Probably been asked a million times already, but is there any way to unlock Funky Kong in Normal Mode, or any way to make Funky Mode play like Normal Mode?

If you complete the game in Funky mode you can play it again but in hard mode.

No other way to play as Funky as far as I know.

did you guys just fly thru every stage not worrying about letters and puzzles and complete the game or try to 100% as you go

For Returns, I played every stage for the first time getting all the letters and trying to find as many puzzle pieces as I could, and then after beating the boss visited every level again with squawks for the rest of the pieces. I imagine I'll do the same with TF

I HIGHLY recommend flying past the bonus stages at the least. They really take away from the flow of the game, interrupting the beautiful level themes with bland music/visuals and repetitive room designs.

Thank you!

Bland music?!?! What?? No.

The remix of the Jungle Hijinks is amazing and the best remake of that track to date!! I wish it featured outside a K level

I wish with the enhanced specs there was a smoother transition to the Boss Beat Down than an akward fade out.

The cheapest looking thing in DKTF to me.

At 6-4 now and the game doesn't feel all that hard honestly. I think after cuphead and Celeste bashing me around I've just grown as a platform player. I mean I've died plenty but nothing that felt even hard just me not hitting a jump or not paying attention. Not hard from a game design stand point at least.

Jelly Jamboree has to be one of my favorite stages in the game. The bouncing platforms are just so fun.

World 5 in general is just fantastic.

Traded in Kirby and MHW and picked it up. Worth every penny, feels so good. I mean I enjoyed Kirby but DKTP is just on another level. Had the game on Wii U but traded it in before I beat it since I was sort of done with the Wii U at that point. I'll probably do a normal run and then a funky run. Also flipped the cover so I can be funky.

....what?

I don't get how anyone could think the music in this game is just decent.

It's inspired, emotional, full of life, it evolves and changes as you progress, uses numerous different types of instruments and styles, it has a wonderful atmosphere, and I could go on.

I honestly don't think the music is anything special in this game either. Certainly not on the level of the earlier DKC games. It just all feels rather.... lifeless to me. To be fair, there are some stand out arrangements, but the overall quality is just.... ok like they said.

This is quickly becoming one of my favourite games... maybe ever! I just have a couple nitpicks here and there but the game itself is just too good, so much attention to detail and little moments of interactive glory that make me remember why I love videogames as an art form so much.

I feel like that's just the nostalgia talking honestly. The tracks in these games are just as good as the old ones. At least better than DKC 3's soundtrack.

I'm at a loss for words here.....I don't get it.
And you like the original DKC music so now what you're saying just sounds inconsistent to me.

Lifeless?

But you do you.

Ok maybe lifeless was the wrong word, I guess generic would be more apt. It's just the overall quality of the soundtrack was rather underwhelming to me after all of the hype for it going around, I even find myself enjoying some of the rearrangements of the older themes less than the originals. I am just starting World 4, so maybe my opinion of the overall soundtrack will change by the end and after replaying levels for 100/200%.

A man can't fully judge Tropical Freeze's soundtrack until they reach 6-2.

Tropical Freeze is probably David Wise's best soundtrack ever, possibly better than DKC 2. What's he known for? Atmospheric ambiances with diatonic harmonies, delayed melodies and the use of many instruments and samples to show a variety of moods. TF's soundtrack's got all of that in spades.

This game has the best soundtrack of all time imo. I love the Rare trilogy (I like it a bit more than the new games because it's theme was pretty dark) but this music is absolutely amazing. Every piece of this OST is a masterpiece.

Just finished getting 100% in Original Mode! *phew*

That was quite the step up from Funky mode! I had already done 100% back in the Wii U release, but quite a few of the levels still provide a tough challenge even today.

Once you nail a level in Tropical Freeze you feel like a master of the game, I had to remember to save a couple 30 second runs just when I get in the groove of things. Just had an all around amazing time with these levels.

I love Funky's smug face at the end of bonus rooms even when you didn't get shit.

Someone please explain to me why this game is so fucking good. How is it possible that the level design is this tight? The mind boggles.

I now feel like a sinner for not playing it on Wii U more.

I just beat it and I thought the game was great but definitely not as good as I was expecting considering the massive praise I've heard it get. I honestly feel like Rayman Legends was a better pure platformer and lengthier to boot, IMO.
