Are they consumble, or you buy em once and you're good to go?
One buy lasts you the entire game.

It's actually great because there are no penalties for repairing/reinforcing equipment yourself. Same amount of souls and same amount of materials for reinforcement.

The only thing you need a blacksmith for is ascension, so going from +5 to +6, turning weapons into divine, lightning, etc.

Andre sells it for that price. The Undead Merchant will rip you off demanding 3000, the bugger.

But yeah, I remember on my first playthrough of the remaster, before descending into Blighttown, I was thinking about all of the titanite I'll be getting in Blighttown and how I'd have to go all the way back up just reinforce it. But then, a moment of clarity reminded me this was DS1, and realized and I can do it all on my own at the bonfire with the right stuff.

One thing I really like about DS1 that was strangely the only game to do it, you can do everything yourself at a bonfire.
you can't mod weapons (essentially go above +5, right?

Just summon help, if you can survive the first 5 seconds you should be ok. Run to the back and kill the dogs, hopefully your summon will distract Capra. The fight is pretty easy with the dogs gone.

Just cheesed it! I threw a few Firebombs over the wall, which took away half of Capra's health. Then ran in and finished him with the Bastard Sword.

Yea, when I started and got the rite, I thought it was like dark souls 2 where kindling or w/e they called it actually made enemies stronger so I had been avoiding it so far. Wish I hadn't lol

I loled. It makes perfect sense if you're coming from DkS2 though. Well congratulations, you just got a lot more Estus! :P

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I still feel guilty about cheesing Old King Doran in Demon's Souls by hitting him with poison cloud and exploiting a pathing bug to get him stuck behind a door while he slowly died.

Boooooo! Siegmeyer vanishes and resets at his original location if you attack him outside Sen's. I thought I'd be sneaky and get Titanite Demon to kill him!

Have you been to Dukes Archives yet? There are enemies outside the boss room there that drop twinkling with a very high drop rate. Once the boss of the area is done, it's worth farming them since the bonfire is so close.

You'd get some of this in the original even, I've noticed similar things when transitioning from the Parish to Darkroot and AL to Dukes. The areas have different lighting and the transition does seem to be awkward at times in the remaster. In the case of Blighttown, looking up, you're looking outside and up to Firelink Shrine itself, so the colour difference is because you're looking up to daylight and I guess the engine handles it this way, which isn't very pleasing to the eye of the player at times.
Sorry I don't think I explained very well - so this is when I'm running around in the swamp itself, ground level. I'm not talking about looking up toward the sky, I'm actually talking about moving the camera up so that it's pointing downward toward the ground. i.e. if I can see more of what's in front of me, the game is super dark, if I adjust so I'm looking more toward the ground, the lighting is much brighter. I'll try to capture some screenshots to demonstrate what I'm seeing.

Where can i find the ember that gives me the option to infuse my weapon and make it a quality build?

Large ember is at the beginning of the depths, takes weapons to +10. Very large is in New London, but you need to drain the water first. This one takes weapons to +15.

The natural scaling will improve on upgraded weapons, for the quality weapons I think the highest it goes for both Str and Dex would be a B?

Crystal Cave made me need to take a break from the game, the arcives balcony bonfire being the only one between it and after Seath and having to go through all of that mean cave to get to him is sadness. I just want my magic ember :(

I noticed this in a few areas in the Painted World. Adjusting the camera vertically dramatically altered the light level.

She usually gets stuck aggro'd to the ghosts above her if you haven't taken them all out - she can't attack them and they won't usually come down to her. She is wearing the ring, so if you've dealt with all the enemies she can help you in the Abyss - for what it's worth!

This was pretty silly on From's part, at the very least they could've made her able to attack the ghosts.

There's no ember for this similar to how you can make Quality weapons in Demon's Souls (where the phrase comes from) - Quality weapons in DS1 are just ones that scale equally (or well) with both STR and DEX like the Claymore.

Always felt bad for cheesing Gyn by running round a rock outcropping and hitting him through it with the Black Knight Halberd.

Second time I played it I summoned Soliare as I completed his quest line this time and felt it was only right. It was too easy though with gyn distracted to slap him with the Dragon Bone from behind.

Playing as a Sorceror parrymaster/backstabber with a knife this time and looking forward to beating Gyn proper. Made my guy look like Tommy Wiseau. Wiseau the wizard.

Worst part about the Four Kings is falling down into the Abyss and die due to a slightly extended staircase platform.

Also the boss gets an HP buff when you summon Beatrice? Fuck me then, I shouldn't have summoned her during those attempts if true

Welp, I'm not getting summoned at all near the O&S bonfire. Is this game already dead in PS4?

I've been having a similar problem today (also on PS4). It took an eternity to get summoned, had two fights against O&S in an hour. It's annoying because I was up for farming souls but it was a waste of time.

This evening I got to the catacombs, kindled both fires... and nobody to summon at either of them.

They get 50% more HP for each phantom you summon for the fight, whether it be human or NPC.

NPC phantoms generally have low DPS and are good just for creating a diversion. It's better to summon human phantoms since they tend to have much higher DPS that more than makes up for the increase in HP.

Some NPC phantoms can actually make some boss fights harder, notably 4 Kings and Gaping Dragon.

Please someone tell me they fixed that dumb arbitrary target lock range in DS2 and 3. I can deal with in normal gameplay, but it's such a pain in large boss fights. I just got killed by Manus because I took one step too many backwards just as he wounded up for his hand smash jump. The camera unlocked automatically, I rolled the wrong direction and boom, dead.

Ok thanks, and if I'm using on of those standard swords I can get it to +15 and add lightning/fire/magic to it right?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you wouldn't want to take a weapon all the way to +15 if you're going to make it fire, lightning, or magic.

+15 is for the "Normal" path. Once it's made fire, lightning, or something else it's on a different path. Take a weapon to +5 Normal, and then it can be converted to Fire, magic, or divine, where you upgrade it from there. Take a weapon to +10 and then you can convert it to Lightning. Taking a weapon to +15 is pointless if your plan is to take it to lightning, ultimately.

That is to say, if you take a weapon to +15, and make it Lightning, it is not suddenly Lightning +15. it's Lightning (+0).

I fucking hate that, and I'm sorry to say that it's still a bit of a problem in DS2 and 3. :\ It feels worse in DS1 at times though.

Goddamn, Manus. Every death so far has been by that bullshit grab-like attack of his. You can apparently escape from it, but I haven't been able to so far; he just slams me into the ground and kills me.

Ah, damn. Well like I said, it's mainly a boss thing. Part of the learning curve for bosses is to recognize what moves cause the target lock to release.

I'm about to approach the bed of chaos. Any tips?
You have to hit three target, all of them are 'guarded' by branches you got to destroy as well. Left and right have to be done first, then the middle one.

It starts easy and the first target should be destroyed very quickly. Then the fun starts. The floor crumbles and you have to make it to the other side while the boss tries to sweep you off the floor and into your death. Try to stick to the ring in front of the boss, which doesn't seem to crumble. And don't run. This may sound odd, but the boss doesn't perform those sweep attacks when you just walk to the next target. You still want to keep your shield up just in case, though.

The middle and last target is tricky, because you have to walk off the ledge in front of the boss onto a small platform below. Now the boss tries to sweep you off no matter what you do. The best strategy is to approach from the front and look for a small 'ledge' on the right. Wait a small distance from the edge for the boss to do the sweep attacks, than immediately walk off. Run forward and remain wary of any flame pillars the boss can summon. Hit the branches, then the bug and the boss is dead.

Okay, that's it. The navigation in this game is quite poor. I have no notion of where I'm supposed to go, and the game does little to no handholding in giving any idea where you're meant to go. I just got into the Valley of Drakes, and upon looknig at the wiki, it would seem this is near end-game... I haven't even reached Blight town yet

You chose master key as gift?

...try to remember what you unlocked with the master key and avoid going there...except...

You can run through to Blightown from Firelink though if you have master key. You can run there no problem, it takes about five minutes.

The regular way is after Depths -> Blightown.
