so i'll ask again....it seems this isnt a spin off...and is halo 6? maybe to the point that the reaction to 5 wasnt so well received so drop the #'s? shooting in the dark here

Do we have more details on this? Where we getting the Destiny thing from?
Nothing solid. It's just conjecture based on the title and the general vibe of the trailer with the vague things that Frankles has said in here.

It seems to definitely be the next mainline game in the series, technically Halo 6, but they are choosing not to call it that as they are designing it as a fresh jumping on point for new players, and may also be hinting at major series changes.

Is this the first time they have a name for their engine? IIRC, the engines for Halo have always been named according to the game (Halo 3 engine, Halo: Reach engine, etc.)

I'm hyped cause it's halo, but that trailer demo was not great. Too much wildlife and not enough battles.

But if they're trying to show us scale, then that's very interesting. Especially with the desert planet, shows variety. But again, the trailer didn't really do a good job showing off halo gameplay.

I know it's just an engine demo, but it won't come off that way to people who aren't aware.

I would have preferred a more "set up" battle with the covy in those worlds.

I'm going to guess we won't see anything until mid-2019, with release fall 2020. Is this going to be the longest time between Halo games? I'm surprised they didn't hire another studio to remake 3 or put Reach in MCC given the long wait.

That said, I'm hopeful... and willing to wait if the game is good.

So if this is clearly a fall 2019 game what does that say about the plans for next gen hardware?

Edit: Meant to say fall 2019 or later.

This trailer left me in a weird state. I'm hyped for new halo. But it left me cold. Perhaps I was just watching it too late on my phone. But there is something off about it to me

This trailer reminded of Breath of the Wild. Loved the Masterchief reveal and the ring world thing. Excited.

There was some talk (by the actor of Locke) that suggested the game after Halo 5 was supposed to be a spinoff focused on Locke. With the reception of Halo 5 those plans died and they had to go back to the drawing board. This seems to be much more in line with what made Halo great, big, open spaces instead of the more corridor type of games that Halo 4 and 5 have been. Going from those to an open world means you need a new engine, so you can add at least a year to the standard three year cycle. It also means a BR mode is much more likely now.

I'm going to require a significant number of receipts.

I'm so confused as to what this is. Is it Halo 6 or a different game in the meantime?

Picks up after Halo 5. Sounds like it's a soft reboot while continuing the story they established in 4/5.

So if this is clearly a fall 2019 game what does that say about the plans for next gen hardware?

I think the fact they didn't put a date on the trailer and that it wasn't gameplay heavily implies 2020. Would be shocked and delighted if it ended up as 2019.

I also hope this isn't too open world. I hate open world games. I like linear structures with open-ended sandboxes at key points. Give focus to my journey, but allow me freedom in how to get from Point A to Point B and let the gameplay systems be dynamic enough that my experience at Points A and B feel different enough from everyone else's experience at Points A and B.
well

it is on a halo ring... and because of that eventually you're forced to go forward... or backwards

Yeah my bad. I meant to say fall 2019 or later.

I wonder what this means for the engine, and next gen. Will this be super scalable? Still has to be able to run on OG Xbone hardware, but 2020 is so late in the game for the base model.

Considering they mention they will be having flights to allow people to test it, unless those flights are solely for PC I feel like this will be coming to Xbox One. Halo 4 was quite a looker for the 360, and that was late in lofe, so who knows.

Worse Halo trailer ever. Really know nothing about this game. What 343 did with Halo 5 and TMC is atrocious. This used to be a massive franchise. Halo needs a timeout and a complete reboot to its roots in a few years. The franchise needs a long break from the series to rekindle its hearts. People are so disgusted even the pros with Halo 5 that 343 and Microsoft have turned everyone away from Halo. Now releasing an unknown Halo trailer. Yes, unknown because the trailer was essentially pointless to show. This is not to way to win people back to the series.

A new Halo trailer used to break the internet. Now it is a forgotten memory. Thanks 343.

From their post on their website, it seems like they dont have any of that ready to show yet since it's so early in development. All they got in time for E3 is a tech demo and some tidbits. Even if they want to show more, they probably couldn't.
But it's E3 and there's a new halo in development so they wanted to show something.

It's fine. Better than that Star Wars bullshit from yesterday, where Respawn just says a name and DICE just throws up a headshot of Grievous.

Yeah that SW shit was atrocious. But still, I'm torn on this reveal. I get that it's just an engine demo, but the fact that it's not an actual gameplay demo, I find it makes the game look kinda bad tbh. Most people will see this as the game and will go: thats it??

Not a good delivery if you ask me

1. Literally no different than the reveal trailer for every other Halo game since 2.
2. Receipts?
3. It's almost as if industry trends shift and change over a decade of time
4. 4-5 years of no mainline game isn't enough?
5. You literally just stated this, the time between 5 and infinite is significant.
6. Pros love Halo 5 and it has literally never been in a better place
7. Repeating yourself again.
8. Repeating yourself, again. Are you also this angry that (GAME X) isn't as popular as it used to be?

A lot of potential here to have the best looking 60fps game on console ever. I just watched the trailer again, breathtaking stuff.

One of the stand-outs of E3 so far. If this is open world, and I think it's strongly hinting at it with the huge environments and new engine to support it, it looks like it could do for Halo what Breath of the Wild did for Zelda. You know as you were playing the early games and got the idea in your head: "imagine how cool it would be if I could go and explore this entire Halo installation?" If Infinite can deliver that, it could well be the best in the series. It's been nearly 3 years since H5 and this is likely going to launch late next year, if not early 2020 - I don't understand the "what has Bungie been doing all this time?" sentiment when it's obvious MS have given them more time to make something massive in scope.
