Please no bat crazy sword beam arts, insane hyper jumping, sonic speed dashing, and throwing magic BS combat system.
Just a slow, steady and smooth sword play yo.

I still don't understand why Ubisoft hasn't made an AC game set in feudal Japan yet. It seems like an absolute no-brainer. I've heard speculation that they wouldn't feel comfortable tackling a non-western setting but they just made a game set in Egypt so I think that's a moot point.

I'm really interested in what the OST will be, especially when exploring the world. Will it be mostly silent like in BoTW, or constant BGM such as Witcher 3?

Japanese traditional music is beautiful, the more the merrier imo.

My most anticipated game of the year. For some reason, I just love the setting of ancient Japan after the first time I lay my eyes on Onimusha on the PS2; the bamboo forest, the ghostly castles and the rice fields. Hopefully they get the combat and the setting right and I can see fans of Onimusha, Tenchu and Ninja Gaiden will flock to buy this game.

You can't forget fans of Assassins Creed, who have been begging for a Feudal Japan Assassins Creed since the first game, lol.

I recall them saying very early in the series that they wanted to avoid settings that were overdone, which I guess feudal Japan was at the time.

Can't wait for some tasty gameplay. Hopefully, they have learned their lessons from the Infamous games.

All of the concept art for this game so far has been absolutely stunning will be flustered if this is represented in-game.

I hope they go for an authentic samurai-era setting and not the westernized Bushido crap.

Well it si called the Ghost Of Tsushima. You can't be called a ghost if you are not supernatural. :D

Actually considering the main character is the last of his group that was supposed to have died but didn't and still 'haunts' the Mongols, using the term 'Ghost' in a non-supernatural way actually makes more sense.

Hm. It's good that they included the option, but I can't help but think it would be incredibly jarring to hear natives of feudal Japan (is it feudal?) speaking English.

Eh. Not anymore jarring than playing Persona in English when they all should be speaking Japanese.

The voice actor they got for Khan sounds really good.

So excited for this game. Loved all other SuckerPunch games. One thing that stands out though is the logo.

There's a Hardcore band from my town that has a similar O with triangles in it and have the name Ghost as well.

Could just be coincidence

I am lowkey hoping for some supernatural stuff, just because they've done so well with infamous, i like a bit of fantasy as well

Not every game set in feudal Japan needs ghosts and magic. Would be nice to have one game set there that is more grounded.

Always frustrating because that hasn't been the case for some time. I'm a bit sick of the periods that they pick myself.

Yeah, particularly galling when For Honour's Samurai faction look so damn cool.

From where did you get the story synopsis?

"The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan--until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population. As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But, honorable tactics won't lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting--the way of the Ghost--as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan."

"Steel and swordsmanship – you must master both to survive in this colossal quest across 1274 Japan, where the Mongol army has taken over Tsushima Island. Don your armour, sharpen your katana and strap on your longbow as you assume the role of Jin, a battered samurai who remains the island's only hope against the ruthless Khan and his vicious empire.

Through swaying bamboo forests, ornate castles and luscious landscapes one brave soul must fight back against overwhelming odds. Can you build your legend as "the Ghost" in a bloody tale of betrayal and sacrifice, inspired by classic samurai stories?"

Out of the 4 games Sony is focusing on during the conference, this one is the one I'm most interested in seeing gameplay of. Hope they keep it grounded, or at least low fantasy.

Thanks. but I still think some supernatural elements will be involved in the game. Nothing like Naruto or Ni-Oh or Onimusha of course but still, knowing the style of Sucker Punch. But what I care the most about is having a jumping button and mostly the ability to go on rooftops like the previous games. I just can't stand such typers of Open World games where you can't do that.

For people wondering about 100% realism being the target ;

It's possible the "Ghost" part in the title, combined with the imagery at the end of the reveal trailer looks like the protagonist may actually be someone who died, either to begin with or very early in game. This would leave it open for some sort of spirit abilities or supernatural magic to be viable in the story or gameplay, whether it's a personal plot like The Crow, or one on a bigger scale. Think being a samurai by day and a literal ghostly ninja at night. Being able to become a ghost (possibly only at night in game) sure would make stealth interesting if you could pass through one wall with a cooldown timer for example. As long as the enemies don't get buffed with powers and are challenging in other ways, it can retain a single element of curses and spookiness in the main character while keeping everything else grounded.

Even RDR had elements that had a weird supernatural tone (I Know You sidequest). I certainly think a supernatural element could very well fit the game, and it wouldn't bum me out at all if they don't go for 100% realism. The characters in the game can call me a demon and that'd be just fine with me, lol.

My take is the protagonist will spread the rumor that he is dead but he came back from the dead and will use irregular methods to corroborate that legend by estblishing fear in his opponents using some gas bombs and hallucinogenic darts to make them see him as monster or a ghostly figure. Something very similar to what Batman did, by faking his death and using scarecrow gas so all his enemies see him as the monster bat.

So damn hyped for this game. I love that I have 4 truly fantastic looking games being shown off at one conference with one possibly being the Samurai game I have always wanted.
