No, and while the superior X versions may sting a little (The Witcher 3, Hitman) I can't justify the purchase of another console even if it has spectacular backwards compatibility that I yearn for.

Yeah between X enhancements and BC, my Pro is there for exclusives.

I've really learned my lesson now about multiplats. I'm still SUPER pissed at myself from last gen for starting so many multiplats on PS3 that are now BC on Xbox.

I'm aware that I can just start them again on Xbox but my trophy OCD simply won't allow it. Fuck.

on paper those differences are huge and impressive but in reality its hard to perceive a huge difference without seeing them side by side
Or you compare on the same TV that has connected a Pro and a One X as I did with my neighbors PS4 Pro and my own Xbox One X as I only have a PS4 Slim. Comparison took place with similar or identical scenes. Result: There was only one game he was not able to see a big difference and that was FF15. All others we tested (where we had both the same game) my neighbor saw the difference (RotTR, ACO, GhostRecon: Wildlands). After we did the comparison, one week later he told me he bought an X. He never owned a Xbox before btw.

P.S. The comparison took place on a LG B6 OLED 65" by switching between HDMI channels.

I would love an opportunity to dump my ps4 pro and buy an Xbox one x. I definitely would get all my third party games on xb1x; and be super stoked for BC games.

It's not just looking the best on the one x. It's the confidence of knowing all my games will carry over to next gen seamlessly.

I absolutely fucking despise my xbox.

I've only got it for exclusive titles that are not on pc.. so like.. Halo.

I'd rather play the lesser version and stay on my playstation, never bothered me on PS3 and won't bother me here.

As a both consoles owner (newer X owner) Sony should make an statement about their next generation BC policy. I need this to take a decision. I mainly play on PS4 but this could change on the time being...

I get them on X because 1, the hardware and 2, im more likely to have the game still work on the next console on xbox than i am on playstation. Their work with BC (with enhancements) has made it an easy decision for me.

Yes, because my PS4 is extremely loud. I hate it. My xboX is the opposite. Much better

The menu in GoW makes my Pro sound like a jet taking off. I just don't get it. I'm about ready to try replacing the thermal paste because it's so obnoxious. My X1X is completely silent.
Feels like the Pro was rushed out before the X and it shows - or screams. Do better Sony.

hard for you and him probably

I think this says more about your eyesight! Or TV. I can understand if you're struggling to see the difference between 1800p and 2160p unless you have a decent sized TV and eyesight, but in a game like The Evil Within 2 for example, going from Pro's 1260p to X's 1800p is obviously night and day. Even games like Dishonored 2, Wolf 2 and Farcry 5 are instantly noticeably sharper without any side by side comparisons needed - and once you get used to this it's difficult to go back.

There is another major difference between Pro and X of course, that's impossible to miss even if your TV is switched off.

I just want to say that yeah there is a difference, and its definitely easier to see side by side, but in all honesty when you start playing its fps that actually makes the longest lasting impact. 4K looks nice but after sometime those differences dont really impact me and I couldn't care less. So I can see why some individuals really dont care or just dont to see the difference at a first glance.

Now I know there individuals out there that look for any little increase in quality but that isn't a deciding factor for majority of ppl.

I enjoy Sony's first party stuff...but it's usually a play once never play again type deal on most titles

I find because of Xbox unlocked region accounts I can swap regions and buy the cheapest digital copy and dlc without any of the annoying ps4 region/account crap

So mines basically for a different reason...the visuals are just a nice cherry

As much as I want to do this (Monster Hunter World runs noticeably well on X), my friends are all still PS4 users, and that's where my online community has been since 2014. I can't really change it now at this point.

Witcher 3 was my first third party game on X. I will buy all third party games on X from now on. Out of the first party, only Halo 5 MP is my thing.

Love the UI, but hate how clunky taking screenshots is compared to PS4.

I get that this is your opinion, and that's fine but I've now seen it so many times so I want to comment on it in general.

I really dont see how "Sony" games are any more throw away than any other. To me pretty much every game is play once material unless its GAAS and a good multiplayer. Like objectively can anyone explain how Sony games are the worst for multiple play throughs?

The games are not bad...don't get me wrong....but Sony's 1st party stuff are generally single player games and to me once you have played through offer no more replayability outside of collecting trophys or the odd dlc add-on like the frozen wilds but I find no other compelling reason to go back and play them

Give ms shit for concentrating on gaas but it's a model that adds continued content and most of the ms 1st party stuff is multiplayer so it's always a different experience so its a big point of difference i think which people overlook

Hope that explains my reasoning....it's not bagging out Sony's first party stuff which I love but it's a single serve experience on ps4 for me.

What else would you buying the 1X for outside of BC? Makes very little sense to buy an Xbox 1X and then keeping playing gimped versions if third party games on your PS4.

I agree for sure, and that's why I commented in general since I've seen so many ppl say it. GAAS is definitely where the time playing is. I've put a ton of time in Fortnite more than most games. But I just feel it isn't just Sony, it's pretty much every game. I can list the endless amounts of games I've gotten bored with and dropped or raced through outside of Sony exclusives. Many of them third party publishers. I tend to actually finish sony games because they dont bloat as much as other games.

So yeah when I can I do buy it on the X if its single player game. Thing is recently most of my game time is going towards ps exclusives (or MHW which has acted like an exclusive) so it's kind of a mute point.

Gimped? Ok then.

Third party games still look amazing on the Pro, and there are other factors apart from visuals that may make the PS4 version the best option.

They're gimped relative to the 1X versions, doesn't mean that they're bad. If you had a PS4 Pro and then bought a 1X but then still played all your third party games on the PS4, what was the point of getting the Xbox? Having the best third party console games is the main reason to buy the the thing for most people.

If sony bought back games like socom ....mag..warhawk..twisted metal.it would probably mean more time on the ps4 for me .....I miss those games

X, X-enhance, BC, better (elite) controller (my preference) and it's much much quieter than my pro. All reasons anything non exclusive is X based.

I've read user comments on here where they only bought an X for enhanced BC games. I've got both and sometimes I'll get the Pro version if there isn't much of a difference ie AC Origins.

I'll be picking up the Witcher 3, which I've finished twice in the past on PS4, for the X so I can play it with the enhancements.

I'd assume that most people who own a PS4 Pro and then buys an Xbox One X would plan on playing third parties on the X for the rest of the generation.

I got RE7 Gold for PS4 during the Amazon pricing error late last year, and I still bought it for my new One X a few weeks ago because of the huge visual upgrade.

Nope waiting for PS5 for the graphics upgrade for next gen. For now Pro does a pretty great job. Also Sony's exclusives are what keeps me tied to PS brand.

This thread isn't about justifying buying an X, it's for people who own both and asking what platform they'll use mainly for third party titles......

I'll definitely be picking up RDR 2 for the X instead of the Pro.

Can't answer the poll accurately given how I use the two systems.

For cross platform games that need a large competitive user base like say fighting games, I tend to go for PS4 Pro.

For stuff that just require pure graphical grunt like Assassin's Creed Origins, I'll go Xbox One if I come across something on sale.

But then, I also have a pointlessly strong PC so best for multiplatform is generally going to be there unless I want quality HDR implimentation.

I'll go where the power is for consoles and third parties . I enjoyed games like watchdogs 2 on pro but I've now moved everything over to the one x. I really like it. My pro is an exclusive box now which is great with games like God of war. I can't stand the noise of the pro though. Its really poor

I think another factor that could come in to it is how MS are handling BC so far. We're playing 2 generation old games in resolutions far above what they were back then, and 360 games in full native 4K with better effects and framerates. If you buy 3rd party games on Xbox now there's a good chance that come the next console you'll be playing them on it with better framerates and higher resolutions yet again. I think it's amazing that in 10 years time we could potentially be playing Red Dead Redemption or Halo 5 in 8K+ on Xbox.

I've completely switched from buying all my multiplat titles from my Pro to my X, the only exceptions to that rule are Destiny for the ridiculous timed exclusive content, and Monster Hunter world due to the community size.

I bought an X solely (at the time) for the amazing BC support.

Since trying Multiplatform games I think I'll be choosing X from now on. Even a little bit better is worth it for me.

X is nice but assuming the PS5 is backwards compatible, the X is irrelevant. Imo this is the generation backwards compatibility becomes critical and MS fucked up out the gate. I loved my X while I had it but I always found myself buying PS4 titles regardless. Like RDR2 for example is a PS4 Buy, built from the ground up for PlayStation implies the X version will be more brute force and less finesse.

There's a 95% chance RDR2 will be better on 1X despite the marketing deal.

I dont think there's a chance that rdr2 will run better on the pro..I mean why it would? The x is just better hardware...maybe moneyhattin them but ..that would become an instant insult to the devs and R* aren't stupids
So no. 99.9% best vesrion will be on the X
