Are shiny pokemon easier to find in the ultra wormhole? Because I caught one there last night.

It was a shiny Crustle

Not counting Red Gyrados this is only the 2nd shiny I have caught in my 20+ years playing pokemon lol

Yep you can get shinies relatively common in Ultra Wormholes. I don't remember how many there are but they're specific and they're decided when you landed in the area and not when you get into battle, so you can save in front of them and keep resetting for a better nature/IVs.

Here's a chart breaking down the odds:

1 Ring 2 Ring 3 Ring
500 1% 1% 0%
1000 2% 3% 4%
1500 3% 5% 8%
2000 4% 7% 12%
2500 5% 9% 16%
3000 6% 11% 20%
3500 7% 13% 24%
4000 8% 15% 28%
4500 9% 17% 32%
5000 10% 19% 36%

Might pick up a 2DS XL for some pokemon while I wait for the switch version. I kinda want to give Sun another go.

Man Ralts sucks.

Doing a new playthrough of Alpha Sapphire because I never finished it and my level 17 Ralts just lost to a wild level 13 Voltorb. Just trying to level her up to make her usable.

I got this fucking close, this fucking close to beating Miranda when her fucking Volcarona came out with weakness policy. It had a sliver of health left, but the boost it got destroyed my team.

I done y'all I'm fucking done!

Hey everyone, I have a question regarding pokemon bank. If I want to get my Pokemon from moon to the bank that's probably easy, just download thr bank, pay up 5 bucks and then load them up.

However, if I want to get those pokemon to the coming Switch game, what would I do then? On what account is this based? Does pokebank create an account I can share between consoles or do I have to access the Switch pokebank with the 3DS data? I still know my 3DS' account name but not the password i'm affraid, so that might be a problem.

Unless I've missed on some huge news, no one has any idea.

Whatcha looking for?

I really need to get Pokebank one of these days-- I can't bring myself to bring all my pokemon to one game...

Legendaries, and those who evolve through trading only, I just need to register them on my dex.

Pokebank sounds like a great idea, I need to get on that too.

So on a random whim I got and am playing Pokémon Red. What's up with moves like Poison Sting counting as not very effective against my Gloom? A few other instances of stuff like that too that I forgot to make a note of. Grass was definitely still weak to Poison in gen 1 no?

Midgar, With Love
I just reached Ula'ula Island today in Pokemon Moon and wow. I am loving this island so far. The city and garden on the way in were gorgeous and the observatory has also been fun. The music is great too. Everything about Ula'ula has been a big step up so far.

I love my team in this game! I have an Incineroar, Alolan Raichu, Espeon, Toucannon and Shelgon. If I'd realized Alolan Raichu is Electric/Psychic (so cool) I might have gone for Sylveon instead, but hey, what's done is done. I spend so much time with Pokemon Refresh. I'm also catching more than just a couple of Pokemon for the first time in my two frelling decades of playing these games. That's right, I only ever really caught my main team! But that Poke Pelago gig has finally given me what I consider strong reason to catch more, yeah!

Something is definitely fishy about Aether, btw...

What you're seeing is a bug that doesn't display neutral hits correctly and only selects one of the types to determine what text to print. Unfortunate, but the damage is still what it should be.

I felt a random X urge so I'm going through the Kalos Pokémon League again. I don't really miss the Elite Four from this region, but the building design is really, really good. More like this please.

Lol, I just started a new playthrough of Y a few hours ago. One thing that Kalos did really well is the art direction and the soundtrack, sooo good.

I've been feeling a similar urge recently.

Gen VI felt really special to me, lot of people I knew were getting back into the series for the first time since the originals and it was a cool shared experience.

Anyone need the Gamestop Dialga/Palkia and Yveltal/Xerneas code? I have at least one extra for each.

Are they region bound or world wide usable? Gamestop in my city (in Germany) never has any codes to hand out :(

Anyone get through S/M maining their starter the entire time?

When Blue first came out I took my Blastoise the entire way through the game. He finished around level 90 something and the rest of my team was in the 30s.

Is that doable these days? I own Moon but stopped playing after the second trial. I picked it back up again and I'm going to see if I can carry Litten the entire way through.

Not really possible as exp is scaled which means that you get bad return on exp once you are some levels above the wild pokemons., which means it is quite hard to have a really high lvl pokemon in comparison with the area. You also have the Exp Share which gives 50% of the experience to all pokemon in your team even if they were not involved in the battle (you can toggle this out) to prevent those kind of loopsized teams.

Wow so I had no memory of Red/Blue/Yellow not even allowing you to check what moves did. People rightfully rag on Gamefreak for the glitches, bugs, awful balance, etc. but damn if this isn't one of the most frustrating and boneheaded decisions. Like, imagine playing this game back when it came out and thinking Rage sounded like a good move lmao

Think I remember a SM-era interview with Morimoto about how that was one of his biggest regrets. Was rectified immediately in GS.

On my way to Elite Four now in Red.

Team:

Blastoise
Vileplume (Sleep powder mvp for catching Articuno and Zapdos)
Nidoking
Dodrio
Snorlax
Mr. Mime

I replaced Fearow with Dodrio. I ran with 5 mons until I caught Snorlax and randomly started using him. But now I caught Zapdos and I kind of want to use him for E4 although I feel bad for dropping Dodrio.

As someone who hasn't played since Gen 5, what's the best route to take in getting a complete dex ready before Gen 8 next year if I were to start from scratch? Should I go through X/Y ORAS and USUM or should I go straight to US/UM and just trade?

Does Ultra Sun ever let go of the player's hand at any point? I've made it up to the second island and while I really like the setting and some of the changes they've made it feels like I'm completely on the rails and can't go more than 5 minutes without some sort of cutscene or NPC interaction.

I just ordered a copy of US because of all the Pokémon talk recently giving me an itch to play — and that's the no. 1 complaint I saw from people when looking into the game.

My gut says X/Y with USUM, but ORAS has a lot of the past legendaries you can obtain in post game, if you still have BW or especially B2W2, you can just transfer them up with Pokémon Bank. I still think trading will be inevitable, it might be easier to just go for USUM.

Unfortunately I don't have the games or the DS anymore. I think I might go through all three games then start trading since I do have more than a year to do this after all. Might also make a thread here as a documentary for fun too if I go through with it. Thanks for the response

Gonna vent here but I gotta ask what was Game Freak thinking in making Noibat evolve at level 48, not only do I have to baby a really weak Pokémon but it isn't worth it as Noivern isn't that strong.

Nope, the game holds your hand till you finish the game.
