The hyperbole in this thread is ridiculous. Pumping out genre defining titles like Zelda and Mario isn't going to happen every year. They had everything lined up for year one and did not anticipate the wild success of year one. Nobody did.
Yet here they are in year two with a sequel to the best selling Pokémon generation, Smash with every single character that's ever been in the franchise (many that have been changed), a brand new Kirby that sold above expectations, a couple of Mario spinoffs poised to do the same, ports of old titles from Wii U that did better than their original releases, a bevy of indies headlined by the excellent Hollow Knight, and third party support that's still better than what they've had in the past. Not to mention getting one of the biggest games in the world. We're also going to have at least one more direct with some potential for the early year of 2019 before their fiscal year ends. Stop with the drive by "lolz ports" and the doom and gloom forecasts. When was the last time a console has ever done worse in its second year than its first? If nearly 18 million is what was sold in the first year then it's safe to predict at least another 18 million.
What you all are forgetting is that last year's hits are still relevant. Just to use an anecdote, most of my friends don't have Switches. One just received one as a present and he's raving about Zelda and Mario Kart. Another is in the market just for Mario Kart. For all of you that bought a Switch last year and played these last year, great! Nintendo isn't targeting you to sell you another console. But there are still a lot of people that didn't buy a Switch last year and there is a reason Nintendo has kept last year's games relevant with continuous updates and DLC.
Nintendo has had a much better initial two years than the Xbox One or PS4. I'm not sure how some of you can be so down on the Switch. And that's before we consider how stacked 2019 is guaranteed to be with Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Daemons X Machina, Pokémon mainline, and likely Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4.
