the move learning is so frustrating. I've gone from having Leer on Marowak, to Focus Energy, and now to Growl... could it hurt to get something that can actually do damage

I'm trying to decide on a starter, since there are fewer electric types in gen 1 than any of the other starter types I'm tempted to go with Pikachu, but the balance and "tricky" moves from Eevee sound tempting as well. Any recommendations?

Edit: Gonna give Bulbasaur some love.

Pick one of the 3 originals, evo's do a pretty big stat boost

Eevee shows up A LOT as you progress with certain recipes so I would not go with her.

I guess I lucked out finding a Machop that knows two moves, rolling kick and bulk up? A move that ups its defence and attack, coupled with a blue badge it can up my entire team.

Someone on Youtube said that the game gives 1 shiny to each player to entice them to on spending more on the game.
I've befriended over 20 Pokemon at this point and haven't seen a shiny, so that's nonsense. They are just more common than they usually are

So was I

But when you get to a point that you need to do 10+ hours of grinding to get past 1 level, the fun is out the window
Part of it is also getting the right types with a good mix of moves.

Some pokemon are more suited for a few levels then others type advantage aside. It's actually more diverse, however farming is needed to keep all your Pokemon into shape until better ones come and become available.

Having lots of trouble with Rapidash in 5-3, it just keeps doing fire spin and burning all my Pokemon, which does way more damage than their actual attacks

You will probbaly have to luck into a good Water Pokemon, or overlevel. I got a Seel recently and beat it at Power Level 3350ish

I'm so into this game. The gameplay loop is fun enough for a free to play game, and the paywall isn't that brutal. (i haven't spent a single cent so far)

Also good catchy soundtrack

One question: my Abra has just evolved into Kadabra (so lvl 16), how can a Pokémon learn a new attack move? shouldn't it have learned Confusion already?

This game is surprisingly very addicting. My Pokémon stew draws have been hit or miss but I got an Onix with Shine Cannon, a Lickitung with Belly Drum and Grow Punch, and a Slowpoke with Zen Headbutt and Tackle and we're steamrolling.

I'll probably throw some money at it to say thanks

You're not supposed to rush this game, considering you have the energy to deal with that already prevents you from playing too much in one session, and yes there is grinding but i don't know so far i'm actually okay with it.

If it takes 13 hours to get through 3 levels, it'll take you 13 hours whether you're playing it in one batch or across 26 30 minute sessions across a month

You are stuck with whatever moves it came with unless you use Training to teach it a new move at the cost of burning another Pokemon. No choice in what move you learn though

Wait what do you mean with levels?

I'm in level 4 (with 5-6 unlocked) and i'm not sure i've played more than 5-6 hours. (i don't have the playtime and the Switch won't tell me until next week)

I think there is more a problem of balance here because some pokémon are pure garbage (and the fact that they follow the rules of the mainline Pokémon games for the evolutions sucks cause for certain ones you'll have to grind up to level 40 or higher with this game which sounds a nightmare), while others feel immediately OP.

The large amount of rng makes the grind pretty different for everyone I think. And the typing can make a big difference. I was struggling to beat the rock world with what I thought was my strongest team and then I just put on slowpoke, politoad, and wartortle (all close range with no attack over like 600) and rolled right through it.

I'm completely stuck on lvl 3... none of my mons seems to endure the hits of Poliwrath.

This is my current team

DeiLvQIV4AADGT3.jpg:large

I know, Scyther is an issue with that low life, but is SO heavy hitter that i just... can't swap it.

EDIT: NVM, just as I posted it, then tried again and killed it. Welp.
Scyther just seems terrible. He should come with two of those universal slots unlocked instead of attack so you can spec into hp. You can get away with low hp on a ranged 'mon like abrakadabra, but not on the Frontline. I've been trying to use him too and he just dies so quickly. His attack is good but not if he's always dead. You're better off using a close range Pokemon that can survive. In the end their damage done will be higher.

Now that I unlocked the final four worlds, the game actually got harder. I guess this is the paywall. Still an excellent free experience. Pity for anyone trying to do coverage or guides for this game because those final few levels will be tough to grind out quickly. I expect this last stretch of the game to give me at least a solid month of extra playtime.

What is the ERA opinion og Gold/Silver/Bronze stones. Is it worth keeping a lower health/attack stone with good added stats even if the base health/attack is a much lower?

i am almost done with world 8 and no level took even close to an hour. Get materials, grab high level Pokémon of the needed type, win. World 7 and 8 were the first where I needed 3 of the same type and the other 2 might be similar, but I actually wish they were harder so I wouldn' finish it too soon...

I'm starting to hit a wall now with the boss of the 3rd world. I don't have any electricity types so I'm stuck just slowly raising my power and health.

Depends how much lower, but yes some pokemon really benefit from certain abilities like your tank having better speed to get in front of your ranged attacker.

Only played a little bit so far, but I'm casually having fun just watching it auto play. Art style is better than the pics made it look.

It just depends on what the stats are. But you'll also need to buy at least one more page for stones so if you haven't done that yet you might as well. I've got 3 pages and I think that'll be all I need for the foreseeable future.

That requires having the right Pokemon with a high enough level and having it know the right move(s). It's not quite as simple as you're making it sound.

How common are shiny Pokémon in this game? The other day both a shiny Growlithe and a shiny Sandshrew came to my camp at the same time, and it was only the second batch of Pokémon invited to my camp! I wasn't sure if maybe the game was supposed to automatically give you some shiny Pokémon to let you know they exist, or if I just got insanely lucky, lol.

I got one that heals for 30% after each wave, so I'm definitely hanging on to that for a while

If you have a ranged pokemon with decent attack, you can still pull it off. make sure to hit the scatter button when you see the AOE marker or the charge animation

Getting pretty into this today. Def like the auto feature while i'm otherwise busy. Got creative with my stews instead of just focusing on the type the zone wants, but ultimately i don't mind having to play more to facilitate. Good times ahead :)

The right pokemon can be gotten with with the right recipe and if you use the highest level pot, the level will be high enough as well. I never had to change moves so far either, because a high enough level leads to a high auto attack as well which was enough until world 9 at least. The only issue I guess could be using the ingredients for wrong pokemon recipes.

There is some strategy with manually controlling the combat too, which is important as dodging attacks can save a ton of HP.

I'm a little confused reading a few comments here. This is a god damn F2P game, they are meant that you spent more time with them than grinding through the whole current version in 1 day:P But, everyone should do as he or she likes. While I must say I like Quest for what it is, I value my time too much to spend intensive time with it. I regret a little I spent about a hundred hours with Shuffle on 2 devices.

I really bought one of these expansion packs because I was curious for the first time in my life in such kinda game and had a fair share of gold points to spend. It is the pack with the Lapras and together with Onix, it's currently almost impossible to beat them. For a solid start, these extra packs are kinda nice, but I doub they will help you in any way later in the game. At least the stuff you get is permanent, with the exception of the 100 tickets which you will receive only a single time.

Thanks for linking the guide with the Dish List. Appreciated.

Ok, I stand corrected about the game becoming a slog at the last four regions.

My advice is this: use the 15 ingredient cooking pot and choose a rock or ground recipe.

I did so and got a level 70 Rhyhorn and level 59 Sandshrew. Combined with my level 31 Dugtrio, I was able to clear out world 8. Since the drops from world 8 were good, I then went back to world 7 where Rhyhorn was bonus type. I am currently cooking a 15-ingredient psychic dish for world 9.

I kept seeing that loading screen tip that said "there are 17 or more types of Pokemon" and I kept wondering why'd they phrase it like that but it just hit me that this game isn't going to have any Dark types so the entire thing is just a weird quirk for this game.

Am I crazy or AFAIK there is no way to check how many of each cooking ingredient I have on hand unless I am actually in the process of filling the pot?

I haven't had much luck with aquiring an OP level sweeper, the best I can do is try to cheese it with a Kangaskhan with Rest. No shinies either, but I at least I got a Dratini.

My Charmeleon is glass cannon status. Scratch can deal mean damage, while Fire Spin is capable of of good damage if done in the right spot. But he always dies while Onix and Pidgey stay strong. Guess it's because he's the only close combat.

Game is super simple and pretty mindless but I am finding myself playing quick 2 minute bursts while I sit at my computer. I dig the music quite a bit.

My Abra, Charmander Ponyta team just barely beat the polywrath in 3-5. That pair of buff bots plus some damage definitely went a long way.
