Bob Iger says that after Avengers there will be what he calls, "a new franchise" and then says that that doesn't necessarily mean that we won't get more Avengers. This makes me think that we might not get Avengers 5 for a while and inplace of Avengers we might get something new.

Listening to the Disney Q2 earnings call.

Iger said they've plotted out the Marvel movies into the next decade and says they are going to try their hand at a new franchise. He didn't name it, but that's The Eternals.

If you're correct, I would assume he means "franchise" in the GotG sense, and not in the Avengers sense where Sersi, Ikaris, Makkari, etc. get their own movies. But you never know.

Just like it definitely could be Eternals, it can be Young Avengers and hell, even Champions, X-Men or F4. Making the teenager MCU team is something that I definitely see happening in Phase 4, besides F4 and probably X-Men.

Yea that's how he was describing it. The person who asked him thought that there were no more Avengers movies after the IW ending (Iger said there will always be Avengers) but he was talking about it like a big Avengers/GotG team franchise.

I'm thinking there'll probably be a pseudo Avengers film (like Civil War) before Avengers 5 comes out. Especially if Chris Evans and RDJ don't renew their contracts. It makes sense to sell people on such a different team of Avengers in a smaller movie first.

Watched BP for the second time finally, I enjoyed it A LOT more the second time around since I didn't have the horribly distracting audience this time. The first time I had a guy sitting next to me who had an apple watch with this little light on, a phone in the cupboard with another little light on and if this wasn't enough distractions, he kept stretching out his legs over and over and over. And then there was a kid in our row that kept stomping and he literally did it the entire fucking movie and his parents never told him to stop. Oh yeah and the fucking screen was calibrated horribly, so everything was SUPER dark and every scene looked like it was crazy dark. Apparently the outdoor scenes were really bright and pretty, I had no idea.

Worst movie experience I've had. I remember being 30 minutes in and thinking, "I've barely been able to pay attention to what's going on".

Hopefully Thunderbolts is one of the groups in mind. We need to see Daniel Bruhl donning the purple mask as Zemo this time and assembling the team. And make sure Songbird gets a huge push as the female MCU antihero, she should even be co-leader or have an arc towards that.

Yeah.. Cinema really can be horrible sometimes. Was watching IW Saturday and was constantly uncomfortable by this dude sitting a couple of seats next to me. He just made these weird noises through the whole film. Wasn't sure if he just couldn't breathe or if he was actually masturbating or something.

Luckily it was my 3rd viewing so it didn't ruin the film completely.

I've been seeing lots of back and forth online about whether or not the film rights Fox has are transferable or not. I can't remember if that's come up in this thread but does anyone know anything about that? You know, in case Comcast outbids Disney for Fox.

I dont know for sure. But it was my understanding that FOX can not sell their Marvel licenses. However if someone buys 20th Century Fox entirely, then the license would carry over.

I hope come 2019, everybody will be into the Kree-Skrulls war. With 90s "which side are you on" commercials and shoutings.

I'm definitely Skrulls, they look so adorably cute.

We should just cheer on Carol in unison, and shout her name from one end of our galaxy to another end of another galaxy.

Just finished watching Black Panther again yesterday. What are the chances Everett Ross makes a cameo in Captain Marvel? And I guess the same can be asked of Rhodey? Would be a nice little surprise to see either show up.

I think I've said this here before, but I would love it in Avengers 4 if Carol and Steve called each other "Air Force" and "Army" as a friendly banter in the field.

Secret Invasion is so perfect for marketing material with the 'everyone could be a Skrull' angle. If the Skrulls are happening in CM (confirmed, right?) then I can see Secret Invasion being one of the next big events they do

Secret Invasion should be a Captain Marvel movie, like how Civil War was a Captain America movie.

But the way he described made it sound like the new franchise would be their new Avengers, or something bigger than Avengers. Eternals strikes me as the kind of thing that could be positioned as the new GOTG, rather than the new "beyond" Avengers.

Thunderbolts is such a great idea-Bucky, Ghost and Vulture are great ideas. Led by Red Hulk of course.

They need Zemo again.
He was superb. Zemo was the first real tactical genius in the mcu movies, he succeded. Give him a suit that resembles the concept art. I also would love Venom in the Thunderbolts... so Tom Hardy would get a connection to the real MCU.

Zemo and Rulk would be more interesting to me than Bucky in the Thunderbolts

A Thunderbolts roster without Moonstone ain't no Thunderbolts I want to deal with. My ideal roster would be the original nineties roster but with maybe Ghost in place of Mach I (I kind of wonder if he's tied up in Spider-man rights?). Have it be Thunderbolt Ross as their sort of "Nick Fury" type who gathers the team together because he wants a government sanctioned replacement for the Avengers, and because he's a terrible judge of character he puts Zemo in charge, who fills the team with likewise imprisoned super criminals. Songbird would be the main viewpoint type character who most wants to be a hero. The whole plot would be Zemo attempting to break the public's love of heroes by going along with the charade for a bit before fucking everything up in a spectacular public fashion, including something like turning Thunderbolt Ross into the Red Hulk publicly or something. And then Songbird and the rest of the more heroic members would defeat Zemo and such in the end. I dunno.

The way Gunn keeps saying he didn't say Adam was going to be in Vol. 3 but won't actually just deny it makes me think he's going to be in the film but there will be a swerve of some sort.

He might skip Warlock and go straight to Magus if he's an actual villain and not a new Guardian. He takes more liberties with characters than anybody else in the MCU.

I still dislile Gunn's pushing of Kraglin. I mean it is his brother.. feels kinda akward.

Also I started to dislike how much Gunn strays away from the source material, a little bit is ok, but he is going more and more in a different direction.

Still love the Guardians though and also the movies, but in my head a more traditional version of them would be even more badass

And what's the problem with that? The comics have many different iterations, timeline, universes and what not that changes or adds new stuff, this is not really different.

I'm more than okay with any of the liberties that have been taken in the MCU so far. That's being said, ask me about that point again after Captain Marvel comes out.

For the most part, due to the liberties that have been taken with characters and events, I prefer most of the MCU versions to the comic book ones.

Especially Thanos.

Gunn is iffy on women characters. The Russos did more for Gamora in her twenty minutes in Infinity War than Gunn did in both Guardians movies.

They obviously use electricity to power stuff. Literally all you need is some wires to connect whatever alien power source they're using to the place where a battery would normally go. You could jury rig something in real life to power that, let alone the crazy tech Star Lord has.

I have to strongly disagree on that. I think Gunn has done really well when it comes to women characters, probably better than anyone else in the MCU. I'd put the Russos almost on the very opposite of the spectrum, frankly.
