Theres a crazy theory from reddit that the series is being cancelled and a new show will take over in its place. Basically Gotham but with a new name, which goes with the apparent Reboot. The thinking is that this new show will air on the upcoming DCU streaming service.

Now this is totally just someones made up theory, so its not based on anything other than the show runners lack of worry about a cancellation.

This could also be why the new Metropolis show for the DCU service, made by the Gotham showrunners, was just delayed.

Either way, I cant wait to find out if/when this show will come back after finally getting hooked on it lol.

Holy shit! That clip with Jeremiah as the Joker is insanely good!!

He is clearly inspired by Nicholson's Joker in a way, even considering himself to be "an artist".

They MUST renew this!!

Coffin as a battering ram lol

That's not going well for Jeremiah.

Amazing... Simply AMAZING.

The Proto Harley costume is superb. I repeat: I can't believe a live action show is giving us better designs that the "DC Cinematic Universe".

But I don't quite get it... Did Jeremiah choke Jerome unconscious? And that was before Jerome "escaped" the maze, right? I'm a little bit confused about when Jerome's plan stops and where Jeremiah's begins.

Also, again, these incredible designs!

Gotham has one of the best production designs on tv,
its like some HBO or Netflix tier stuff but actually visually feels higher quality than Marvel's Netflix stuff.
Hell Gotham city itself looks better than the movie efforts.

I was so dang sick of Joker before Gotham got "him" and started doing fun stuff with him.
Back at Arkham Origins I legit said i'd be good never seeing Joker get a major focus again in any medium....
I was wrong.

i think it was all Jeremiah

Jerome's last Hurrah was gassing Jeremiah.

Do you guys think that the reason they won't call the character "Joker" is just because they can't? I was thinking that maybe it's some issue with the rights to the character and/or his name? Like, DC only allowed the use of "The Joker" in the cinematic universe, and this is why we just get "Jerome" and "Jeremiah"?

Sort of like when Marvel was not allowed to use "Mutants" as a term in their movies because Fox had the rights?

Nah, Gotham has the legit Batman rights.
WB is weird about rights but not when its as cut and dry as Gotham is with respect to Batman's.
Its basically part of it from the first moment(Unless you have a director like Nolan asking WB not to use characters from his sequel movie in their new cartoon).

The reason we don't actually get Batman on tv is because it would hurt movie money, especially when considering this and Arrow prove that without a shadow of a doubt that Batman can be done better on tv than a movie.
Why go see 1 Batman movie when you can watch a deeper version every single week.

That makes sense. Still I would like Gotham to start refering to the character as "Joker". I mean, we know it's him in basically everything but name, and the showrunners are just teasing us at this point.

I feel like Joker is so integral to Batman they don't want him 100% this far ahead of Batman and are building to it just like Batman.
Next step will obviously be green hair then it will definitely be time already.

Gotham has been absolute fire this season. Why isn't this show getting a lot more hype? It's not just some of the best Gotham has ever offered but some of the best tv in general for me. I am betting a lot of people would be blown away if they revisit this show even if they didn't like earlier season. Edge of your seat entertainment right here!

Sad thing is I think its a bit too out there for many to jump into later.
S1 really puts it in a tough spot because so many don't like it but its too hard to recommend skipping as its extremely important and especially important to giving context to the perpetual escalation that followed S1.

Maybe not a made up theory, because it's based on this article:

Man, this episode was so good. Jeremiah is awesome and much more menacing than Jerome (even though I do like the completely insane craziness more in general). Proto Harley is also great.

As far as I understood the TV scene, it was all Jeremiah after he got gased and he just did it with makeup to get Jerome's followers.

Thats pretty cool. The reddit guy didnt mention it from what I remember, but im sure thats where he got the idea after reading it.

If they are wanting to head in the direction of a Batman origin, I really want them to do a time jump. Bruce is still just way too young on the show imo. But honestly, Bruce is the last person I care about on this show atm. Really like the sprouting relationship between Lee and Ed lol. Wasnt expecting them to actually hook up, but now im seriously rooting for them too!

----

Btw, if anyone is interested in the upcoming No Man's Land arc, Greg Rucka did a really good prose novel for the story. I read it a long time ago, and its a bit easier than reading all the comics.

I sometimes wonder if the change in the character was required because Warner Bros was not liking that the TV show was having a better Joker than the movies were

Cameron Monaghan is a terrific actor.

I was already sold by his portrayal of Jerome and his Joker, but I was blown away by how well he was able to pull off the "mad, yet cold and collected" Joker as Jeremiah.

There's a particular line that really got me in its delivery. The way he says "Jerome wanted to slather you in honey and had you eaten alive by beetles. THAT is mad. Me, if I wanna kill you I'd just do it. I'd shoot you in the head. Simply and sanely."

Holy shit at that delivery.

Gotham has so much bad in its good though even with this episode. The Lee and Riddler stuff is vomit inducing. Last episode was a train wreck and I got so sick of Barbara as a character she's gotten worse than Fish did and they completely mis-used The League in this series. Monaghan has been fantastic throughout and so has Penguin and Butch (when he's not playing love sick puppy). Selena has been much stronger overall in comparison to Bruce this season whose actor is trying way too hard. Gordon has felt like a completly static character since the second season bar some big decisions earlier in season 4.

Show still has the most expensive looking production on TV. I think they should definitely just end it at season 5 and then reboot with a young Batman series starring an older actor.

The long scene where Jeremiah was talking to Bruce in the graveyard was really well done, quite intense.
