So glad this got funded. Statistically, something like ~98% of Kickstarters that break the 25-30% threshold go on to get funded, but for a while, I was worried about this one.

Definitely gonna be picking this up upon release, but I just can't afford to back it at the moment unfortunately.

Super glad they hit their goal though.

This is up for debate, but I do believe several things in the last week outside of the natural last few days boost helped it. Keep in mind this wasn't just luck, the studio had prepped some surprises in for the last week to gain momentum that worked. A week ago we were barely 50% funded, and there was a greater standstill than usual for a Kickstarter. Getting several large YouTubers and sites to cover it in the last week I honestly believe is what gave it the push it needed.

But I'm very happy that Swery and the Panzer Dragoon guy get to make their small town cat game.

Goood, will play another Swery game, that is awesome!
Take your chance switch owners, even if it doesn't reach the goal they'll use the extra funds for the game anyway and you'll sure have a pc laying around to check it out.

I'm backing now, but if it doesn't hit the goal I'm changing my pledge to $1.

I think it has a good chance though, now that places like GoNintendo and Nintendo Life will report on it.

YAY!

Didn't have the spare cash to fund this, but I'm super happy for Swery and the team! I'll definitely get it when it drops.

Wish the Switch goal was possible but o well.

Happy for Swery, Mega 64, and the Super Best Friends.
If Nintendo sites/voices publish the news before the campaign is over, plus the 48 hour boost that'll be coming shortly (when people get notified the campaign is 48 hours from completion), it might be possible, but to be seen. It definitely is a bit of a tight squeeze, but the campaign did manage to make $150,000 in two days, so I won't say it's impossible for it to make $200,000 in the last 53 hours.

Chipped in a couple days ago, glad to see it funded. Swery seems like a good-natured dude who just wants to make his weird games and I'm all for it.

I've checked out the Kickstarter page back when they teased the Switch version, that was a few days ago and it didn't look like the goal was doable. Now it's there. So what is it, Switch version got people excited or is this the final stage of a Kickstarter in effect?

If the former, there might still be hope for that stretch goal.

Yay! I'm stoked this is getting funded. This is my first time backing a crowdfunded project. Seems like a good place to start.

Oops, I just posted in the other thread not realizing this probably updated too.

Extremely pleasantly surprised to see it turn around, especially after seeing the demo at PAX East (though sadly I didn't get a chance to say hi to Swery). Now I just gotta hope everything goes well during development.

Yo it seems super sleazy to post that picture of the game on Switch only to reveal the stretch goal after it gets funded. Either you commit to the system or you post both things at the same time. Definitely wanted his cake and to eat it too.

I don't think so. They tested it, they can get it working, but ports do take time and money - and when they only have so much money (and time is always finite), they're just laying out the cards that it's possible but being honest of a realistic goal of how much it'd probably cost for man hours to port it to Switch (plus Switch licensing and other factors). They were thinking about it, and were open it wasn't part of the initial Kickstarter funding level goal (were pretty clear it was PC/PS4 that was being funded). Switch is a stretch goal if they get the funding to make it happen, or if it doesn't if they can manage it later or not.

This is what Kickstarter is all about, getting truly off the wall stuff made.

Good luck Swery.

It is kind of weird though to ask for such a big amount for a Switch version and then say that if it doesn't happen they'll use the money to add stuff. 1) That seems very vague and non committing and 2) I'm pretty sure someone who would jump now to get a Switch version doesn't care for his money going to improve the PS4 and Steam versions, but they'll get charged anyway. I just feel like Switch owners are getting asked an awful lot here.

And what if you're a PS4 or Steam owner that really wants additional content? Do you donate hoping the money collected increases but not enough to get to 800k? I don't know the more I think about it the weirder and more unpractical it appears.

It is indeed the standard banking on the latest hot stuff to get more money, remember Project Car Wii U?

With a little less than 200k to reach the stretch goal, is it possible to make it?

As I mentioned earlier, I made a prediction for where it would end up, and it's not particuarly far from the stretch goal. If it outperforms my expectations a bit, it'll get there.

(My expectations may, of course, be miles out!)

I think 800k is way too high if pledges keep coming like the last few days and nothing changes dramatically.

But it's possible that Swery and team have something special planned for the last 48h push like a livestream and other announcements/incentives to pledge or raise pledges. 200k is a lot of ground to make up though.

But hey, it didn't look like this would get funded at all for the longest time, so who knows!

SWERY just woke up and posted an update: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/476090608/the-good-life/posts/2176929

He talks Switch versions, slacker backing with BackerKit, and also how backers will be able to buy t-shirts and stuff without altering their pledge.

I have a Switch and generally want every game there, but honestly I'm kind of hoping they get close, but DON'T make the goal. I'd be worried that adding another platform would end up being an overall drag on their development pipeline in the long run. Plus I'd rather have more features than have their focus be mainly on adding another platform.
