part of the campaign as a stretch goal or similar.

I'd say it's a combination of the prototype getting attention from popular youtubers and gaming celebs, plus this being the last stretch.

I dunno. If I was a developer in this project, I'd rather there was no demo than one like this;

I hope this isn't construed the wrong way, but considering Swery's games (or, more fairly, DP in particular) are fondly known for their jank as much as their charm, people posting pictures along the lines of 'lol look at this bug' probably got a LOT organic exposure.

I think 'most' is taking it a bit far. I've heard the last 48 hours of a Kickstarter usually gains around 20% of the total though.

Eh, I tend to think last stretches to be around a week before deadline. From the Kickstarters I've been a part of that aren't runaway success you usually see a 40% to 50% bump.

I don't usually do gaming Kickstarters though.

Looks like it's going to make it. Good. Deadly Premonition holds a very, very special place in my heart, and I need more of that Swery magic in my life.

It's always fun to watch people following their first kickstarter. The relief about the burst at the end is killer.

At this point they might as well introduce some stretch goals to ride that wave all the way to the end. Otherwise the last two days might be "wasted".

I have zero issues with bugs, or stuff that isn't there yet (I mean, people, I know what a prototype fucking is). It's what is there that gives me concern, namely the overly long conversations and repetitive quests. Admittedly the latter can be placeholders set there to give the player something to do in the demo, and the former can be tweaked, but then the proto hasn't much to show. I didn't find it fun to play, which is the entire reason prototypes exists (prototyping gameplay to see if it's fun before comitting to anything else). Of course this is probably not so much a prototype as something cobbled together with the assets they've developed to make the videos to pitch the game. I wouldn't know what to call it, but prototype probably isn't.

What's with the obtuseness here?

Kicktraq has it at 95% with it trending towards 100%! The jump this has had over the last few days has been great.

Thank you for the thoughtful response. Now if you'd all kindly stop quoting me so I don't have to explain over and over what should be a pretty easy to understand position if people weren't so upset by the simplest form of criticism, that'd be peachy for everyone. Thanks for your collaboration.

Did the demo help? That was a sudden jump in backers. Looking much better now especially since most people like to back during the last day.

So close, this is getting funded within the day!

Hope Swery has a couple of realistic strech goals prepared and ready to go for the last 48h push.

Eh, forget the stretch goals. The anaemic funding this game has got is already pushing it. Unless they're adding slacker backing just be happy with whatever change they make above this.

Recall that they were asking for 1M in the fig campaign, which even there isn't much to fund a game like this.

It looked really bad for a long time, but there's been a lot of activity for the last few days (prototype demo + switch + new round of articles + YT videos, etc. + end of the campaign). Would be a shame to not make use of that and try to get it to 110-125% with some easy to implement strech goals like a guest character or something. Strech goals are a great motivator towards the end of a KS and every cent that goes to the game can only be good :)

Backed it, but I am feeling lukewarm on it since Swery's stuff has never really done it for me. Deadly Premonition was too broken to play it on PC at least (I realize it got fixed down the road), and while I played and enjoyed D4 felt rather deflated by how that all went down.

Mostly just supporting because I think we need more experimental games, not less. Still waiting on practically everything I have ever backed, though, so this is gonna have to stop for me eventually.
