This looks awesome! Super hype. It looks just like the casual romp I was expecting, and more! It's a great stopgap between 3DS and gen 8 for sure!
I'm guessing September. Release it close to the paid online launch.Soooo, does this mean Smash 5 is probably September, or October then?
That was a technical limitation and those games still had those Pokemon, not even close. You can't even transfer Gen 2 Pokemon to Ruby and Sapphire, they're spin-offs.
Is this a new route, or am I just being stupid and forgetting one? At first I thought it could be the cycling road because of the way the water splits it in the middle, but the visuals don't really match up otherwise (and of course there's no bike either).
People are under the impression that there's no battling wild Pokémon because of the way the trailer is cut. All I officially read was no random battles (because no crap the Pokémon are on screen now) not that you don't battle wild Pokémon.I'm not sure I understand the hate here? "So much for a mainline pokemon game." Huh? This is basically FireRed with better graphics. I don't understand why people are upset. Were you upset when ORAS happened?
Yeah, they're yellow remakes.
Oh sorry, I forgot everyone has to throw effusive praise at this thing.Genwunners somehow became the least annoying part of the fanbase tonight.
Explain to me how the 'large' amounts of Go integration make this look like a mainline pokemon game.
Battling actually being 'mainline' (and arguably mainline traversal mechanics, rather than GPS) is not all you need for a 'mainline' pokemon game.
That being said, it'll depend on if 'Go' catch-style is the only possibility.
In any case, kinda funny seeing the '2019 mainline' being brought out as a preemptive defense by TPC.

You're going to cause heart attacks lolwhether or not this is the permanent direction the series is taking.
From the trailer there's no option for attack when encountering wild pokemon.
It's not , pokemon yellow is just it's skeletonWhat? Y'all do realize this is Pokemon Yellow HD, right? The Pokemon Go stuff isn't forced or necessary. I mean, y'all do know that, right?
All I can say that that is this is the initial reveal. We don't know details about the game other then what the trailer showed. They always reveal more about the games in the months leading to release.Oh being a core(?) Pokemon game there's no chance it will sell less than 10 million. Just, I don't know. The traditional aspects of Pokemon are what keep people coming back, this game - while inventive - just seems like it won't resonate with any audience other than a very young demographic. I think the 2019 title will sell at least 1.5x more than this one. Though usually I am very wrong.
Or, this could be a runaway success and one of the best selling Pokemon titles in years. Who knows.
And because you don't battle themThat's because it was showing off the motion controls capture gimmick
This one of my higher concerns. I like Raichu.
Tell me more about these lazy devsWe could have had the BOTW of Pokemon to kick things off.
But nah here's a lazy spinoff for pokemon go instead.
Could be the route below Lavender TownGame Freak is going back to the chibis with the character models. A bit of a strange choice, if you ask me. I'd figured they did it in X/Y/OR/AS because of technical limitations and then figured a way around those limitations in US/UM, but maybe it was a stylistic choice instead.
I like a few of the new things shown in the trailer, like the Pokémon that follow you are animated, Pokémon appearing in the overworld (even outside of grass), and the game having some kind of limited local multiplayer, but ultimately it seems to be a pretty straight forward remake of Yellow from what we've seen so far, which is really disappointing. I think I might just skip this one.

They didn't. Your characters are just Bug Catcher sized now, you're a shortie.Going back to XY style chibis after Gen 7 went through the trouble of setting up a realistic scale is baffling.
The situation isn't exactly the same. ORAS still had the franchise's traditional gameplay, while Let's Go seemingly ditches the usual wild battles in favor of a Pokemon Go style minigame. ORAS also featured more Pokemon besides the ones originally available in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Plus ORAS was divisive among parts of the fanbase for various reasons (lack of a battle frontier, more handholding than in the original, graphics, etc.). A better comparison would be the release of Colosseum ("what do you mean I can't capture wild Pokemon in this game?"), although it's not a remake, and it's not a "mainline" game.I'm not sure I understand the hate here?
