This is unbelievable that they don't want to air it on CBS because it's "too good" and instead want to put it on CBS All Access. What kind of excuse is "well the show is beautifully shot with an amazing cast and one of the best received pilots in CBS history so let's not air it on CBS".

A properly done LA Confidential always seemed really off brand for CBS so this isn't really all that surprising.

The problem there is that going by what was established with TBBT Sheldon's dad is going to have to become a really bad person at some point, while the character in the show is shown to be the opposite.
Young Sheldon (and this latest BBT) has done a good job of showing that Sheldon has a tendency to embellish his past on top of the odd filter through which he perceives everything.

Is Young Sheldon stand-alone or do you need to be up to date with TBBT to really appreciate it?

I think it can stand on its own--there have only been a handful of winks at BBT references. One of the best things about the show is all of the other family members. This latest one actually had very little Sheldon in it.

I'm curious to see what CBS does with Superior Donuts considering their problem with diversity.

I mean, same with the brother and the sister really. That's why I feel like they're two different shows. Even Young Shelden isn't an asshole like Old Sheldon.

The big bang theory episode showed that Sheldon had a complete different point of view. His brother did things to protect him that he thought where bullying. Even his grandmother has gone from really sweet old lady to a really sweet old lady to Sheldon but with a mean streak. Anything we know about his dad is still viewed with that filter. Young Sheldon is showing he cares but he doesn't understand his son.

I mean, the reality is one is written as a standard ABC family sitcom and one is written as a Chuck Lorre sitcom with cartoon characters who are loud and have a particular gimmick and now they're trying to reconcile one with the other.

Also, fucking Blindspot made Bill Nye a real person in their universe and made him Patterson's father. I don't think I've seen this before. I mean yeah sometimes shows will use real people playing versions of themselves, but I don't think they've made real people be related to fictional characters before. lol

Oh my god, they also made a Stargate: Atlantis reference because he was a real character in that show. So fucking Blindspot is in the Stargate universe now. lol

I just looked and I guess Martin Gero, a former writer/producer on Atlantis is also on Blindspot, so he must have worked that in.
I have no idea how these deals work. I guess "Rodney Mckay" is generic enough that it could refer to anyone and not the Stargate character so there's no lawsuits to worry about, but it was such an odd callback.

Still, I'd like to think that Stargate is happening in parallel to this show now. It's still better than the dumb tattoo stuff. lol

Found a clip of it, pretty amusing to watch the characters geek out over Bill Nye lol.

"Who is this guy?"
"He's a really famous scientist. I'm sorry sir, she has memory issues."

This is hilarious. Blindspot is enjoyable when it doesn't take itself too seriously. Like with all those Rich Dotcom episodes and this. I should catch up.

Wow SEAL Team had a great action sequence this week including a helicopter getting shot down that didn't look like complete crap on a tv budget.

Decided to check out Cobra Kai last night and it's definitely cheesy ABC Family level of drama, but it was shockingly enjoyable and engaging. Also good to see Victor getting some work post Parenthood and not looking like a stiff board while delivering his lines.

Yeah, I watched half of it yesterday afternoon. It's super entertaining.

'Final Space' Animated Comedy Renewed For Season 2 By TBS
TBS has ordered a second season of Final Space, its breakout animated comedy from indie filmmaker/actor/comedian Olan Rogers.

The intergalactic space saga, produced by Conan O'Brien's Conaco and New Form in association with Turner's Studio T, is TBS' youngest-skewing original series to debut on the network, reaching more than 20 million viewers across TBS' linear, VOD and digital platforms, according to TBS.

Thanks for posting, it's pretty darn neat.

"LA Confidential is one of CBS" best received pilots, beautifully shot with a strong cast. CBS has rolled the dice on a period crime drama with big-name stars before with 2012's Vegas, which ran for one season. While I hear LA Confidential is very much in contention at CBS, there is a lot of talk that it may be a better fit for streaming sibling CBS All Access."

This is unbelievable that they don't want to air it on CBS because it's "too good" and instead want to put it on CBS All Access. What kind of excuse is "well the show is beautifully shot with an amazing cast and one of the best received pilots in CBS history so let's not air it on CBS".
It might mean it's so good in its current format that they wouldn't want to edit parts out of it to make it work on TV. By putting it on All Access, they're free to ride with whatever violence, nudity and swearing they deem important to the plot points. I'm glad The Good Fight is on All Access and not on regular CBS for that very reason.

I do kinda miss the ways they would work around swears. The one episode where there was a wonky window in the courtroom that conveniently opened and let very loud outside noises in every time someone was about to say a "bad" word. That the episode itself is about broadcast standards was just peak Good Wife (I do love how they work in meta narratives/jokes).
Then again, The Good Fight has used the newfound ability to say naughty words to some terrific extent. The f-bomb drop in episode two of the second season was just so damn good.

Also I think this forum is responsible for like 90% of all mentions of The Good Fight on the internet.

I'm a fan of the nudity in episode one of season 2. Hard to work around that on regular CBS.

According to the Deadline pilot roundup, CBS basically think the L.A Confidential pilot is too good for their channel... They're considering moving it to CBS All Access or selling it to Netflix/Amazon.

First time i'm hearing about an LA Confidential show. Given the movie is in my top 5 favorite movies ever made, i can't see myself getting into it, it would never live up to Hanson's masterpiece, especially from CBS of all places. It's still the only movie where i actually like Russell Crowe's acting lol

EDIT: ok and The Nice Guys.

I know right? That locked fucking good, I wonder if they had a stunt pilot doing that and had smoke effects pouring out.
Seemed like it,
Also probably why they specified they would use those helicopters, instead of using cg or expensive modern/upgraded helicopters for that scene.

That was really well done and can't wait for that next episode.

Im glad they haven't gone crazy and tried to CG in the stealth blackhawk like Valor did, looked so bad.

You can watch Young Sheldon as a standalone, but it ties into some things that Big Bang Theory has covered, as you'd expect. It's a surprisingly good show, too, and I enjoy it more than its parent these days. They did a good job with the casting, especially Sheldon, his sister, the mom and the grandma.

Casting the mom was easy, but the sister and the grandmother are absolutely perfect.

AMC has ordered Unapologetic with Aisha Tyler, a companion talk show to its upcoming series Dietland set for premiere next month.

Unlike a conventional after show confined to the companion series itself, AMC says Unapologetic will feature Tyler leading a topical discussion around the broader, female-centric issues and themes that Dietland explores. She'll talk with celebrity fans, series actors and producers, as well as relevant journalists, writers and comedians.

"The issues of identity, sexuality, body image and self-actualization raised in Dietlandare more urgent than ever. Our dynamic, rapidly evolving cultural climate demands a frank, no-holds-barred exchange about the ideas and questions raised by the book and series, and the real-world events and issues women face every day. I'm looking forward to expanding the #metoo conversation in funny, honest and engaging ways. It's about time," said Tyler.

THR article on Jeffrey Tambor (note that there's a thread regarding the article here) includes this tidbit:
As for the future of Transparent, Soloway has begun to feel "a tiny bit like we are going to be OK." The writing staff has begun discussions on how to tackle the show's fifth — and, Soloway reveals, final — season. "Hopefully it sets the Pfeffermans up with some sort of beautiful reclaiming," Soloway says. "I think we're going to get there with some time."

Another day, another show Fuller leaves

http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/27...tv-series-pilot-is-written-but-fuller-is-out/

First off, we learned from Anne herself that Hannibal and American Gods exec producer/writer Bryan Fuller is no longer involved with the project as he "chose to move on" this past February. While we are big fans of Fuller around these parts, there was a small part of me that wasn't quite sure he was the right guy for The Chronicles so I remain optimistic that this small hiccup will result in even bigger and better things in the future.
