A few days ago I was thinking I should mention that Unmasking The Idol is on Vudu's "Free With Ads" program because it's the movie that Order Of The Black Eagle was a sequel to.
Now it's on the Plinketto board!
Anyway, if you've ever thought that the problem with James Bond is that he's not a ninja, then this movie is for you. There's even a bootleg James Bond title sequence/song.
The villain's lair is fucking amazing. The baboon unfortunately does not drive a tank in this one and no stuntmen get their heads run over.

Two movies I associate with MST3K on there (Deathstalker 3 was in Season 7, Roller Gator is a Rifftrax thing).

I think they will be very disappointed with Deathstalker 3, as it is a very poor movie. And not as fun as something like Space Mutiny or Future War.

But who knows?!?

Great episode. I thought Simon did a very good job.

Did Josh mention The Pit during the re:View of The Gate? I feel like I heard them talking about this movie before but it could just be every bad movie they've used to destroy my will to think.

I thought he was an alright guest, he definitely sounded sufficiently dead inside to be the guy who wrote Blair Witch 2016 though.

I tend to agree with them on cinematic games. Rich liking it so much has been more interested in checking it out.

My dog was entertained by the guest star the whole time.

Let's see... It's been critically lauded by the vast majority of people, so... They hated everything about it?

Rich loved it. Says it's his second favourite PS4 game after Bloodborne. Jack is Jack about it. A lot of whining about story and cinematics and such.

I loved that Rich goes in on him hard about his bullshit towards the end. He was talking some shite in fairness.

Hey, that's great to hear for a change. I tend to ignore what they say in general though. Their opinions on video games can be a little aggravating if I consciously seek them out.

Great episode of BotW though. Love it when they do endings like that.

After endlessly shitting on linear games, Jack want this semi-open game to be more linear.
That's not entirely true. Jack said that he had a problem with the pacing of the game. Rich said that was because Jack foolishly went out of his way to do every single sidequest as soon as it became available. Jack said that he felt obligated to to them. Rich asked why Jack didn't just do them later, at a time when he felt like doing them, and Jack was like "I didn't know you could do that" and Rich gave him shit for that being his own damn fault.

Jack also wanted the game to be somewhat less linear, because as a dad and the player, he was actively fighting Kratos to try and steer him into becoming a better dad, while Rich didn't give a shit and was 100% actively onboard with turning the kid into a murder-machine, and Jack would've liked it if the game had a "dad meter" (so Jack and Rich could both be satisfied).

Then Jack suggested that a story rich game needs controls on it's pacing, otherwise it messes with the story, and spitballed perhaps having a narrower focus on the goal, followed by an unlock at the end where you run around with your kid and do a massive victory lap.

The review ended with Rich (the guy who hates story-based games with a passion) calling it the second-best game on PS4, and Jack saying he had a bad experience, and cautioning people not to power through all the sidequests like he did. Seems like a valuable set of opinions to me.

Is there anybody that actually goes to rlm for video game opinions

hell I barely go to them for movie opinions
I would say that I go to RLM for entertainment (to watch personalities that I like talking about things that are interesting to them/me), but that their opinions are not so objectionable that it becomes impossible for me to hear them.

Like, Rich shits on story games all the time. He shit on one of my favorite 16-bit JRPGs, Lufia 2 on the SNES. But that's okay because it doesn't personally hurt me when he does something like that, it's just Rich being Rich. But then, he says that he loves the new God of War. I already saw a much greater reviewer (the legendary Victor Lucas) gush all over the game, but it means something different when Rich Evans does it too.

I bought and enjoyed FTL specifically because of Rich's endorsements of it, and Rich is the reason why XCOM has a fairly high place in my backlog. I don't think Jack has ever swayed my opinion, but it could happen. And even if it didn't, I still enjoy listening to him talking to Rich about videogames (both as an individual voice, and because it's easier to listen to Rich when he's bouncing things off Jack than when he's just soapboxing).

I know how Rich feels about some story based games. I remember giving Uncharted 3 a go (never tried one before), and I liked playing it... when the game let me play it. There were just too many places where I was just holding a direction on the stick while the game "played" around me. And other parts where I would wait through a cutscene, walk for 30 seconds, hit another cutscene, walk for 15 seconds, then get stopped by yet another cutscene with zero real engagement in between. Just shut it off after that.

Haven't played the new GoW yet, but I'm guessing it's less intrusive.

The Guest is fantastic.

They should re:view the director's Death Note adaptation next haha. I wonder what would Jay think about that.
