Yeah. Brilliant episode from start to finish.
"I am that guy" was great, Amos is the best.
I gotta catch up on this season, saw the first 2, but bought it through amazon so I could support the show, before it was canceled =(
The episode was wonderful. Loved the chase between the hybrid and martian marine. Expanse, much like GoT is one those shows that definitely lose a bit of cohesiveness when viewed live with ad. Which is why I really hope a streaming service, like Amazon, can fund it and keep it running.
The ending had such Cthulhu vibe. Also, for anyone who have played Resistance FoM and 2, the hybrids are so reminiscent of "What happened towards the end of Resistance 2"

Just saw this is the last season...? dmn,I hope they end it well,love this show,sad to see it go.
That was supposed be the end of book 2, with the rest of the season rumored to be book 3.
I'd recommend reading the books anyway and starting from the start. I just started the first one and the show is impressively faithful but the books still have their own flavor and details that don't translate to screen
To piggyback on your question: say the show doesn't get saved, would it be possible to pick up in the books where the show leaves off? Or does the show leave out too many little things and subplots that it would be confusing?
Three observations/opinions:
1) The mutiny/standoff in E5 were among the most suspenseful minutes I ever saw on TV, scratch that: a screen. I loved every second of it. Obviously that kind of developement can't go on forever, but I missed the Hammurabi in E6. I hope they are well. And once more: E5 was a masterpiece of suspense and I hope that I'll never forget it.
2) The protomolecule structure emerging from Venus like a blossom was beautiful. They cut to the credits far too soon.
3) Some users here might find this offensive, but still (I mean no harm or disrespect): "Naomi" is gorgeous and that last scene with "Holden" was one of, if not the most erotic visual captures of a female body I ever saw. Seriously. Nothing lewd, nothing exposed that should lead to any sort of US-american "-Gate", but still... *rrrrrrr*.

If it goes the way the author has hinted, you could potentially pick up at book 4 and start the second trilogy. You will have the big picture stuff but I'd recommend reading the first three. First because yeah, some plot points and especially character details have been modified for TV that might prove confusing or unclear when you switch to the books. Second because they're pretty good and I wish I could read them again for the first time!
That's the fastest I reply I might've ever gotten here or in the old place.
And it (they didn't even show it, which was part of my point) is still only #3 on my list. And I stand by it.

How the fuck can anyone cancel this show? It's so god damn good. The last 2 episodes have been unreal. God damn.
That episode felt like a season finale. I know it was the end to the second book, but goddamn that was great.
Just like season 2 episode 5 before it (ending book 1). I love these "mid" season beats in the story.
The SG is a Ted Faro fucker in that he is more concerned with his legacy than doing the actual right thing. Although the SG could never rise to Ted's level. Ted is too much of an actual fuck.
It's their first look/sneak peek, I think it's the first two minutes of the next ep.
It actually suggests a book plotline may have been condensed/removed as there's a change from the books. (Ran into a super mild book spoiler looking up something about Avasarala on a wiki)
The Secretary General resigns instead of trying and failing to get re-elected.

Wow, what a fucking amazing episode this week. Amos delivering on all fronts with consistently the best lines of the series. Those were two satisfying conclusions to bad guy's arcs this week, though I imagine we haven't seen the last of one of them. I also wonder if that's the end of Prax's time on the show? He is just a botanist after all, can't see him having any reason to stick around now that he got what he was looking for. A shame, though, as he'd become a great addition to the crew.
Another amazing episode in an amazing season. All those scientists deserved to die, just glad it was Amos that got to cap the worst of them. Just when everyone is settling down for some piece we get the protomolecule jellyfish starship in yet another great slow reveal scene.
The protomolecule reminds me so much of Phazon in Metroid Prime - eerie blue hue, corrupts all it touches, unnerving every time you see it at all (especially in MP1)

Word is Netflix has already passed on it. Last I saw anything it was either SyFy picking it up again for another season (unlikely), or Amazon taking over.
