Imagine that Sony put Naughty Dog to make a Shadow of The Colossus Horse Racing Game.

For me, this is the same situation.

Such a waste of potential imho.

But hey, it's Retro so i'll wait...

I think Captain Falcon as a guest star would make the sting of this not being an F-Zero game even worse.

I want this to happen, just so we can have infinite salt from the Metroid Fanboys who think Retro can only make Metroid games, even though Retros first non metroid game outsold all the metroid games they made before combined.

Retro is talented enough to take go from FPS games like Metroid to a 2D platformer like DKCR and sell 10 millions, so if anybody can save the continually struggling Starfox franchise, i think Retro is a good bet.

I dunno, if it's anywhere near as good as MK8, then this would be well worth the time imo. Add in a broader playstyle with hub world, boss battles and adventure mode, and I feel this could be a pretty strong game.

F-Zero GX was 15 years ago. It's fair to say that a lot has changed over the years. To suggest a well made F-Zero game couldn't sell today is simply absurd.

Nintendo making a sci-fi racer and actually going out of their way to not use their existing one (F-Zero) but to shoe horn in Star Fox (which they did with Dinosaur Planet) speaks volumes about how much Miyamoto doesn't care for F-Zero and wants to push his baby (Star Fox)

Admittedly even as a fan of F-Zero's game play I can't really name any notable characters from F-Zero except Captain Falcon.

I guess there's Black Shadow, Samurai Goroh, Blood Falcon and uh, the literal James McCloud homage.

Star Fox just has an overall infinitely more memorable cast. I still want an F-Zero game of course, but I wouldn't put it passed them to put in an F-Zero cameo in this game.

I guess you market it as if it's a new IP, but let the known brand and characters help carry it in some circles. You don't sell it as a spin-off, but as a reboot of sorts.

Wouldnt be surprised if this are some Miyamoto and/or tanabe shenanigans.
Both guys have to retire, terrible senile ideas.
Also Retro should read the room with their projects, as much as tropical freeze was great people were fucking burned of 2d platformers on the wiiU. If this is their idea is like, hey lets piss fzero fans and star fox fans all at the same time.
This is taking a joke ending in command and a character joke in fzero too far. Wouldnt be surprised if furry captain falcon is one of the racers.

And im talking as someone who loves star fox and f-zero. I hate this idea with a passion.

Lets hope is not true.

If your racing deign template is linear course design with semi-3D flight movement within, some stages set in space, and a projectile based combat system, I can see why Star Fox would be chosen over F-Zero.

The wait for Retro games is excruciating but whatever they are working on you know its going to be a very polished offering and thats what I like about Retro.

If this game has a ton of non-traditional elements for a racer, I could see them wanting to avoid making it F-Zero. With Star Fox, you could do a lot with vehicle swapping and weapon choices. Like, being able to choose a weapon layout before the race and then having dogfights as you race could be really cool. All the chaos of Mario Kart, but more tactical and less random.

Wonder if this could be primarily developed by someone else by Retro is running assist on it with their B-Team (like how they helped on MK7).

Without seeing how ambitious this is, doesn't seem to gel with the time they had to develop and the hirings we saw. I do think this could end up being a pretty cool game, I'm more upset if the name and logo are real because those are pretty lame.

I don't want to say this because I'm sure this will be a good game that sells well, but Retro is above this. They just are. I was hoping they would create something that pushes the boundaries the way Metroid Prime did on the GameCube. Guess that dream is dead. For now.

DKC is atleast a MAIN title to the series. This is a spinoff to a almost dead series and it's racing. A genre that's very limited.

A genre so limited that on most Nintendo consoles a Racing game is one of the top sellers, if not the nr1 seller.
