Sweet lord how are some of you shook by this album ? Like it's fine, the production is great and elevated as usual by great samples, the lyrics are meh... I'm not sure how there is a lot to digest here? It's 23 min, it's really not that deep. People also already forgotten how MAGAnye he went but thats ubderstandable , hip hop fans excuse pretty much everything for a good beat . I heard on a drive in a friends car, he's not getting my stream

2nd listen. Decent album I guess? All Mine and Wouldn't Leave are bad. Rest of the album ranges from ok to pretty good. But with such a short tracklist it's... Underwhelming overall I guess. A good shower album maybe. Just kind of turn on and ride out to it without engaging too much.

Calm down lol. I was using the same rhetoric that was used in the newly edited OT where FZZ basically says just this. I'm a fan of the album guys I'm not even trolling. Chill!

The album is definitely interesting. The last tracks leaves more to be desired.

Also what's up with this OT? It's too over the top with that message/font size.

Also don't get the Ghost Town hype. No thanks. It's like a weak facsimile of an actual good song of this type

Album is alright. Favourite track is Yikes. Overall it likely won't get many replays from me.

And those ranking Graduation so low, you're nuts. That album is amazing and essentially solidified him as a trendsetter. I'm convinced those that prefer Yeezus, TLOP over the others are in their early 20s or younger smh.

Critics loved it, public was more divided. I remember the Yeezus release and social media collectively shitting on it. That's when I quit taking publications like Pitchfork seriously when they called that trash a classic.

But hey, do you.
These KTT posters come out of hiding when we talk about trashus. Sorry y'all had to get exposed like this. Y'all ain't that bad nowadays compared to 6 years ago tho so it's all good.

This album makes me more interested in hearing the rest of the LPs he's producing. I find the beats and music much more interesting on Daytona than Ye. This feels like a case in which Kanye has bitten off more than he can chew. I didn't think Ye was bad on first listen, but it failed to really get my full attention. We'll see how I feel in a few weeks.

Ive gone through it 5 times now. I dig it.

You can tell the lyrics are mostly Ye's and not ghostwritten. The album is bi-polar, and i think he did that intentionally. It feels like its a bunch of outros that could go on his other albums.

Like all Ye music, the production is top notch.

Most of the lyrics seem to be written in the past month, despite Ye claiming he's been working on it since last year. I wish he'd release the other songs he made

All of you concerned about bangers can stick to listening to Famous and shit acting like kanye was ever good at spitting legit bars instead of making "moody" music. His best albums are the moodiest. 808s fantasy and yeezus.

It was great listening to it on stream. Listening to it on Spotify about four times already it just gets better and better.

Uhhh... he has had bangers.

"Paranoid" from 808.

"See you in my nightmares"

"Love lockdown

"Flashing Lights"

There's more.

Good beats you can dance to and he still does his word game so we all win.

None of that on this new album.

TBH, Kanye could just finish up some leaked tracks, add in one or two more that haven't leaked, and release the album of the year:
Mama's Boyfriends
The Mind is Powerful
Not Enough Time
Never See Me Again
Southside Serenade
Black Skinhead (ft. Miley Cyrus)

Dr. Dre's Dr.

So are you going to list me all his good songs and completely miss my point? Are you denying yikes and all mine being bangers? Because those songs bump . We're talking about albums as a whole. People want kanye to spit bars but none of the songs you listen are even that lol

Track by track after one listen:

  1. I Thought About Killing You - Interesting and fractured. Felt like it's an effort to recapture the Ultralight Beam brilliance in structure and progression. Not sure it works well and I felt a lack of momentum. Insular Kanye is feast or famine and it's trending famine here.
  2. Yikes - This isn't inspiring me. The content is all over the place and it feels hobbled 'raw' without the power or passion we're used to. Kanye's verses are weak.
  3. All Mine - I like the floaty feel. It doesn't take another step beyond it's initial atmosphere. The attempt has a nice idea in production but it doesn't land in momentum. Too short to build off the high-pitched voice bars too. Content is weak again.
  4. Wouldn't Leave -I quite like the intro and production into the actual track. Really nice progression. This is a highlight so far but it's not a single nor is it an all-timer or close to it. At least the honesty connects.
  5. No Mistakes -This is filler, interesting filler but it doesn't take us anywhere. It's not earned.
  6. Ghost Town - Nice down-cut on the beat (interesting idea). It's not effective as it believes it is. It carries a self-importance surrounded by a lot of good ideas that don't really go anywhere together. A lack of momentum again.
  7. Violent Crimes - More tuneful and restrained. It's not surprising but it captures more consistency in mood and progression. It's good and it's Kanye understated and playing to his strengths.

First listen, this is well-produced, below-average record.

My contribution to the discussion: Yeezus is great and Ye is mediocre.

Nice opinion. Nice avatar :)
