This looks awesome! Super hype. It looks just like the casual romp I was expecting, and more! It's a great stopgap between 3DS and gen 8 for sure!

I don't like what I've seen so far.

The artstyle seems completely off.
Chibi characters, especially the main characters look really bad.
Forced motion controls.

Hopefully, this is considered a spinoff and these don't carry to the core game next year. Oh well, my switch purchase is going to be delayed once more till next year.

Oh my god I'm so hyped ! I'm usually not interested in Pokémon games and had never play any of them since my childhood but Let's Go looks so good imo. Might be the first Pokémon game I will ever buy it's unreal

Well people have said for years the franchise needed a reboot, or a modernization of sorts. For better or worse, we're getting it.

Now, unless I missed something, this could be considered as a spinoff. Perhaps Gamefreak is hedging their bets and will avoid directly answering whether or not this is the permanent direction the series is taking.

Game Freak is going back to the chibis with the character models. A bit of a strange choice, if you ask me. I'd figured they did it in X/Y/OR/AS because of technical limitations and then figured a way around those limitations in US/UM, but maybe it was a stylistic choice instead.

I like a few of the new things shown in the trailer, like the Pokémon that follow you are animated, Pokémon appearing in the overworld (even outside of grass), and the game having some kind of limited local multiplayer, but ultimately it seems to be a pretty straight forward remake of Yellow from what we've seen so far, which is really disappointing. I think I might just skip this one.

Is this a new route, or am I just being stupid and forgetting one? At first I thought it could be the cycling road because of the way the water splits it in the middle, but the visuals don't really match up otherwise (and of course there's no bike either).

I'm not sure I understand the hate here? "So much for a mainline pokemon game." Huh? This is basically FireRed with better graphics. I don't understand why people are upset. Were you upset when ORAS happened?
People are under the impression that there's no battling wild Pokémon because of the way the trailer is cut. All I officially read was no random battles (because no crap the Pokémon are on screen now) not that you don't battle wild Pokémon.

Many of you "outs" are gonna be right back in, that much is probably certain. Let it settle in first.

Though I get the knee jerk reactions, it makes perfect sense to cast a wider net first to further build the audience, especially after Go, and also makes sense to skew downwards (for age) to get those new kids who've been introduced via Go but maybe haven't tried a core like game. Or you could just not have this and be waiting until 2019. It's an interesting filler title, either way.

Also, #TeamEevee for sure.

I really want more details about the game and about the GO connectivity.

I don't play go because it's not entirely feasible to play for me, but I'm definitely interested.

Both Pikachu and Eevee look cute.

Explain to me how the 'large' amounts of Go integration make this look like a mainline pokemon game.

Battling actually being 'mainline' (and arguably mainline traversal mechanics, rather than GPS) is not all you need for a 'mainline' pokemon game.

That being said, it'll depend on if 'Go' catch-style is the only possibility.

In any case, kinda funny seeing the '2019 mainline' being brought out as a preemptive defense by TPC.

What? Y'all do realize this is Pokemon Yellow HD, right? The Pokemon Go stuff isn't forced or necessary. I mean, y'all do know that, right?

Pretty disappointed with this, but at least there's still hope for next year. Because this seems like a major step back from Sun/Moon other than resolution.

Okay, but I need to know whether or not you can evolve your starter. Because that is what the entire decision of preordering Pikachu vs Eevee depends on, lol.

Since the official Pokemon Twitter calls these "remakes of Yellow", I'm guessing no? But who knows at this point.
They should low-key put Gorochu in this game.

Hell yessss this looks awesome. Cut out the sigh-inducing random encounters and all the extra fat. Nice. Co-op is a pretty freaking sweet addition. Also, super glad that the Pokemon accessory isn't the USB-C accessory that Mochi talked about back in March. It's a Poke Ball Joycon!

And no threat to what the zealots want (until the dust settles and Let's Go has outsold the "mainline" game). Everyone wins!

Well, on the bright side at least Lillie won't be interrupting the action every 10 minutes because Nebbie got out of her damn bag again

Good. Was hoping the first core game would get some real time in the oven. One this soon wouldn't feel right.

Looks like the path to Fushcia

It looks...ok. I don't like the "play with 1 controller" thing, I don't like that you can't battle wild Pokémon anymore, and it's really visually underwhelming. Like why don't the character models have actual mouths and eyes yet?

We could have had the BOTW of Pokemon to kick things off.

But nah here's a lazy spinoff for pokemon go instead.

This seems like an awesome option for younger players who never got to play the original gen 1 games or the remakes on GBA.
Even if that means removing random encounters from the equation.

I was actually getting behind the concept of LGP/E in the past few days despite my reservations in going to Kanto, but this trailer pretty much crashed that.

-Going back to XY style chibis after Gen 7 went through the trouble of setting up a realistic scale is baffling. I'm not one of those idiots who was expecting Pokemon BotW with free blowjobs, but this feels like a step back when there's no excuse to
-Encounters for wild pokemon only involving captures is really stupid. I'm hoping that for some stupid reason GF decided not to show traditional battles against wilds
-This tweet's implication that the rumor about 151 only is true. Fucking terrible idea. Why would I want to play a game with Eevee as the starter but it can only access 3 out of its 8 evolutions?

They actually found a way to make another Kanto remake seem offputting in ways I couldn't imagine.

Oh being a core(?) Pokemon game there's no chance it will sell less than 10 million. Just, I don't know. The traditional aspects of Pokemon are what keep people coming back, this game - while inventive - just seems like it won't resonate with any audience other than a very young demographic. I think the 2019 title will sell at least 1.5x more than this one. Though usually I am very wrong.

Or, this could be a runaway success and one of the best selling Pokemon titles in years. Who knows.
All I can say that that is this is the initial reveal. We don't know details about the game other then what the trailer showed. They always reveal more about the games in the months leading to release.

Glad following Pokemon and riding Pokemon seem to be returning. Nice to see Pokemon in the overworld. Art style and the 'look' of the game are quite the turn off for me, at this point in time. Opinion might change.

Multiple previous placeholder Switch titles on Amazon have reactivated

there are now TWO placeholder Pokemon 3DS titles for $39.99, and an unreleased LABO kit for $59.99

Eh, not feeling this spin off-ish type of game. I'd like the new mainline game next year to have the ball throws as that is kinda cool, but battling wild pokemon and probably missing out on a lot by not playing GO is a turn off.

Could be the route below Lavender Town

The situation isn't exactly the same. ORAS still had the franchise's traditional gameplay, while Let's Go seemingly ditches the usual wild battles in favor of a Pokemon Go style minigame. ORAS also featured more Pokemon besides the ones originally available in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Plus ORAS was divisive among parts of the fanbase for various reasons (lack of a battle frontier, more handholding than in the original, graphics, etc.). A better comparison would be the release of Colosseum ("what do you mean I can't capture wild Pokemon in this game?"), although it's not a remake, and it's not a "mainline" game.
