What this shows, is that the conferences don't matter as much as you think in the grand scheme of things. Building up anticipation and then showing content is more important than just a single conference filled to the brim with constant trailers.

Yeah, I actually dig something like the Sony approach (except for that really dumb start), but this was the most fun I've had at an Xbox Conference in a long ass time. They managed to cut out a lot of the chaff that's bogged them down the last few years.

We should be seeing the yearly social sentiment report on E3 shortly. The one that always declares #xbox as having more impact across social media by not factoring in the time zone(s) and length between conferences.

More views for PS4 games, but most people think Xbox won between the two. Interesting disparity

Once the hysterics die down and people actually stop to look at the event in terms of games announced/shown per system throughout E3 rather than purely going by knee-jerk reactions to the "on-the-night" theatrics it'll be clear which platform had the better showing.

I'm honestly surprised that The Last of Us 2 has had such a following. I thought it was a media and hardcore gamers darling, but not in general?

I mean, obviously. Spending more money so there are more 3rd party trailers at your show, which otherwise would be at some other show, isn't exactly the greatest of feats.

Surprised that Gears 5 is so low. Thought it looked great and first one that doesn't look nearly identical to the previous games.
They should consider giving that franchise a rest for a while though. Let people get hungry for more Gears.

For me, I liked Sony best. The Last of Us Part II is the best looking game I've seen and Spider-Man looks amazing. As a lifelong Spidey fan, this game is a dream come true, and I get to play it this year.

Wut? How could you possibly read that?

It looks like MS is going to be changing things up and have started investing big in gaming. They have the money, way more technical and intellectual people power, and are American (it is easier to suceed if you are American). If they have a solid gameplan, well all I am saying is I would not bet on a somewhat debt laden, conservative Japanese company.

This doesnt mean that PS will cease to exist, just that MS gaming will be bigger and more profitable.

I hate these, but I do think Microsoft had an amazing show. They showed off so much good content. My only negative for Sony is that they didn't have any release dates besides Control and RE2 that we didn't already know. They showed off amazing games but I still give my edge to Microsoft.

Sony has big exclusives planned for end of 2018 and early 2019 so I'm disappointed that we have no date for these

I don't think these numbers are correct.... For example Halo Infinite has been uploaded on multiple channels and has 2 million views on the Halo channel and 1.3 million on IGN.

Shouldn't you attempt to accumulate views instead of comparing the amount of views on the most watched upload of the video? The numbers would be different in that case.

I'm shocked that Gears 5 has so little views, it seems to be the best received game from MS conference
Really? Well I think it didn't look much better than the last effort which was weak. Spent a lot of the trailer trying to convey emotion but it lacked character and I don't care one bit about unknown grunts. Naming it Gears 5 probably doesn't help either. Feels old and tired which is probably why there was apathy from people even willing to watch.

This reminds me of the same stuff people were saying before THIS gen started.

The beginning really killed the Sony conference for me even after they stopped with the live music and started showing games back to back.

Regardless of the games actually shown, Microsoft had the better show this year.

The numbers show a really selective picture. The major channels where these videos are watched arent included. Halo Infinite has over 3 Mio views on Xbox + Halo channels alone.

Like I said in the conference thread, MS had the better set up but despite showing 5x? the games, there was actually far more games I wanted to play from Sony's showing. I think MS showed too many (of which were mostly on PS4 anyways) and it lessened the impact.

Only surprise is how low Gears 5 is. I know the franchise lost a lot of steam after 3, but that was a good showing.

The Last of Us is huge too, surprised at the surprise.

No, my argument is that Sony didn't show a fucking logo and say clap for us. They showed trailers AND actual gameplay. Sure MS showed Gears, which looked great to me, but other than that what did we get that's new and exciting? Crackdown has been the same story every year, so I'm sorry but that shit just doesn't count. Forza Horizon looks great, but honestly there was zero question it was going to be there. It's the only franchise MS has actually committed to on a regular timeline. The games that were announced last year at Sony's conference, were playable at this one. I'm happy MS is investing in gaming, but touting a list of acquisitions doesn't give me anything to play in the near future. They even relied on the crutch from last year, by making mention of awesome new hardware coming. At some point, MS need to start delivering exclusive games. I love my X, but I have nothing exclusive to play, and the conference did nothing to change that for me.

This right here. While I enjoyed my Xbox, I sold my X to get maximum value now because it was clear that I wasn't going to be playing anything I couldn't play on my PS4 for the next couple of years. Hope they right the situation and I'm happy they've expanded, but that does absolutely nothing for me in the meantime and lurking era and repeating "best place for multiplats" doesn't either, so I saw little reason to wait it out.

If shit looks good in two years, I'll be on board for their next console for sure assuming that I'm not done with gaming by then.

PlayStation is headquartered in America, the PlayStation arm of Sony is basically an American company. Also the market is bigger than America, that's why PS4 has such a lead on Xbox in terms of sales. PS4 is the leader globally, Xbox only does well in a few markets.

Even with Microsoft's projected investment in studios, Sony has a larger stable of talented developers who have had experience developing AAA hits. Microsoft is starting from the ground up with some of these devs, and not all of their older dev studios have produced hits lately.

Yeah that is kind of what I was seeing too. I'm not 100% sure but the combined numbers of the Halo channel and IGN put it easily over 3 million and it has more uploads elsewhere. I don't think the numbers are correct at all.

Going by YouTube Halo and PlayStation accounts

Infinite is at 2 mill and Last of Us at 2.7mill

Ghost of Tsushima is a 1.9 mill my game of the show

I think that shows mindshare
