So ... what was the fallout from the shooting in first episode of season 1. They went to jail. Made bail. People kept referencing him bellowing a dudes head off, but I thought they were exaggerating.

That gun was from episode one right? A season long set up, wow.

I only now realised that when Earn asked the jewish dude if black lawyers could be as good as jewish lawyers, it was basically him asking if he as a black man could be as good a manager as a white dude (Clark County's manager etc.). No matter how good he gets, he won't have as many connections because of systemic issues.

Also, I wan't to see the europe tour, culture clash!

Katt Williams' character even says "You're gonna need this in the music business" lmao

I need to rewatch this at some point just to appreciate how things connect together knowing what happens. Things like Al's experience with Bibby (him finally getting rid of him only to regret it) and the end of FUBU (Al's mom saying that they need to stick together, which is even stronger in his mind after she passed away) really set up Al keeping Earn as his manager.

Not to say he's not thinking about upgrading, but in the end I don't think he would ever be able to do it.

Gears of War 4.

The Prologue chapter to be exact.

So did the gun get passed down again, or as soon as TSA shouted about the gun the manager had to take the fall?
Earn asked him for a bin and I assume that's when Earn put it in his bag when he wasn't looking

Edit: or am I misremembering? I thought Earn asked the manager for a bin

The manager took the fall. When Earn asks Clark for a bin, Earn slips the gun into Clark's bag when he turns to get the bin for Earn. Then TSA holds up Clark's bag.

I doubt Clark actually moved the gun to his manager's bag. More than likely his manager just took the fall for him. That's typical rap nigga shit; it's never the artist's gun/drugs/etc. when the feds come calling.

The big question is how Clark will take it and if he'll do anything when they're on tour. We saw from when he was in the studio the dude puts on a nice and friendly face, but he loses his temper quick. Earn's plan to get him off the flight (improvised) didn't quite work out, but he must know it was one of them

This episode legit had me stressed out forreal. It perfectly captured the dread they were going for.

So glad to see Earn snatch a W after this ruthless season, damn.

Earn has no reason to be bent out of shape over Van and Lotte. Van practically begged him to be a bigger presence in both their lives and he trieed to play cool and do the FWB thing. don't go moping around now earn.

Fuck Tracy lol.

Episode was real af. I was tense throughout. Nice that they ended it on a happy note, at least compared to the rest of the season. The hits came on strong as always though. And that cinematography.

Every actor and character was excellent in this one. Great convos. Gotta love Darius.

The episode with kid Earn letting the other kid literally take the fall makes the finale work even better. Crabs in a barrel indeed.

Clark will likely have more of a role if another season happens, he def knew what was up (the way the characters usually behaves + that jokey "wish it was mine though"). This show can go anywhere, really. I hope Donald has it in him to make another one... He probably needs more time than anything.

I'll miss this show.

Yeah honestly he comes across as a bad father in my eyes. Dunno about partner and all that, but he could step it up a bit as a dad.

I didn't even think he cared when he saw the message from Van. I should watch it again cause it seemed like it was just a "whatever" thing to him

He went and sat down and freaked out in quiet.

He tjen told Darius his life is falling apart right after, because Al might fire him and he needs money for his family

In an ideal world if next season is the last it's about how to come up and get far without screwing others over and being with those that give a fuck.

That ain't happening though

I went to check episode 1 of season 1 because with the couch scene I felt some connections. This does work as a show finale. There are probably more, but here are some nice parallels:

One really subtle throwback I'm a little surprised that I haven't seen mentioned in any articles or posts; the car driving by the trio on the couch is playing No Hook by OJ Da Juiceman, which is the first song that plays during the title card and maybe the only thing you see Earn listening to on headphones in the whole show.

Damn good catch, I really hope this isn't a "if the show ended here, we left it at a good spot" type of thing...

I need some more damn seasons!

If the show ended right here i feel like it it would be a wasted opportunity. To do something for such a short period of time robs it of its potential in both acclaim and in messaging.

Yeah, I want another season more than anything, but after the long wait for the second one and knowing where Donald is at now I'm going to try and make peace with the possibility that this might end here, if only because scheduling conflicts are a thing. It will hurt less this way if that's the case.

Btw, Hiro Murai just signed a separate deal with FX to produce other shows for them. We'll see where that goes.

That, the "what is in my backpack" drawing in Lottie's school, looks like this episode is packed with these. Great stuff.
Love this show. Check the wall on the left.

Between this is America and this season of Atlanta watching the maturation of DG as an artist has been nothing short of breathtaking.

I never got into community but I caught a lot of his stuff on Derrick comedy back in the day and enjoyed Childish Gambino in starts so when Atlanta premiered I was excited to see what he had to offer. I loved the first season as much as anything else on that year and eagerly looked forward to season 2.

This year, though, I think we're seeing an artist truly jump ahead unlike anything we've witnessed in a long long time

As a quick aside: if it does come back I'd be surprised if we see anything involving fallout with Clark. This show seems more interested in documenting fatherhood, the hustle, family, being a black man in America, etc than following some through narrative. Obviously there's lots of call backs but I just can't see a straight "what happened on tour" deal

Thank you. I should have pieced that together but I had only connected it to him having that conversation in the frat house and that was his life falling apart

Idk if this is still "canon" or not, but the series was originally suppose to open with the moment Earn got dropped from Princeton. Whatever happened, it involved police and all Earn has to explain for himself is that he "woke up".

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByLO6oNjUOcAV0xJa1VKWENiVWc/view

Man, thanks for sharing that. Damn, I'm obsessed with this show. Any other episodes scripts?

I just noticed when Earn gets that text from Van that his phone background is the photo or his moms, aunt and uncle from the season premier that he took.

Despite Earn's plan not working with the gun, Clark is still gonna be touring Europe without his manager. That's recipe for fucking up. Nobody there to keep tabs on him, work schedules, book transport... All the while, Earn is gonna hustle his ass off to prove to Al that he can do better. Clark still gonna get dropped for not turning up and shit.

Does anyone else wonder if Donald Glover left a photo of his next album's artwork in this season like he did in the previous one? I have an odd feeling. I finished watching the season finale and damn, when Earn said, "definitely not," I felt broken, too.

Just caught the last 2 episodes and man, that FUBU episode is very, very good.

I don't know if it's "Teddy Perkins" good, but it's definitely up there.

But yeah, season 2 is already over. That sucks.

Whew, what a season finale. I was feeling dread the whole episode with that gun. When he finally saw it in the airport I was preparing for the worst. Earn is cold blooded holy shit. Didn't expect him to plant the gun. Finally caught a W. I hope if there is a season 3 we see part of the tour. I really want to see how earn deals with that environment and pressure of touring.

Overall amazing season. I think I like it more than the first. Teddy Perkins put this season over the top for me.

Lol at Tracy in the end. Entirely left out.

Felt dread most of the episode.

Expected Earn to be fired at the airport & the robbery to be seen as his girls chance at a good education until the swerve when he checks his bag, turns his phone back on & hears from Van that Lottie accidentally shot herself.

I forgot about that job Earn had in season 1 until he blew off those guys in the airport; that was a really cool nod, and the couch scene too.

I hope this isn't the end.
