So I have a One X that I transferred a bunch of games and stuff from my old OG Xbone from via the network transfer thing.

I'm having a ton of issues playing games. Halo 5 crashes 100% when I get to the "Microsoft Studios" video. Uninstalled, trying to redownload that.

Borderlands 2 takes legit over 3 minutes to begin playing the 2K intro video. Horizon 3 took a damn long time, too.

Carcassonne fails to load.

MCC seemed...okay. So did Diablo 3 and Rock Band 4. I downloaded Trackmania Turbo and it seems fine.

One common thing I'm seeing is this screen when I launch games. I see it a loooooooot:

DOaS6O6U8AEH5F-.jpg

Is this common? Do I have a bad Xbox One X? Did the games I transferred from my old one just get corrupted or something? (We'll see if redownloading Halo 5 works...)

This kinda bums me out :(

Had a weird issue on my new TCL P series. I was playing Gears 4 and paused the game and went back home but the brightness was completely off and the picture was overly dark. Like something happened with the HDR settings either with the TV or the One X. The picture settings showed the HDR was off so I have no idea what was going on. Reset both the tv and Xbox and the issue hasn't happened again. Despite this, both are amazing.
Yes I have had the same thing happen multiple times I have fixed it just by changing inputs on the TV and then coming back to the Xbox input and it fixes it but yes either the TV has misrepresented but more likely the Xbox is displaying an incorrect image that is overly dark coming from HDR to SDR

This is because YUV420 kicks in as soon as you have HDR content on your screen. YUV420 is quite a compressed signal. There reason to tick 422 is to have a less compressed signal if your tv supports it.

No tv set at the moment is capable of displaying HDR in RGB

If that is the case, then I reverse my position on this. Granted, the difference is even less perceptible on progressive super dense pixel tech like 4K, but 4:2:2 at least still has full vertical color resolution in tact. And more color res can't hurt.

I had plenty of issues trying to transfer my Halo 5 over via HDD, but no problems with the console itself after just giving up and downloading it all again.

So we can set it to 12 bits even if the TV doesn't support it?

Just now while I was playing Battlefront 2 the fan blazing went even louder, very very loud for like 2 or 3 seconds. I don't know what the fuck is going on here. As soon as I quit the game it went dead silent again.

Look. there is no quite Xbox one X as in dead quite. its dead quite compared to PC, to PS4 Pro yes. but even that it really depends on your room premature, room sound, how close you are to the console. AC on/off etc.

if your console doesnt sound like this video below, then your console is fine
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp-u37dToKs

My console for the most part, is dead quite . as in you cant hear it if the TV sound is on. but if you mute the TV, and get close to the console, you will hear some faint sound coming from it.

Now if you play a heavy game like Gears of War 4 on visual mode ( no, Halo 5 and Forza 7 wont make the X go crazy ), then you will start to hear the fan even louder . almost close to a normal PS4 pro level, but not a vacuum cleaner loud. just... audible a lil from far if your TV is on mute.

There isn't anything really wrong with YUV420. The compression used would be detrimental for PC use b/c it would hinder the legibility of small text that's white on black and similar (high contrast), but for other content not a problem. All of the current 4K UHD Blu-ray disks uses 4:2:0.

Also, I don't get 10 bit output in HDR games (based on what my receiver says) with that setting checked.

Considering what Azurik said, this is likely a compromise due to bandwidth. If you enable 4:2:2 which is more demanding than 4:2:0, then HDMI 2.0 or your reciever probably doesn't accommodate 10+ bit color simultaneously @4K. Better color range Vs better color sampling... Personally, taking everything into consideration, I would choose bit depth especially if your TV is natively a 10 bit panel.

Not worth ticking this unless HDR doesn't work for you. You can't get 10 bit color output with it selected. At least that's what my receiver shows.

Holy fuck. Remember Earthlock: Festival of Magic? One of the GWG games a while back? It ran at below 30 fps on the S. I dont know if it got patch or its the X (or both) but it now runs at 60fps.

I believe it might be a Unity engine game.

Well shit. :( just my luck to get a broken console...

from what i read, it seems all the patched games you have are not working fine. but all not patched games are fine. so i am going to assume something wrong with the file transfer from the original xbox.

factory reset the console, and download a patched game from the scratch. like Halo 5. i am pretty sure your console will be fine.

yup, this is good advice.

try it out and let us know how it goes.

i also had plenty of HDD transfer problems, so just did a factory reset and downloaded everything again instead.

now everything's gravy.

Sounds like a good plan...I'll give that a shot. Not really excited about redownloading all my rock band DLC again, but it is what it is I guess. I'll probably queue it all up on Monday morning and leave the machine on while I'm at work to download everything.

Interesting that you also had transfer problems...huh. Something I think I've discovered is that the strange green screen I posted the picture of only seems to happen when I have my color depth settings at 10 bit or 12 bit. When I have it set at 8 bit it doesn't do that. I have a KS8000 though, so I thought it supported higher color depths...UHD color is enabled on all my ports. :/

Just finished playing a bit of Battlefront 2 on the X and boy, this game can pass for a next gen game. The first outdoor area had my jaw on the floor. Holy crap.

So, Assassin's Creed Origins is crashing every time I take a screenshot. It's a game that pauses when you press the Xbox-button. (no clue if that could be related) Yesterday it was fine, but now it's back to dampening my experience...

Anyone else experiencing this?

LG LCD owner here. After a lot of fiddling and calibrating since the summer I use the following for HDR Gaming:

HDR Game Mode
Backlight 100 (default)
Contrast 100 (default)
Brightness 50 (default)
Colour: 55
Colour Temp W45 (close to Warm2 setting)
Colour Gamut Wide (should be Normal* on the LG TV's for HDR content, however Game mode is undersaturated so Wide here fixes that)
Local Dimming Low
Dynamic Contrast High (I'd never use this setting in the other HDR modes. However in HDR Game this seems to bring the dark end of the curve up to the same level as HDR Standard, without clipping highlights)

Essentially all these settings above give an image very close to HDR Standard, yet with better highlight protection and lower input lag.

Then set the HDR settings within each game to taste.

*Colour Gamut Normal v Wide has caused many users of LG TVs confusion. I believe they've now renamed this setting on newer sets. Essentially when you kick into UHD HDR "normal" is the normal wide colour gamut. And "wide" is wider than that. So the actual correct setting for wide colour gamut in HDR is "normal". Sheesh LG.

Edit: Changed the colour setting above to 55 to reflect what my TV was set to.
Thank loads for this! I'll have a mess around. I'm not sure if warm 45 is too far for me I might draw it back the other way a bit

Edit: ok I've done exactly the same but I prefer w20. Also the colour gamut on mine is normal or extended should I have it on extended then? It does bump the colour more which I like

That has thankfully not happened to me at all on my my X but has happened multiple times on my Xbox One S and Nintendo Switch and I have no idea why! Super frustrating..

Only a hard reset seems to fix it. But i am not going to that everytime. Maybe my wifi adapter is broken in the X?
But it weird thing is. When its connected its all fine as always. Just when i start up my console it usually doesnt see it and results in "Cant connect to xbox live"

Have to say I am impressed with Xbox Live infrastructure now. So much stuff to play with EA and Game Pass. I left my XB1 alone for over a year in favour of PS4 and Switch. Recently picked it back up and I have been pleased with how MS have improved.

Wow. Completely unrelated but I have never encountered another Cyne fan - on the internet or elsewhere.

And, yeah, EA Access is an unbelievable value. Mine just expired, but I'm waiting to see if I can grab another year for ~$20 like last time.

What's it at when it's idle? Mine has a 14 decibel jump from idle to playing a game.

I tested it just now. About 1-5DB when on dashboard and nothing going on. Can for some reason shoot to 12DB but that could also be my Bulldog Yoshi snoring, hahaha.

What I don't like is how this morning from a cold boot, no Instant on it had the fans very noticeable as soon as the dashboard appeared. It took 5 to 10 minutes for this noise to go away. I'm gonna test Battlefront 2 now.

Did Dead Space get One X updated?
No. I really hope it does, given my experience with Gears 3 it would be an incredible upgrade and give me a great excuse to play through it again. I really hope many more 360 (and Xbox) games get the X treatment, but I'd imagine they'll spread out the X enhancements rather than blowing their load. No doubt there's cost involved in testing them thoroughly too.

Also, I just want to reiterate again how amazing BC is. My wife has been so happy getting to play the Zuma games and Doritos Crash Course again. Most of my old XBLA games from the 360 able to download again for free. I've been enjoying the Streets of Rage collection again too. Lovely stuff.

And to be and to play Ninja Gaiden Black looking that incredible at 4K, and all while playing at a locked 60fps. It's just amazing. It's expanded the XBX library massively because the enhanced games feel completely fresh and are a joy to play. They are basically remasters. It's amazing and fills me with joy :)

I genuinely haven't felt this happy with a new console purchase for many years. I'm overwhelmed, it probably helps this is the first time for me jumping in to Xbox this gen, but still. Very happy.

What kind of problems were you having?

when i tried copying my Halo 5 to my One X from my external HDD, the data completed / installed, but then when i tried to run Halo 5 / update it / etc., the data disappeared from my One X, as well as from the HDD - instantaneously.

tried hard resetting and it wasn't on the HDD anymore or the One X's internal...

just gave up and formatted the drive and reset the console and just downloaded the whole fucking thing again.

nothing about the process seemed ordinary / to work / etc.

Mine is just a faint whir which I can only hear right up close to the console, but I do notice the fans revving up for a couple of secs then going quiet again intermittently during taxing games - I'm guessing (hoping) its just the console 'venting' every now and again rather than have the fans on full blast constantly

yes. and if you keep playing playing in a warm room, the fans will kick in to a higher noticeable gear. not a vacuum level of course. but you can hear it.

Has anyone tried Assetto Corsa yet? I was eyeing it at the Store today, but wanted to get some input to see how it runs on the "X". I know it is not patched and most likely wont. Just love racing games. I have not tried my copy of Pcars 2, but I heard the "X" enhancements are not that great and the game does not run all that great. Still the best console version, but I hear there is still nasty screen tearing and not a consistent 60fps.
since nobody else replied...
I know its still scorpio first days and such,
but I think it would be good that as consumers we incentivize the developers so that they DO put up the work.
Assetto is no annual/biannual game type, yet they are releasing DLC. I think ferrari one hit xbox like 2 weeks ago.

Personally I'll let them patch it for scorpio before giving money

Might be the DHCP acting up. You might want to restart your router and/or remove all existing DHCP connections. It sounds to me like the Xbox One X in your place simply doesn't get assigned correctly - which mostly happens because there are no free spots (old devices that have been assigned and not removed).

Hmm. I did do the back up settings from my old console for the X. Maybe something is conflicting there?
How do i remove DHCP connections?

How do you make a worse racing game than the reboot need for speed......with another need for speed

Should have asked for a refund on Xbox before I put in my two hours....game has bear no visual enhancements and is just bad

From my understanding, this is a native 10 bit panel and to get the full HDR experience you need it set to at least 10 bit.

Are you running it through an audio receiver that possibly doesn't support a 10-bit signal?

So after hours with MS support they have no clue what is wrong with either of my XB1Xs. They suggest returning for replacement to Amazon but I've decided to send at least one in for repair. I want to know what the hell is going on and hopefully they put it in a report. If the issue occurs again then I might have some sort of way to fix it myself. What a shitty week.

I haven't been able to find the exact size, just talk of it being 'big' and its patch notes through searching.

FFXV is perfect on the X

I don't even see the frame pacing issues that were present on the Pro.....it hasn't stuttered yet compared to that footage that one guy uploaded showing the two versions next to each other
