Friend saw let's go trailer got excited for pokemon and asked me questions about it.

At the end of the conversation he no longer wants it and now owns alpha saphire and ultra sun and is watching vgc battles as we speak glued to the screen lol

GameFreak wins lol

"Person not really into Pokemon games asks hardcore player about new, more casual option game. Hardcore players slams the game and tells them it's dumbed down crap and to go play a more traditional game while watching high level competitive play. That person listens to friend."

TO CLEAR UP THE MISINFORMATION RE. POKEMON GO TRANSFER

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2018/06/...rmed-for-nintendo-switch-releases-november-16

Any Pokemon that hails from the Kanto region (and their Alolan forms) will be transferable to Pokemon Let's Go via wireless Bluetooth. This feature unlocks about "midway" through Pokemon Let's Go.

Once a Pokemon from Pokemon Go is transferred to Pokemon Let's Go, it will appear in the Pokemon Go Ranch, where it must be caught again. This mechanic will likely work somewhat like the Pokemon Transfer Lab used to transfer Pokemon between generation four and generation five, in that you will have unlimited tries to recapture a transferred Pokemon, but this is yet to be officially confirmed. If a Pokemon has been sent to Pokemon Let's Go, it will be unable to return to Pokemon Go.

From IGN's info, which is based on actual conversations their actual journalists have had with the actual game developers. If you don't want to believe it then fine. The moon landing was probably fake too.

Do you think Legendaries and shinies will be tradeable from Go to Lets Go?

Also curious how they work out IVs
They will be. We saw a Moltres being transferred in the trailer and we also saw a Zapdos in the Go park too. Furthermore, in that same IGN info that I posted a couple of pages up, Masuda confirms that shinies transferred from GO WILL be shiny in Let's Go.

I expect the legendaries in Let's Go will have proper battles to capture them as well. In the trailer, it looked VERY much like Mewtwo was getting ready for a fight with you, and you need to battle the legendaries in GO to obtain them too so I guess you will need to here as well. Gonna bag me Articuno ASAP that dude carried me through the elite 4.

Thinking on it a bit, one way transfer between go and let's go sounds dreadful.

You are potentially losing your best pokemon forever in a game that is still current if you want to play with them. Which makes it far less of a companion game

It worked in the main games because each game going forward was the new standard for battles and older games became resorces for specific tms, moves for breeding. move tutors and pokemon only in said games
That makes it more likely that the internal data structures for the Pokemon will be like they've been up til now in the Let's Go games.
yup

He got hyped up at megas, z moves, and the egg move stuff since its similar logic to demon moveset building in persona

I'd just like to apologize for my immature behavior in this thread.

I went way to far in my displeasure and I'm disappointed in myself.

I still dislike it being Gen 1 only but people have a fair point about the 2019 game.

I'm sorry for dredging this up again but I wanted this off my chest. I'm gonna try and stay out of these threads for now.

What would have people thought of a game like I choose you. In a reinvisioned kanto, with some new characters, some old ones. Pokemon from every gen, but still more kanto focused, and also johto post game?
No to Pokemon of all Gens. The bare minimum was Johto and its Pokemon, the cross evos from Gen 4, and MAYBE a smattering of some other Pokemon. The bare minimum. But they can't even do that. I get why FRLG did what it did being the first remake and all, but here its just fucking stupid. And they are somehow going to manage to make this post Gen 7 in Universe, I just know it. We are going to get Adult Red and Green alongside lillie in these games, and they somehow wil not have Johto in them. Despite Johto in-universe being around for ages.

Nah Lillie won't be seen in this game probably, we sure as hell are not un the same universe of the main serie.

This is what I thought this game was going to be in the first place. It would have been pretty cool. But nope, they went with the most boring premise possible.

Pokemon Go Plus is about 34 Euro on Amazon ... so yeah, don't expect the Pokeball to be cheap if that also doubles down as a Switch controller. At most, i can see it going down to about 50 Euro near relase ... if drops at all.
Nah, a big ball with one button and a joystick doesn't double down as a switch controller

Well, there seems to be a misunderstanding, when i say doubles down as a Switch controller, i meant as a controller for the Let's Go game. Since this thing can replace the singe Joy-Con in that one handed control scheme ... it's basically also Joy-Con like. And with that, no chance that this is on the cheaper side.

I haven't looked in this thread since the announcement. What's the general vibe surrounding the game now: do people like it or not?

Pretty even split it looks like.

I don't think there will be any sort of consensus for this game. It changes way to much for everyone to settle on any sort of conclusion.

I've mellowed on it some but I still don't think I'm going to get it.

Sure, I know that the game has the basic 4-move turn-based system of all the core Pokémon RPGs. We don't know anything about it outside of that, or how Pokémon growth might have been reworked in a game without battles against wild Pokémon.

I think the beauty of this tagline is that it works for pretty much every demographic — players who played gen 1, players who've only played Pokémon Go, and players who've never played Pokémon at all.

The first two are a given. The second two aren't contradictory in the slightest. This is a game that's designed to appeal to nostalgic adults who played gen 1, and also an at-home companion to people who've only played Pokémon Go, which doesn't have much to do for players when they're at home.

Also, cross-demographic appeal is a good thing

But you said that they were incompatible which was your reasoning for excusing gamefreak from excluding all the non-genwun Pokémon?

Also your last line sounds like a Boogie quote

It's very divisive, just like Emily said it would before the reveal. I just don't think people had imagined it to be THIS divisive due to some of the design decisions made by Game Freak.

Personally, I'm intrigued but not excited. Its just Gen 1 with Pokerides, Go Catching, and HD graphics. On the other hand, I can see the story being way better, a couple of surprises in terms of game content, and the soundtrack is bound to be stellar. This game is actually very close to something I have been suggesting for years now, so I can't fault it or claim to not have bias when praising it. That is, I personally feel that a single player non online focused Pokemon Adventure would be perfect to complement the Core Branch, but not like this, ie beingntotally gimped and just being a straight remake/reimagining. Like, Pokemon without its online package and only single player needs to be a pretty solid package, but this is nowhere near that.

How is there still conflicting info about all the online stuff? Nintendo and TPC seem to be terrible at conveying info sometimes.

Sony is a Japanese company and they are great at conveying info to the point you forget they're even Japanese

You said this as if you had evidence, now we have evidence to the contrary:

https://www.famitsu.com/news/201806/01158241.html
We did have evidence. The official website said it wouldn't use the inline service.

Nintendo has recently announced that the company will begin its online gaming service this September. Will Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! use this service?

Mr. Ishihara: We don't have any plans to use this online service right now.

If you are specifically talking about the PlayStation department of Sony, then sure they can convey info to the point easily, that's because it's operated in English, in California.

People that do competitive battling are pissed that we're locked into the 3DS for another year and a half instead of throwing us a bone, no matter how minimal it was. Everybody else is a mixed bag, ranging from people happy that Game Freak threw 20 years worth of legacy out of the window to people that can't wrap their heads around it.

Edit: I think Pokémon Bank subscribers aren't happy either since they were told they could use it to move their collection of Pokémon to new mainline releases, yet this is treated as a mainline release by Game Freak but Bank support is not there, nor expected in the future due to the limitations of the game.

So it's a clarification of prior reporting. But everyone was acting like it was gospel and I was way off base assuming Ninty wouldn't launch their online service w/o Pokémon.
I only corrected you with the information we had at the time, if you thought my post was like mean or something, sorry.

Tbh, there was another dude who was actually being smarmy to you but I dont know why you didnt call him out.
