Dope, I'm just excited for g mutations in re engine ...

I hope the two final Birkin forms blow minds

We expecting a decent length on each campaign? I assume both are very different to one another in terms of unique locations , bosses etc

I don't know how long since there's a LOT I don't know, like I don't know maybe half the areas in the game, or the final result of some things, and just a lot of things in general, but yes. One thing I know for certain is the game is much longer than the original RE2. The areas from RE2 make up less than half of the game from what I hear. Also both campaigns have area differences, one I can speak on is I know Leon's campaign starts at a Gas Station and its Pitstop Store, while Claire's campaign starts at an entirely different point (a Diner I think, but I may be wrong on her's) before they meet up, and then get separated. Not only will both campaigns go to new locations that weren't in RE2 and be a lot longer than RE2s campaign, they have more differences to each other than the original RE2 did.

They Can Continue Action Coop in Rev 3 or new subserie.

They could or just make sure all RE games going forward have a good balance of horror, creepy atmosphere and action too.

I mean, why even bother calling it Resident Evil if it lacks the horror elements that made the series popular in the first place, might as well just make a new IP for that. RE4 nailed action with horror and is considered one of the best in the series by many, so it doesn't need to be one way or the other to keep both sides happy.

Can anyone care to explain to me what's this fixed camera thing that people are complaining about? The demo posted here looked impressive and the over the shoulder perspective gave me RE4 vibes which is what i wanted out of Re7 but Re7 went FPS perspective which was still great though. So tell me if it's following RE4's approach to camera perspective and overall game play feel, why are people angry about it?

some people didn't like RE4 and where that game sent the series. me included.

thankfully though, this doesn't seem to play anything like RE4. so while i still would prefer it to have classic fixed cameras, the way it is is an ok compromise. real puzzles, much slower paced, no karate kicking zombies while they're staggered or massive hordes to deal with, it litterally is an OTS resident evil 2, not ideal, but not a deal breaker either.

the only things i really do not like is leons face which has no semblance of consistency with how leon has ever looked. and the soundtrack. the rest seems pretty good.

This looks really good. I only played the first Resident Evil on the original Playstation back in the day and forever reason missed RE2 and didn't pick back up with the series until RE4. Really excited to play this for the first time.

I didn't see anyone fight the licker yet, but I saw it sneaking outside a first or second floor window. And then this...

If they completely remixed many of the Licker appearances (beyond the first) so that they could appear at any time in said certain places if you're too quick or sudden with your movement, that would be awesome. Same could even apply to the zombies themselves. Lickers fucking them up would be cool to see depending on how noisy they are.

They kinda could do some dynamic stuff, like if you're very quick and have high accuracy, they make the zombies quicker for example.

I've seen one video quickly this morning and didn't notice it, but do the zombies stay on the ground after you kill them ?

Would be amazing to have Crimson Heads return in this game...

Because Resident Evil/Biohazard is About Virus and B.O.W.S not just horror
After Umbrella Downfall Many Company make their own Virus and B.O.W.S to Sell Terrorist.
That why Chris,Jill Form B.S.A.A. and RE 5,6 go full blow action because of that.

Graphics look amazing. What's with this mans aim though haha

Also noticed that Leon still has a bite mark on his neck from earlier in the demo...damage still shows on the character? Cool.

???

The Virus and B.O.W.S are a core part of the horror though, have been since the original game on PS1, so that is not a reason to suddenly drop the horror in favour of just action.

Was wondering this in the other thread but wanted to ask here:

I don't want to spoil myself so only checked out about a few minutes or so of no-commentary gameplay footage. My question is: has anyone heard any real soundtrack music yet? Does music kind of pop in at some point after the initial 'reveal' of the area for added drama or is there just no music in this game?

This is really dodgy reasoning. Why would easily-changeable plot details dictate the style of game?

Just some hints of the save room music so far. The sound mix is probably one of the last things they will do so I wouldn't draw any conclusions from this footage.

This is a difficult game to remake. Being one of the most beloved Playstation games of all time fans will have crazy expectations and different opinions on how to tackle this.

I'm saying this because after watching the videos I'm a bit sore they changed the scenarios, making it bloodier and darker and significantly changed the progression.

I guess I just expected revamped mechanics and graphics but the same experience ( which is still fucking amazing. I play this and RE3 every year). I'm just being a nitpicky fan, though. I'm really happy this is happenning after all.

Yeah, because of the realistic look of everything a Licker should actually not ignore the zombies, unless there is an explanation, like it can detect, say smell, the - what is it, the T?- virus and ignore infected beings accordingly. I noticed a lot of explanations in the demo to make some, well, odd or out of the ordinary things seem more, well, plausible. Like the note book with the drawing of the statue and the hidden passage to the sewers. In the original RE2 you would just look for amulets and stuff in desk drawers, when an item like that would have no reason in the world for being there. It seems with the amount of realism in the graphics the script tries to work in explanations for those kind of quirky things now. Still, a really big issue is Leon being bitten and then healing himself with a spray or herbs instead of turning.

I am also happy there are light switches and fuse boxes that allow you to restore the power and turn the light on in certain areas. And the ability to board up windows is a nice addition too.

The game is also spot on as a remake. All those memorable first moments from the original, while just coming in the police station, can easily be recognized in the demo playthroughs of the remake. And of course, it is also a gorgeous looking game too. But the gore is something else entirely, though. The the torn off torso scene struck me hard, I didn't expect that at all.

Really hope Capcom will suprise us and release the demo in upcoming weeks for us to play at home.

You're looking for a remaster.

This is a full on remake. Not saying you're wrong, but that your expectations are completely different from the scope of this project.

Not anymore when many terroist use them to fuck up city/world and character try to stop them.
All Re horror mostly it come from accdient/virus leak and character get set up or go wrong place wrong times and try to escape.

When I played Resident evil 2 back in my young days, that game blew my mind.

This remake looks like a work of art and I will buy it day one. Mr X is back in 2019....

I just realized I never truly beat the first resident evil.

I did beat Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil Nemesis, the amazing resident evil game on Dreamcast, and Resident Evil 4 on gamecube.

Seeing this I hope they bring the core series back to this gameplay style and make it a super scary survival game like this one seems to be. Not a fan of new first person cam and character designs.

All Re horror mostly it come from accdient/virus leak and character get set up or go wrong place wrong times.

A terrorist releasing the virus or a B.O.W in any city would still result in the same scenario as the virus getting out by accident ( just like Raccoon City with Zombies and Monsters killing people) so that still doesn't explain why RE needs to be all action and no horror.

I can't imagine them completely leaving out any music seeing how iconic the original's OST is but then again the series really hasn't had much in-game music since RE4 if I'm correct? I really didn't play 5 past the halfway point and only vaguely dabbled in 6...

Did Leon constantly talk to himself in the original?

No and I really hope he shuts the fuck up quickly because I can't stand that style of Nathan Drake hyperactivity.

I really, really liked the whole house/middle section of RE7 and surprisingly so but this one looks miles ahead to me as well.

He did not, but for the record, though I don't know this, I get the feeling he's talking a lot in that first scene in the East Hall due to being a rookie and having to face undead coworkers and fail to save one of them. He quiets down on the chatter after that scene notably in all the videos.

I think it's a good character touch actually. If he chatted the whole game constantly, that'd be one thing. But I think it works for that scene and the occasional quip.

Was wondering this about the music as well. Quiet and exposition-y in the Intro segment area basically and then things fall into their normal groove. Also wondering if (maybe they showed this and I haven't seen it yet) you get to turn on the power for, mostly, full lights etc. and it coincides with that...would be cool?

Can't wait for the Claire preview to help give us all the information we need.
I forgot how pissed off she looked in the REV2 artwork and I love it.
My only concern now that we know there's no scenarios, is that Leon's campaign will have a bit more effort put into it than Claire's because he's the MVP.

Claire's plot and side characters was always the stronger of the two for me.
I had this same thought. Hopefully they both get good attention.
I don't know, there was a point in development the alligator kept being cut, then put back in, then cut, then put back in (as well as this one new monster in the sewer section, but I won't blab anymore than that), but I don't know the final result of that. I think it may make it in since it's a memorable scene of RE2 though, but like other parts of the game the sewer has seen some pretty drastic overhauls and when I heard about it there was some big changes being done to the sewers at the time.
Say what. The gator is like one of the most memorable encounters in the game. It has to be in.

Thanks for all the info btw Dusk, it's been very exciting.

I don't think they will leave it out, they probably just haven't recorded the new version yet. The mention of the classic score is what leads me to believe that they are re-recording it.

The music was sparse enough in RE5 and RE7, but fairly prominent in RER1/2 IIRC (someone can probably correct me here). I have consumed mass amounts of drugs and alcohol specifically to forget RE6 so I won't comment on that one.

The thought of him showing up in new and unexpected places already makes me shit bricks lol

Anyone notice right at the end of the first (reveal) trailer, after the release date, when it shows the close up of Mr X, it looks like a claw or something comes out of his chest / stabs him ? are we going to get a Mr X vs William Birkin showdown or maybe something else ?

3.19 on the trailer.
