I think "comically oversized " goes to this girl in xenoblade chronicles 2.Really? I mean, sure looking at that image I can see that she has large breasts, but saying they're "comically oversized" is a bit much, don't you think? You see people with breasts that size IRL.
I really dislike Reaper from overwatch:
Pretty simple, but I love Makoto's design.

I suppose the long, flowingheadband neckband (?) doesn't make much practical sense especially for a fighter, but it does add a little bit of "flavor."

Simple, iconic, recognisable by everyone, even those who have never played a game in their lives.

Square-Enix at their very worst. Shit like this gives Japanese devs a bad name. Overly complicated, totally impractical, and makes literally no sense whatsoever.

We get it. We love that people with different tastes than us get a design that caters to their tastes. We're absolutely ok with it. It's still somewhat repulsive, much like those stick models she's inspired to. I'm in the fashion business, I deal with this stuff daily.

The general lack of identity is bad enough, but what really kills it is the bloody 80's cyberpunk visor thing.
(I don't mind the design of the alternate skin from his younger days as a solider.)

I'm going to cheat a little and say that I love how Beck from Red Ash looks and I wish the game was a thing just so I can see more characters from that world.
I also love how Impa from Hyrule Warrior's looks and I wish she got her own game and they release figures of her!

This Sora was so simple. The Goofy shoes, the Mickey one piece, and the Donald jacket . It matches with the whole theme of Kingdom Hearts.

I understand the whole nightmare theme and Sora being older, but this design is just too much.
I actually prefer his KH2 design.

It's a bit sad to talk about hate after posting something Rhythm Heaven-related, but I really can't stand him, nor his games. It seems as if his face had been kneaded or something, outfit is just ridiculous and expression design is nothing but lame. Plus, I also hate his personality.

Love: Basically everyone in Pyre (yes, even the mustachioed dog) , especially the Rite uniforms.
Dislike: Skullface from MGSV. It's amazing how much a single element degrades a character design to me. He looks like the Hamburglar.

Favorite:
- Tall and sexy. I have to say overall my favorite design of Bayo. Short haired Bayo I love just cuz it's shorted haired Bayo but her overall design I wasn't a huge fan of. The ruffles and feathers didn't look the best on her in gameplay. Also, I don't get the hate for this design. It's unique and makes her stand out. Btw, I'm straight and I love her design.
- Up there w/Alex as the best new character SF3. Simple but says a lot. A female practitioner of some form of karate that hits hard. And is certainly up there with the best SF characters.
- KOF's female boxer. Just love, love, love everything about her design. The fact she likes to show skin. And she really sold on how to make spenders look cool. An air of confidence in her art. Slender but skinny. Overall one of my favorite kof characters. And there's a lot of good kof designs.
- Love me some werewolves. I'll admit I just love the character more than the design itself. But how he animates is fan-fucking-tastic. And he's one of few werewolf characters that is bestial but not a total monster. He's a blend of a savage animal and a martial artist and his design reflects that.
Hated:
- He is the one character that made me NOT go back to play SF5. This is the character that made me realize how much Ono doesn't need to be the director of SF anymore. This is the character made me realize Ono might have a muscle fetish. This is the character that made me realize how lazy his moves are. I mean, when you have Hugo and Gief throw you, it has a sense of impact. But with Abigail? Nope, his grabs are just a fucking toss in the air and flicks you. Like what? Oh let's not forget his critical art. That amazing critical art. Which consist of him plunging a character's head into a top of a nonexistent ceiling and proceeds to punch the character like a punching bag. Fuck this character.
- Not so much hate but forgetable. His design is all of over the place. To the headphones, to the jacket, to the rolled up pants leg. And it feels like he supposed to be China's Kyo or K'. But boy did they miss the mark.

I don't hate her look, she is fairly unique in all ways her glasses give an air of sophistication (because Kamiya loves glasses ?) her hair powers are well represented here with beehive witch style hair and her statuesque figure .plus bayo is an awesome, powerful character.
But i can see the other view, weird hairdo, enormous legs, boring fashion style etc.

Wow. Today I've learned that people are oblivious to Bayonetta's intentionally fashion sketch-inspired proportions and don't understand the difference between objectification and a winking, burlesque-style celebration of over-the-top sexuality.
Anyways, it's hard to pick just one design I love, so here's a recent one that I'm really fond of: Min Min from ARMS.
The whole art and audio direction of ARMS is just completely stellar, and there are a few characters I could name here (I also love Mechanica), but Min Min is just the whole package. Instantly recognizable, brilliantly themed, just detailed enough and overall really damned fun.
As for one I absolutely hate...
Yep, you took my answer. When I first saw this, I was floored that it made the cut in a Nintendo-published game, because I expect some modicum of quality curation and scruples from them. I've spoken a lot about how much I despise the embarrassing, regressive fanservice in Xenoblade 2. Honestly, I think Koh Kojima and Genki Yokota are terrible directors. There's some greatness buried within that game, but it's piled under nonsensical storytelling, character designs that would be acceptable with a tweak or two (i.e.: do this without the absurd tits), horrendous pacing and awful harem anime cutscenes. This is all stuff that any director -- given they had a modicum of vision -- at any point could've just said, "yo, this is bad, tweak it" and we'd have a classic RPG. As it is, we have attack of the awkward titty monsters.

Hate is a strong word, let's say I disagree with the design choices made at the time to make a character. I mostly disagree with drooly fanservice. Big boobs because boobs, bikini armor, the "I'll do anything for you master" personality. Mostly anything related to sexualize any character only to get the attention of the male audience. If I want to wank, I wank to porn. There is no need to throw tits at my face when I'm trying to engage on a good story. That only distracts me.
