Nope! It's literally a localized release of XX (which is a straight port of the 3DS XX) as is.

This gane released a few months before world in japan so no

No. It released before MHW, and doesn't have them. Highly doubt the Western version will have new QoL improvements.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I'll probably skip this then.

Peace

Why not throw PS4/XBox/PC port while there it too? Seems like missing free money tbh

Because owners of those support can buy MHW or will be able to in the next month (PC), why would they care about XX ? XX is a great game, but going back to it after MHW is auto-mutilation. MHXX has more content, but that's it, MHW can offer 170h of content and have everything else going for it.

Cash grab and 1:1 port sell well on Switch (Bomberman, USFII, to a lesser extent : MHXX in japan and so on). Publishers like Capcom have good reasons to throw cash-grab ports on Switch : they bring easy profits and MHGU is exactly that. It's a good move from Capcom business wise.

Edit : forgot the S in "the next monthS" above, in the first line.

It was always coming. People should use their brains more and learn some patience.

Also, I'm straight up laughing at anyone thinking this won't sell well.

Talk about living in the Era bubble.

Gah, all that time poured into the Japanese version :(

I would have waited had I known there was still hope for this. I know there's no way that the save files will be compatible and it's attached to a different account anyway.

Wait 93 large monsters? I thought it was closer to 70. Ridiculous lol
I think it depends on how people count the variants/sub-species. There's a big difference between the ones that look largely like the basic one but are just more aggressive/faster with an extra ability or two, and those whose attack pattern changes completely and requires wildly different tactics. Even then, I wouldn't care to guess how exactly they count it!

So basically what I'm hearing is that World is kind of the more approachable, casual experience with less content yet more QoL improvements, yet this appears to be the true core MH experience yet not beginner friendly and with less QoL?

I guess I should play World first then. I can probably handle the loss of QoL stuff when I get to this.

As someone who loved the old school style of monster hunter, but skipped the 3DS versions because of the controls, I haven't really gotten that fix other than MH3U on WiiU - I'm so here for this.

While I get how the improvements in MHW generally made the game smoother and easier to play, I personally found the quirks of the old series kind of charming for the most part. I'll be plopping down a preorder as soon as it hits amazon.

But on the flip side for all those folks that were disappointed with the lack of content in MHW or the lack of local multiplayer (huge oversight) will likely really take to this game. Local multiplayer is what made MH huge. So for the differences, some are good. More content, local multiplayer, etc.

In Japan maybe, in the west what made MH huge is MHW. And XX lacks all QoL and weapon and control changes from World.

I will get this!

But I'm not sure if it is going to do well over all. Last year was the best time to release this.

For those familiar with XX, does it lay off the uh, completely dogshit gen 1 areas? And the gen 2/1 monsters?

Because MH wasn't good until Gen 3.

I just imported this game a few months ago. Why didn't Capcom just say they were doing this. Why the hell did they play coy.

So they actually brought it over. I dont know if im "excited" over something that should have been out a year ago but whatever. I'll see what is out around that time to see if i want to jump in. It's going to be full price isnt it? lol

I wouldn't call World a casual experience. It's still a core MH game. It simply has lots of QoL improvements that make it easier to get into.

Where are you seeing this?

I think peeps are going by the fact that Nintendo announced it on their Twitter.

I had been thinking since their earnings statement last week that there could be hope for Monster Hunter on Switch. It's a glacial move on Capcom's part, but a good one.

I'm going to miss the quality of life improvements from World, but I'm going to love playing in local wireless mode with my friends.

World was truly great, but I'm one of those crazies that prefers my monster hunting portable.

Yeah, that's the smart way to do it. World is an incredible game too, I'd say one of Capcom's best games ever. Do that, get hooked, then go back to Generations Ultimate.
Also you're still blocked, thx

Before MHW, I would have agree. Now thought?

People here should really pick up their 3DS back and try. The second stick does'nt magically make the game less rigid than before.
Consider that to casual audiences who learned of the series with World, the differenciation doesn't exist. All they know is that this is a new MH, for the hot new console.

Gen 3 is literally the worst gen tho

Funny enough, each 3ds mh game was more beginner friendly than the last one!

I think is just pure hyperbole and fanboy drift to call MHW "casual". Bringing very necessary controls and QoL tweaks is not making a game casual...

On a real roll.

Let World flounder with no meaningful content on a base with no meaningful end-game content.
Take a year to release a localization of a dated game *after* the next gen release.
Lose the PC release of World in the woods.

That's cacpcom alright.

You got it.

And there are a lot of those people now considering MHW's sales. MH Switch isn't doing a bit less than a million.
