Jones said it's unlikely we'll see a return of "The Mole" </3

We'll never forget the effort we gave to shoot it to the top

When does the Community Showcase submission post usually go up? I'm prepping some stuff and don't want it to creep up on me!

The new podcast setup is amazing. I'm so happy that Ian is back in the booth. I always thought he worked much better there during GT Time. This is a huge improvement. I don't even really mind the background anymore (where they film). I would still prefer a studio someday. But this looks damn good.

Aye good for you man, was watching cup of jones when he approved, was worried that it could be anyone and do someone not representative of EZAs beliefs but you seem like you understand the power of representing the brand. Probably am over thinking this though

Best of luck to you, much respect for being good at Street Fighter to

Thanks guys! I'm decent enough to hold my own, but I live near one of the best scenes in the country so I don't see myself winning big anytime soon.
I just want to see the brand grow so if I can have a good time and introduce some new Allies I'll be a happy man.

On 720p60fps.
Im' looking at past COJs and they look way better, maybe it's something here.
Bro you are crazy. Even at 720p, whereas the old ones were in 1080p, this still looks SIGNIFICANTLY better.

The lighting is PERFECT on CoJ this week. Framerate is great, clarity is very good for the resolution.

Podcast was next level. Cup of Jones was next level 2. Proof is in the pictures. Cup of jones looks better than the podcast did imo.

Heads up somebody made a quick and simple easy allies schedule app available for android. It has a widget as well. I thighink it's pretty great.

Whew. I only listen to CoJ so I'm waiting for tomorrow's audio but damn. Definitely seems like a huge upgrade to me.

To be fair i said it could have been on my end and now watching the Youtube archive it does look a lot better than when i was watching live for some reason, don't know if it was internet acting up here or what but bitrate was dropping constantly for me and it didn't look any good.
Good to see it was just me.

It's clearly important to lots of people here so I don't want to rain on the parade, but...what do multiple camera angles really add to the podcast and EZA as a whole? It seems like it requires more work (with an extra person always needing to be on the switcher now), and all of these close-up shots will almost definitely come at the cost of missing reactions from the rest of the panel. Idk, I don't get the appeal.

It keeps things dynamic, makes it feel 'alive' and professional.

Because it's fun to have it & ups the production values. It also helps Ian is really psyched about it & wants to stay and work it while they record the podcast.

Also, just having a switcher (and all the other new equipment) makes outfitting a future studio waaaaay easier since they already have all the equipment at the ready.

Okay that's fair. I was just being silly calling you crazy, btw. It was just a crazy opinion to me, lol. But yeah, good to see it was just something weird going on live.

Yeah, fair enough. Having it all ready to go for the eventual studio is pretty cool.

I understand where you are coming from. For me the angles are not a necessary thing either for the podcast. That said, it reminds me of how it was at GT (I think that's the case for a lot of people here) and it looks a lot more professional to me.
Also the switcher will come in handy for live reactions like with E3 as well.

So yeah, Ian has to stay there to use the switcher, but it looked to me like Ian was the most excited about the switcher out of the Allies.
I always had the feeling at GT as well that he loves doing that kind of thing.

In the end I really enjoyed the latest podcast. I honestly feel like the production value went up by a lot since their new gear has been set up.
This is basically studio equipment which they don't need to buy any more when they move to a studio.

Brandon said on Cup of Jones that Ian is really good at switching between the various cameras to catch the best reactions (Ian did this for a long time on GT time, and he did it well, so I would agree with this). This means we get a more dynamic, professional-looking production and close-ups of the interesting reactions when they happen. Stuff will be missed from time to time but on the whole it's a net positive. More important, we now have Ian in the booth every week, which means 5 people on the podcast every week. Ian'll chime in when he has something interesting to say so it won't just an extra person there just operating the switcher silently.

Also, regarding the lavalier mics, I do hear a sound quality difference but it's not extensive enough to detract from the podcast for me. Being able to see everyone's faces, having a less cluttered desk, and not having to worry if someone moves their face away from the mic are all net positives imo. Hopefully they don't give up on them right away and can experiment more with them (maybe after E3).

I get what you're saying, but I honestly think people are making too much of a big deal about losing reactions. For me, losing any "reactions" is the cost of having the show look more professional and focused, which is what EZA deserves at this point. You don't pull in nearly 48K a month on Patreon and continue to have a single-camera video podcast because fans are afraid of missing Jones looking shocked at something.

If Ian wasn't a great director at the switcher, then I'd get it. But he's good at it. He's got them nimble switcher fingers, ready to switch to the best camera in the moment. He never let me down at GT, so I doubt he will here.

And it's not really more work. Damiani is always back there for group streams and Ian seems to love doing it on the podcast, so it's not an added burden.

Yeah I totally understand it, just a bit of a shame it shook out that way!
From a game design perspective the mole had no win condition nor incentive. I'd maybe have a specific mole win condition for each game (e.g. get less than 2 stars in Overcooked) and require the mole to win a specific number of games. And to continue copying The Resistance/Avalon, give the team an auto-win if the majority can name the mole at the end.

Ian is obviously into making things look and sound as great as possible. If that was my job I would be super excited about getting new tech that makes my job more fun and involved.

New podcast setup is a blast. While I enjoy having the cleaner desk the dip in audio quality is not a trade off I find worth it. Although I will miss Ian as a 100% panelist. Having him able to chime in every week is nice but it's not the same chemistry. Like I don't believe you'd get that berenstain Bears moment in this new format. At least he can make frame trap appearances

Hey, quick question. I was rewatching the fundraiser video the other day, and I was wondering what the song was for the second dance off at the very end.

How is the theater experience? I've considered going in the past but I figured it was lame.
I went with a friend in 2015 (aka the original E3 of dreams) and it was pretty great. Crowd actually cheered when "REMAKE" showed up on screen. But without the megatons it might have been a different experience, to be fair.

I know E3 is coming up, so the timing's not great. But... are we going to get an Overload review? Maybe when it hits consoles?

Pretty fun. Went to the theater experience in 2016 and 2017. People would socialize during the preshow and would show varying levels of excitement on whatever is shown during the show. I know people were pretty excited during the Spider-Man gameplay footage last year and the Miles reveal at the end

I don't want to jinx it but I just realised I haven't seen any Ian-haters in the YT comments for quite some time.
