This show is just terrible. I wasn't as high on season one as most of the other people posting in here, but it's true art compared to the slop they're giving us this year.

The worst parts are the stupid Jon Hamm segments. Thanks for the sixth grade education Noah Hawley could you like actually make something happen on your boring show now? Pretty please. I guess this is what happens when a lot of people tell a middling intellect he's a profound genius.

Yeah, it's starting to lose me as well. I'll stick with it till the end, but good god I'm so bored. It just feels like it's up it's own ass half the time. And we don't need 75 minute episodes, please stick to the one hour. First season was so cool and different, this one feels like CW shows in their 4th/5th seasons with no budget. Everything is in hall ways and one location. The best part of the episodes is when Farouk is on screen. And I don't know if this is deliberate or not, but their use of sound is driving me up a wall. Everything is just a little too soft spoken and quiet and that's just one of my triggers.

There is just absolutely nothing happening in S2. People are just sitting around doing nothing.

I wonder how much that move from Vancouver->LA affected this.

Yeah, pacing really matters - even for long-form television. We've had two episodes already that were self-indulgent character studies that did nothing to advance the plot and told us nothing about characters that we didn't already know. We knew about Syd's dark secret even though we hadn't seen it, and unless the parallel universes somehow become part of the plot, all that episode did was reinforce David and Amy's relationship which we got from season one.

Plus what - David says he's going to race to find the body, and all he does is make out with Future Syd and we kind of resolve the delusion plotline but not really?

Maybe the last few episodes rescue the season, but so far this isn't great. The first few episodes of this season were actually quite good, but it all just ground to a screeching halt.

I enjoyed Davids interaction with the monster. I didn't expect him to startout the confrontation like that "Hi there monster, could you please leave peacefully? We're a little busy and you're distracting us, thanks"

I also enjoyed the horror elements this episode too, it was very prominent in season 1 but we're rarely getting any this season so it's nice when they do pop up.

My enthusiasm for the show is also waning. They could get away with making something so hollow in their first season (especially seeing as how it was so well paced), but this year the novelty has worn off and it's become clear that there really isn't much to the show beyond some cool ideas and trippy visuals.

I really enjoyed the Syd episode but the last couple haven't really been great outside of some amazing visuals and music.

Last season was what - 8 episodes? And we knew who the bad guy was by episode...5 think? And the story really wrapped up by episode 7; the final episode was really an epilogue almost setting up what was going to happen in the next season.

Think about it: at this point last season we had just seen the Bolero and were going nuts.

We re all hoping for another Bolero moment. I don't think we'll get it, but we're hoping.

Hence my shock that we're on Episode 7, this is some Netflix-esque pacing lol

It does seem like we've maybe hit a turning point now that the Jon Hamm lessons are done and the delusion bird got squashed, but we'll see. I'm enjoying this season, but more so than last year I feel like this season would work better if you just binge it rather than watch it week to week. I can see how people would get frustrated by this season and dip out.

You know what the easiest job in Hollywood is?

Starring in a supporting role on this show. You barely even appear and then do almost nothing when you do.

I thought this episode was great. We learned that David basically created the Shadow King image that we saw in season 1 as a coping method. We got a conclusion to the infection. We just need to find out if his body is really gone for good.

We kind of know what happens in the future with future Syd. David is the cause of the "end of the world."

Love this show.

Interesting episode. That future Syd stuff, man. David being the "villian" as it were is cool. I just hope we see the apocalypse somehow. Like what David did. Maybe he snapped and just killed most everyone and then some other force invades. The insanity monsters were freaky. I didn't think they would be actually there in reality lol.

Whew at dat robo booty.

David's plea with the insanity monster was pretty good. Loved the way he popped them out of his friends too. I'll be surprised if that guy is really dead. I'm forgetting his name atm.

Just finished this ep, (right before I go see Deadpool wooohooo!!!) and I don't know exactly what point during the ep I felt this, but I suddenly became disinterested in it. It wasn't even inherently a bad episode. There's just some threshold I hit where I'm thinking to myself, "Do I even care anymore?". I think Season 2 really needs to end on a high note or else I'm pretty much over it. There''s no real intrigue, no real suspense, no more surprises. It's all flash and nicely framed shots without substance anymore. Pretty disappointed right now. Oh well.

Oh man, what a stunning mindfuck of an episode! I have absolutely no fucking idea what's happening anymore, but I love it. I do understand the complaints, mind.

Completely agree. I was genuinely excited for the rest of season 2 after the first two episodes. But man oh man has it been a slog for the last 5.

So the whole narrative built around delusions hatching as an idea and infecting minds being a visual metaphor was thrown out the window and it turns out it was actually a monster this entire time.

Oh... okay.

I'm actually a little confused myself as to how the chattering teeth thing was related to the monk and then if that's related to the insanity creatures crawling into people's ears.

Yeah, I think the problem with this season is that last year you could say things were weird cause things are weird in David's head. This year things are weird because fuck it everything is weird, just go with it.

I like the idea that we, the viewers, were deluded into believing these insanity creatures had anything to do with the main plot.

I appreciated how meta the story was this episode with the commentary on how human beings are pattern seeking creatures who would prefer conspiracy rather than looking at what is directly in front of them. I imagine a lot of viewers were expecting Fukuyama to be evil, just to make sense of the plot.

OK, but... so the insanity monster was completely unrelated to the Shadow King? Where did it come from? I think it first infected Ptonomy while the monk was loose and making (?) people's teeth chatter, didn't it? Hmm, we might have seen it in David's room before that...

For the 1st part of your question: The way I took it is that the monk was a asymptomatic carrier (he has it and can spread it but doesn't show symptoms himself) of the teeth chattering thing. He "caught" it while at the monastery where the Shadow King was buried. There was that scene where David appeared to be at the monastery while all of the monks were slowly going mad, getting the teeth chattering, and some killed themselves. I took that as actually having happened, and that the monk at Division 3 escaped but continued to spread it to others.

No clue on the 2nd part of your question. I'm quite curious myself.

Poor Ptonomy was the most infected by the insanity monster, got my man's mind hooked to computer trees now.

Jean Smart really hasn't been featured too much in this season at all.

When your girl just doesn't understand, but her future self does. Shadow King's peek inside of Future Syd's mind seemingly confirmed that David is the future threat.

I'm fully expecting some kind of twist or fake out near the end of this season. It feels like we're being led down many roads that might not amount to much in the long run. We shall see though.

Yeah the lack of development for the characters was excusable with season 1 but anything outside of David and the farouk is trash at this point. This feels like some of the episodes of where hannibal got far too up its own ass to actually tell a story.

I'm kind of hoping when David and Farrouk have a showdown they just end up punching each other a lot in the least impressive psychic battle ever.

Well it seems like David is using his friends like pawns, quite literally. Looks like he was inspired by the insanity monsters.

Oh shit an actual human discussion between two Legion characters? Color Me surprised.

Hell this might be the best episode of the series just because the two main characters are acting like an actual couple for the first time.

So the... monks literally sewed different parts of reality together to hide Farrouk's body

And Syd just parachutes in.
