If we're talking about shit fights then can I nominate this one

Video where I eventually 'beat' it
Part I: https://youtu.be/6jZjmQQwJ-s
Part II: https://youtu.be/YAmC9phsZPM

I'm not excusing the camera here because it is BS, but if you go to the right there is a larger area where the camera isn't as bad - the part with the green titanite shard. It's odd for them to put loot in a boss room, so I assume it's there as some kind of visual signifier that that area is a better place to fight.

In the nearly 700 hours and over a dozen playthroughs I've never actually fought the demon there. Blew my mind when I saw someone do it in a stream recently. I always just fight it at the area where you enter through the fog gate.

Invaded someone in Sen's with the last of my cracked orbs. It was a red phantom - fair enough I thought, we'll do a fair fight. They know what's up. Killed their phantom and then we both died at the same time. I got indicted? Doesn't seem like a darkwraith kinda thing to do.

When you'be completed the game once, replaying it makes it easy (not talking about ng+). It's almost too boring. I should just drop this and try bloodborne instead.

I had been using the Estoc till Blighttown (doing a Pyro/DEX build) but recently swapped to the Iaito I found in Blighttown, L O V E it. I now feel like a true Pyro samurai

Also, should I upgrade any of my weapons to Divine?

Other than a few places I have to say this game is much easier than I remember. Played pyro first go around and had more issues but doing straight melee it was a breeze. I also hated the last 4 areas now I mainly just hate new Londo. I'd probably rank the games in release order now. I liked 3 but for some reason it's my least favorite

Being in the Way of White covenant lessens the chance of invasions, although they still happen. Other than that solution is just being hollow. Invasions happens a lot now with the game being new.

I don't think I've spent more than 90 seconds in human Form without being invaded.

Also whenever I get summoned in Anor Londo the host is usually being chased around by at least one red phantom. It's hilarious.

Wow! Frankly, I'm surprised they fixed the oped void outside the Bed of Chaos! Now it kind of naturally fades to black down past the ledges rather than there being nothing and just a view of the bottom of the skybox. NIce.
I think there should be a list compiled of all the little changes made in the Remaster, stuff like the Quelaag bell ringing, the new Ring of Light, and this.

Speaking of rings of light, has ANYONE seen any miracle synergy rings in Remastered?? I have seen none, maybe they got eaten by the same update that seems to have deleted user-place messages, though. I want to know if they also look different (though I guess they don't need to).

I've seen at least one. X1X

TIL that if you kill
Petrus before Rhea, Vince and Nico show up, they'll all attack you when they get to Firelink
. 7 years with this game and for some reason I never even tried that.

Got through Great Hollow and Ash Lake last night. It was fun navigating the trees trying to get to items, but the end felt rather anti-climactic. I was cursed once and turned to a statue, but other than that, my paper outfit provided some great protection in that area. Tonight I'm headed back to Dark Root to take on Sif. I decided to do Anor Londo first, so I actually should be leveled pretty good for this fight....I hope, lol.

Divine weapons scale with Faith, so you probably shouldn't if you are sticking with Dex.

But it's Bed of Chaos

If we're talking about shit fights then can I nominate this one
Haha how about those A-team hitboxes in the first part, huh? xD

It really helps if you run to the dry patch of land to the right of the entrance, though. You take some lava damage but you can heal it, and then you wait for the Centipede to join you there and you have a lot more room to maneuver and almost no chance of being accidentally shoved into the lava.

I'm now trying to kill the Ceaseless Discharge. Is it even possible at sl 36? It's almost impossible to dodge the fireballs and I deal like 1% damage to him. This is the fist boss in the soulsborne series where I think it's legit impossible to kill an enemy.
Sorry but that's almost adorable :) There's no such thing in a Souls game!

And Ceaseless is very easy even without the cheesing method. Your damage is low now, so it feels impossible, but once you come back and fight him with an upgraded weapon, he's a piece of cake. You can stay in front of him (where he initially starts) and he won't throw fireballs, he'll just slam an arm/tentacle down, it's very easy to dodge it, and you get a few seconds to hit it with 2-3 hits. With a strong weapon he goes down insanely fast with this method.

Your character level doesn't make much difference really, your weapon level will. Blightown is a good way to go, but get your weapon to +10 as soon as you can.

You can farm for large shards at the bottom of blightown from slug creatures.

To add a bit more, character level mainly helps with :-

1. More health. Think of the health bar as your mistake bar, the longer it is the more mistakes you can make.

2. More endurance. This let's you run further, swing your weapon more and also equip heavier gear whilst still keeping a decent roll (either mid or fast roll... Slow roll is useless).

3. "damage" stats (str, dex etc). Getting certain levels will unlock your ability to use certain weapons, but also once your stats get higher, the scaling they apply to weapon damage becomes more important. This is more of a later game benefit.

Ultimately go where you fancy and explore, but I would say, always be trying to upgrade your weapon.

AND don't read too many spoilers, struggle through the game first and then find out about all the stuff you missed afterwards. :)
Farming those slugs in the Blighttown without Rusty Ring can be really a chore. Too bad i went there before going back to Undead Asylum and getting that trinket. Well that ring also comes in handg in Sen's Fortress at the Tar Pit?

I just played my first couple of hours of a Souls game today (I've played a bit of Nioh, but never a genuine Souls), and I like it so far. I was always perfectly willing to believe that this was the masterpiece everyone said it was, but I just never thought it'd be my kind of thing; I'm not especially patient, and the notorious difficulty and semi-perma-death stuff always turned me off. But DS Remastered was cheap, 60 FPS, and, well, here we are.

So I got through some early sections, just killed the pig with the unarmoured butthole and found an elevator back down to Firelink Shrine, and I've been enjoying it. I don't really know what I'm doing with regards to spending my souls and leveling up, but I think I'll try and just take it as it comes without trying to look up too much stuff on the internet. At least until I get stuck on something :P

Got the Lord Vessel yesterday. Does it matter where you go from there? Or are you free to pick?

For the moment I decided to go to the Demon Ruins first since I was already in Blighttown anyway. Just killed Ceaseless Discharge. I prepared myself for an epic boss fight, but he turned out to be one of the more anti-climactic ceaseless discharges I have witnessed. Sorry.

The gold-hemmed robes are cool, though. The hood in particular is a much better fit for my thief than the standard equipment. (Seriously, why don't female characters get a hood? Such a weird decision especially because everything else looks unisex.)

Good lord magic does a lot of damage. Never did a magic build in dark souls and thought it sounded like fun. I need to reverse my hollowing so I can PVP

I would definitely do Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith before Catacombs/Tomb of the Giants, since you can get an item in the former to help in the latter. Plus you get a bullshit boss out of the way. Though you may want to kill the Catacombs boss right now, to get the Rite of Kindling. There's a good farming spot for titanite chunks in New Londo if you wanted to upgrade stuff.

Now that you have the lordvessel, you are open to tackle any of the other areas any way you want.

Some see the Catacombs/Tombs as a harder area cause of visibility and an item in Lost Izalith will help in that area, but it can still be done (I did it yesterday before Izalith). If you haven't def agree with famicom and go get the rite of kindling in Catacombs early. You can also investigate the Great Hollow easier and the dlc could be accessed now as well. New Londo Ruins is also pretty easy early on, so you can go there and do the whole area or at least lower the water.

That item, you mean that helmet that produces light? I have already advanced a good bit into the Demon Ruins, so I might as well go there first then.

Okay, thanks! I think I'll do the Catacombs/Tomb of Giants after I'm done with Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith. I've been interested in that area from the start. Rhea should still hang out there somewhere as well. Haven't seen her in a while now.

And I already have a Divine Claymore +5 to take out the skeletons with, so I might as well put it to good use.

OH
Soul, or Crystal Soul, Spear the very tip of his tail, without lock on.
If you stand near the crystal when the fight starts, he'll do his breath attack to hit you, shatter that, and be stunned for a while. As soon as he starts charging up the breath attack, run to the left (around his right), and attack the tail.
That worked like a charm. Thx!!

"I'm not sure guys. I don't think the respawning Capra Demons make Demon Ruins quite shitty enough. Oh I know, let's put a respawning Taurus Demon between the bonfire and the fog wall, give him an aggro range so big he will come after you all the way from Yharnam, and give him huge weapon swings that are difficult to roll through and eat away +50% of anyone's HP."

Edit: fuck this, man. I'm getting the Hidden Body sorcery.

Welcome! I always encourage people to play Souls blind. Crafting your own journey is half the fun! However, I also always give just one piece of advice. Don't level Resistance. It's a trap stat in every sense.

It is a lazily designed area with shitty encounters but you can run/roll through that guy quite easily if you are retrying the boss. His moves are incredibly slow and telegraphed and he takes forever to recover. Not sure why you are finding this difficult. You have been through shittier sections of the game so far.

So the only way to get the Platinum is to kill Sif 3 times (NG, NG+, NG++) ? Is there any way to get around this?

Don't think so. You need 3 souls to make each of his boss weapons. And you need to get to the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo in NG+2 in order to make boss weapons. But you'll get there in no time really.

I'm honestly not sure myself. The gang of eight Taurus Demons in the lava lake was simple enough, one careless death aside. Maybe it's because I get tensed up since I want to preserve estus for the boss. I always fight better when don't think about moves and dodge windows, and act on instict.

That said, I think Dark Soul's tendency to put a bunch of enemies between a bonfire and a boss fight is one of its poorer design decisions. It's a waste of time at best and a source of frustration at worst.

Edit2: Alright! The Centipede Demon is the first boss in Dark Souls I killed on my first try, not counting the Asylum Demon.

Unless you are having trouble with skeletons, not recommend.

I've been trying both. Having better luck w/ the former, which I hate because it's so lazy. I take less damage with the latter, but the time I'm spending dodging means I get overwhelmed by the mob.

It took me many tries to take out Smough first in NG+, but that was more or less fair and awesome (although still rage-inducing at times). Here, it feels more like a race, and I swear it seems like my i-frames are nonexistent.

Anyway, I'll get it eventually. Just felt like venting to get out some of my frustrations! :)

You can do it mate, don't give up!

Little advice: It sounds like your skill level is perfectly fine, the problem seems to be your damage output, ideally you should kill one of the kings shortly after or before the next one pops up, it's a fight about trying not to get overwhelmed, in other words you are not supposed to beat the boss while all three or four of them is on the screen, you can do it of course, but it's not designed that way and definitely not the easiest approach. The key to this boss fight is to be as aggressive as you can without being reckless.

Let us know if you need any advice on dealing damage, oh boy do we have some suggestions, good luck.

The resolution is too weird to realistically use for anything, but I felt like showing this off:

I'm 25 hours into my first character, and I just hit the DLC. I'm loving pretty much everything about this so far. It's exactly what I was hoping for.
