With the amount of build variety and difficulty options this couldn't be further from the truth.
It's no multiplayer game obviously but you're underselling the build and play style variety.
Also, does this count videos that tell you where to find items and how to beat bosses and stuff? Those are gonna be popular in a game like this.
Edit: from reading the article I'm going to assume it includes literally any video about the game.
When a game has this much acclaim people will go out of their way to make content about it to get hits so it's not that surprising that a single player game is doing big business on YouTube.

Yeah I was definitely. Cooldown/Rune Monster by the end. Good times, but I hate the stupid trophy for crows. Might miss out on the plat because of it. No difficulty trophy but crow collecting? Really corybarlog

I think it is a joke with how MS used to put out PR all the time with how many bullets fired, etc., and not anything about sales volume.
That one was not really that bad, compared to most games. There is always one in the Valkyrie arenas, and they are pretty early in most of the paths. I got most of them all pretty early before beating and Platting the game. Just look up quick video guides, you will get it fairly quickly, especially with all the gates unlocked to fast travel.
100%'ed the game the other day with I slain the Valkyrie Queen. First game of this nature I think I have ever did 100% on everything. I am running a cooldown/rune monster as well. I think my cooldown is currently 170, and I can practically stay spamming them switching between the two weapons.
Wait they mean actually gameplay and not just marketing material (trailers, commercials, gameplay demos, etc)? I'm surprised any of the Call of Duty games or Fortnite have not set that record. Good for Sony, God of War is an excellent game and I'm glad to see credit going where it is deserved. Hopefully the industry takes note of what a strong single player experience with great combat and characters can still achieve.
I doubt its build variety and more or less peoples reactions to story moments.
Because this game has a lot of story moments.
Well that guy who beat the Queen on Give me God of War with no damage was pretty impressive.
I'd love a surprise announce for one at E3. I'd easily hop back in the game for this.

God of War is a beast. I know I've watched some of the Valkyrie fights along with the optional content in the 2 optional realms as I have no intention of doing those.
No chance, 2 years is not enough time for a mainline entry. Also GOW as PS5 exclusive will be push consoles like crazy.

I think it has to do with wanting to see peoples reaction to stuff? I don't watch full let's plays, but I do go through a bunch of them to re-experience moments I thought were particularly rad.
Like, I've watched at least two dozen different people react to the Lawrence mid-fight cutscene in Bloodborne, etc.

But with the success it is having, I do hope that convinces them to do it.
I prefer watching Soulsborne games but fair play, good to see that single player content can get the clicks on Youtube and Twitch, can only encourage developers to make more of these sorts of games.
It's has to happen, would love to replay the game on "Give me GoW" with NG+

Kratos has always been a gamey character but the new gow game has been turning him into Sonys biggest icon
