picked up the game from a friend to decide if i will buy it off him, got back, immediately played a few rounds: while the hit detection is indeed better compared to the beta ( no more ghost takedowns) there needs to be a respawn protection for 1-2 seconds, i am knocked out from other respawning people and i knock out people on respawn, that still isn´t cool, it´s very annoying!

and in 6 rounds i had one infinite loading screen before the match where it says: next event and then, nothing happens.
why can´t i go back when this occurs? only option was to shut down the application and restart, that is straight up bad

otherwise it´s very chaotic fun, biggest enemies are the own teammates it seems...some people from my own team straight up try to knock me out .-)

But there is spawn protection.
You respawn as a blue shimmering ghost that can't be touched.

The two nearest Best Buy stores didn't have a single copy of OnRush in stock. I tried pre-ordering it for pick up in store days ago and it wouldn't let me. Now I know why.

Was able to track down a copy at another location on the way home from work.

By the way, in the custom menu is there anyway of selecting snow or rain for instance, changing the seasons doesn't do anything for me, can't start an overdrive event in the snow for instance.

Gorgeous. You always make the best gifs.

i will give the game one thing: once it clicks then it clicks hard, this is seriously addicting! warts and all but man the fun lies in the detail here, that is seriously its own genre and when you get a grip on how to take down other cars it has this "one more round!" feeling and before you look an hour or two is gone...and i think the graphics are gorgeous for 60fps, hands down a real nice looking and performing game.

So addictive, and I haven't even played the full game yet.

Some of these vehicles seem totally nuts. Love the presentation overall. Not sure which one to dig into first, I mained Interceptor in the demo but the Charger seems like a riot. Outlaw and Enforcer feel like griefing central, lol

I played the shit out of Titan in the beta. MVP maker.

Ohhhhh goddddddd okay even though I really enjoyed the beta I must confess the collision detection in the full game feels so much better.

I don't know if it's placebo but it feels 100% more clear this time that t-boning an enemy vehicle needs to be done with the hood of the vehicle, and supercharging into enemies feels way more responsive somehow.

It's kind of a shame it wasn't this polished around the beta given how many people seemed turned off by the game because of it.

also a great thing is the mechanic that when you boost after a jump your vehicle comes faster down, so when you see someone from the other team driving under you
you just boost in the air and come down more quickly to smash him .-)

and yeah, the bumping with the front part is now much more clear than in the beta somehow...this game is really fun but i must say it didn´t click with me in the beta, only today i realized the real underlying mechanics more and the game is not about aggressive bumping into others but more abput avoiding getting bumped and tricking the enemy in situations where you can take them out. there IS clearly tactic involved in all the chaos and that is what makes this game great.

But there is spawn protection.

it is a tad too short when respawning in the pack, could be a second more

I'm trawling these reviews to find some inkling that I can enjoy this as a strictly single player experience - I realize I should branch out but I just ultimately have no interest in MP and am too old to change - as my time with the full version up to this point has not really convinced me of that. The Eurogamer review initially seemed to promise that but then I read "It's only when you start playing with the mindset you'd take into a multiplayer shooter, though, that Onrush really clicks into place" and I got sad again :( I'll keep trying, this team deserves every benefit of my doubt.
I'm surprised there is an SP mode. This is a competitive game that just happens to have cars.

Glad you guys enjoy the OT title! I'm usually really skeptical about those but I just couldn't pass the opportunity up...

Also. I think I'm just going to say screw it and buy it even though I really shouldn't lol I just want to feel the Rustch.

For what it's worth there are like no copies anywhere in Salt Lake. The 4 Bestbuys around me didn't get their copies today and my GameStop had 1 copy, for the entire store and only Xbox.

Delayed shipments might be why matches aren't filling up today.

I know it's anecdotal.

Wow - so glad i bought this.
Played around 3 hours and had a smile on my face all the time.

The game takes a few races to click, but then you just can't stop playing.
I enjoyed the SP so far and it does a good job to let you learn the vehicles and modes.
The addition of the side missions makes it even more fun for me.
The complete mayhem that just keeps on happening until the race is done is amazing, even more with a rock solid 60 fps.

MP was also fun as you can just bait people to their doom with the motorcycle.
I just keep myself in front of them as close as i can and guide them to the next obstacle where I just pull away the last second and let them crash.
Also the time until you are in the race is very short, makes it perfect for quick sessions.

The only thing i do not care about are the loot crates, but hey you can buy all the stuff with ingame currency if you really want something.

Of course there are issues - biggest ones for me so far:

Optical overkill - too much of everything sometimes.
You race in the snow, at night, surrounded by cars and effects and then some additional UI elements are blocking your view until you crash.
A little less would've been better, but maybe I will get used to it once i know the tracks and can drive them half blind.
Maybe even shorten the time the items stay on the screen would be a solution.

Bug in the zone mode.
It happened that the zone just spawned on top of an existing group.
Once that happens the zone is as good as lost for the other team.

I really hope more people will pick this up and there will be a strong community for a while.
Would be a shame to see this game tank, it's fresh and does not take itself too serious.
Of course i can see people be dissapointed if the expect a racing game, which it just isn't (in a traditional way).

I have to get up in 4,5 hours...but just one more race will be fine...or two...

Sticking with campaign for now.

You made the official thread but weren't planning on buying it at launch?

Both of my local Best Buy's had no copies. Only the largest store in my area got it. First time I've ever seen this for a game. Game is also selling very poorly on Amazon U.S.

Does anyone know what is happening with the PC version?
They've said they begin working on it when the consoles ship, so now. My guess is it's out in a few months.

Everything in this game is designed to keep you amped up and clamoring for another round. It all comes together really well. And I'm already finding some good battles within races that impart a little bit of the depth that I hope will continue as I get more familiar.

Ended up sticking with my preorder and picking it up today, and I'm glad I did. It's a lot of fun! There's a noticeable layer of polish when compared to the beta (which is rare to see these days, most betas are glorified demos), and it runs like a dream on my Pro. The track design is a ton of fun too.

My gripes so far are that some of the vehicle classes seem much more useful than others, and the Rush ability doesn't provide the speed boost I'd expect it too. Whenever I activate Rush, I want to blast forward and pile through enemies, but there are times when it feels like I'm gaining no speed at all.

There's one retailer here in Australia (Target) who isn't stocking it at all for some reason, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing is happening in different countries.

It's like there aren't any server issues for the game, so something IRL has to go and screw over Evo :(

I don't think any retailers are conspiring against this game. The most likely explanation is these retailers gauged interest so low they decided not to stock it or stock it in very low quantities.

Beat the first two sections of the single player, completed all the tasks also.

This game is fantastic, a completely different kind of arcade racing experience and I'm glad Codemasters made this.

The Superstar campaign is starting to get tougher, Switch is no joke, I actually failed one and had to restart all over and it was 3 events long.

Anyways I just unlocked Lockdown levels, more tomorrow morning.

Anyone else think this was going to release as a $20 digital-only title? Was shocked to see it for $59.99 on the store today. Not for any particular reason, mind you, just looked/felt like a smaller title from the footage/previews I saw.

Anyway, I'm glad these guys are making games again, I liked the Motorstorm series.

it's even 69,99€ here in Germany.

I have a hard time paying this much for a game, knowing that they get discounted to about 40€ after 2 month anyway...

Wow only 4 pages in the OT, I feel this game will be a huge flop....didnt enjoy the beta, expected a Motorstorm type of game, but instead it had some poor modes. I received my copy yesterday morning, but I only pre-ordered it to get the beta code and forgot to cancel the order lol will be sending it back today

I love this game so much. Definitely nails that Burnout/SSX vibe and all at lovely 60fps. It has so much hidden depth, my only complaint is its "Just one more go" hooks are so strong and I need some sleep.

It just chucks trophies at you too. I can see this becoming popular with the easy platinum hunters.

the game is really great fun but i have the privilege to test it out in depth because of a copy from a friend who didn´t like it and wants me to buy it off from him..(because he also wanted "just" racing)

So yeah, i have my fun but i also still think the game will flop very hard, which is on one hand understandable when looking into the aspect that the demanded price is a little high, which many people (me included) stated before release. But frankly, even for 20bucks less there would have been no crowd for this so maybe it was the right call to make it fullprice that they can even cover some of the costs with early adopters before the game will inevitably be reduced in price.(like every other game nowadays, full price is the privillege price to play on Day 1, nothing more these days)

On the other hand this release really shows how dense "gamers" are, they scream for something new and when there is something new they scream that this isn´t what they want and nobody picks up some new style stuff. In the 90ties we had games like Rock and Roll Racing which also was the same price, without any onlinemode and just a few cars...and we had fun.

i think many games nowadays aren´t even given a chance and doomed from the start which makes the whole affair sad. Other companies come with half broken or simply unfinished releases for full price and the people go there like flies on a pile of shit without asking or play their suggested "for free" Battle Royale commercial bullshit with battle passes attached. It is really baffling sometimes

Onrush is a genuinely FRESH take on the arcade "racing" (it is no racing per se) and could really be released as an arcade title if arcades were still around. The game is really great action, fun and also exciting when it clicks and i will buy it off my friend to have fun with it here and there, it is THE optimal "hop in, get in the zone and have some crazy fun" game, especially for the summertime!

I find the bikes pretty tricky to use. Sometimes I use blades Rush and I can get 4 takedowns immediately, but any other time and it's just a little tricky to get anything going. There were times where I used his ability on zone, and when timed right it would guarantee we captured that zone, which is more impactful than any other vehicle on the field in my opinion, but the huge amount of time between using Rush and building the next one, I feel very vulnerable / almost useless.

The slow motion when taking down an A.I. opponent is so satisfying. :D

Nice gif. I was actually in your lobby for quite a while last night (or with someone with the same name as you), playing as blade. Good games!

Anyone know if they are using some form of global illumination? It sure looks like it.

i don´t know but it is seriously impressive from a tech standpoint...between the looks, the onscreen action, the effects, the water splashing, the lighting..it is beautful..i had a round at dusk which transitioned to night with an aurora borealis in the sky, man i was thinking: "wow, this looks insane!" it all comes together so nicely

looking at the other vehicle games on PS4 and i say this is the one with the best graphics and tech...

I find the bikes pretty tricky to use. Sometimes I use blades Rush and I can get 4 takedowns immediately, but any other time and it's just a little tricky to get anything going.!

the bikes are like glasscannons with powerful specials but very squishy

I really wanna bite, Evo were a favourite studio of mine and I adore MotorStorm, but $100AUD is a really tough pill to swallow. I respect their decision to go for a full-priced RRP, but it's simply too far out of my price range, especially when WipEout Omega Collection (albeit a completely different situation), was slightly less than half that.

When it's a bit cheaper I'll join the likes of Shaneus
