Watching the CAPCOM stream, anyone else felt like the sidepack is available a bit too early? In 20 minutes starting the RPD there is already an inventory expansion. Unless the pre-RPD section of the game was greatly expanded now.

Yes, and that was an issue I had with RE7 as well, and this time large weapons don't even take up multiple spaces. Though with stuff like boards and fuses and perhaps more puzzle items you might also require a lot more item spaces. It all depends on how they balance it. But I like having to plan what to take at item boxes, and generally not feeling like I'm able to take everything I'd like to have. Compromise creates tension.

  • The RE engine is a hell of an engine. It's by far the best one I've seen in a long time, and proves that Capcom still have their status as tech gods.
  • The zombies are buff as hell. I saw a zombie take a shotgun blast to the head, a knife defensive attack, 4 bullets to the head, and they still weren't sure if he was dead when he hit the ground so they pumped him with 3 more headshots for good measure. This game is 100% survival horror.
  • Can't wait to see Birkin's transformations in this engine, they're gonna look extremely grotesque and awesome.

How do yo guys feel about this related to RE2? honest questions. Do you guys feel its seems easier? worst in any way? references may be lost? voice acting?

I want to read what RE2 fans thinks because i had some sort of mixed feelings. I love what im seeing but i'm scared that i may not be able to enjoy this game as much as i did with REmake. And is odd considering that i don't like that much the original RE but i consider REmake one of my top 10 games of all time, and RE2 is probably my favorite Resident Evil game (incluying RE4 and RE7).

What do you guys think/feel about REmake 2? is gonna be praised as high as REmake?

RE2 is my favorite game in the series and I have Leon's first scenario down entirely to memory to where I know the exact path to take to get every item to it's proper spot without having to backtrack to item boxes or missed pick ups, and I couldn't be any more excited. This is exactly how I saw RE2 in my head when playing as a kid and everything I wanted from the series since RE4. The only thing I'm somewhat unsure of is how fast Leon can move while shooting (though moving slower may make it easier to run and gun, so maybe it's give and take there) and all the little icons that pop up everywhere. Leon's voice acting is great, he's a bit too chatty in some of the playthroughs though, but like the icons, I can see that just being an early demo thing and edited down enough when the game comes out. Obviously, this isn't out yet but I can definitely see this getting loved just as much as REmake.

As far as it was mentioned in the thread this was Mr. X and he got attack by something, the Licker or Birkim, who knows, maybe even something new. Maybe he has new attacks now, could be the case for all enemies outside the general zombies.

New enemies would be great, but just seeing all the old abominations with the new graphic technology will be disgusting enough.



I know it's all been said about the technical side but how the hell did they get that face so life-like and creepy? The expressions, including Leon, are crazy.

Not sure about the exact name but something called "Photometry", I believe they take photos of real people and make these in 3D models. For zombies you can create these with make-up, etc. and then simply can them to have a wide variety of enemies. They used that in RE7 as well if you look at Jack Backer, etc. .

No A/B. Leon and Claire get their own expanded, meaty campaigns.

HUNK and Tofu are in the game.

I believe you can disable the icons just like in RE7. He will probably stop chatting once he gets used to fighting undead and hardens up a bit more. At the start it makes sense to have him chatter more as he sees colleagues trying to eat his flesh.

As far as I have read in this thread, Claire Campaign, Leon Campaign are different and can't interact with each other, both get expanded areas and stuff. I have seen people say that Hunk and Tofu are confirmed.

I haven't paused it and looked closely, don't want to spoil to much. It for sure will look disgusting, given that the theme of the game is dark and wet.

So I come to the jail to workout and the gym is in the basement. Let's just say after this reveal and all these videos it's creeping me out a little. I pass by many open and closed doors and it's completely dead with the only sounds being water in the pipes. The jail houses 100's of inmates that I can hear banging around above me on occasion.

What a dream this remake is, it's all I can think about game wise at the moment.

I would assume that too, but I really hope they're in-depth with the customization of it. Like give me the ability to remove them off doors and maybe make them only pop up on items when I'm standing right in front of it and looking at it. Silent Hill: Downpour had a really good system where you could turn off all icons and tells but if you were right next to an item it would glow, keeping immersion but not making things missable or obtuse. I'm hoping for something like that here.

Man these videos, its incredible, its everything I could have dreamed of. The key thing when taking an old location to OTS view was how to do you make cramped hallways with simple zombies scary when you can just blast everything in the head or move around easier. What they have done with the zombies just works, it takes multiple bullets just like the old games. Leon doesn't have many new moves, no melee attacks for instance. The aiming is almost as simple as it was before, aim up, center or down but now with more hit points that have a reaction. The end result of damage out put is the same, zombies are obstacles in your path that will reduce your bullet count and are pesky enough in these tight hallways to get a hold of you if you arent careful running around them. The essence of that entire dynamic from the old games is totally intact and it needed to be intact for this to work.

The aiming part of the combat will really shine in boss battles or against fast moving enemies. Now the battle against G-type doesn't have to be run, turn shoot in general direction, run, turn shoot in general direction and repeat. You can do things like move while aiming, have some form of context dodges. Give the bosses clear weak points where aiming is key. Have aiming at specific limbs stun the boss out of an attack. You can turn the weakest part of the old games combat into a huge strength while maintaining the balance of not making this game feel like an action game. Also this will be great for lickers, cerberus, birds, things that are supposed to be fast an agile, now aiming skill is key.

Its the hybrid take the positives of the RE4 aiming but make it a true classic RE game I have waited for since RE4. We have seen hints of it, in the RE5 DLC, in Revelations, but they never really went full old school style until now.

Wow Irons was nuts in the original, but this is way beyond that (I mean besides the taxidermy thing...)

Damn, they're going all hard on this. Irons was a sadist but this seems a little bit too "plain text" for me.

My assumption is they want to expand his role in that sorta' older "RE Crazy" (IE, like Alfred in Code Veronica, Lucas in RE7, Salazar in RE4, etc.) so they can do some interesting scenarios with him. Having Irons want to have fun with the remaining survivors allows for a few twisted and different gameplay scenarios in RPD. Honestly, he was a bit over-the-top mad in the original, just he barely appeared before the G-Adult is birthed out of him. Hoping they can spin some interesting little scenarios out of him.

The scenarios they can come up with. With this tech you can do really crazy setpieces, something not really possible in the old games. Imagine a room with hostages and some contraption thats on a timer and you need to fight stuff while solving a puzzle or people die. I hope the new areas really have some stand out new gameplay moments. As many mentioned having Mr.X chase you around constantly will be incredible. We know RE7 had wall destruction, we know RE2 absolutely had walls being destroyed, the question is how many. Will it just be the media room? Many new rooms?

The wood planks make it seem like they really want to make navigating areas again strategic. I just wonder will it be on a specific progression trigger like the zombies coming thorough the windows were in the original or will they just repopulate every time you come back.

I almost expect them to make him into a boss monster or something, maybe even giving him a Lisa Trevor style expanded role.

I low key hope that the unintentionally dumb AI moments aren't completely gone in the full release.


That gameplay snippet that someone posted here where a zombie attacks a table and Leon keeps cursing it is too damn hilarious to miss out.

Yeah I did ;) the map actually shows 2F and 3F at the same time ! Unfortunately 3F can only be seen on the white sheets of paper.

Taxidermy room has been renamed "Private Collection room", you can see the beginning of "Chief Irons Room" above. 2F seems largely unchanged in the west wing.

I wonder if Lickers and other enemy types are going to be able to show damage similar to Zombies? Blasting a distinct hole in a licker with a shotgun would be awesome.

You can see the whole 3rd floor and 2f East Wing, which is mostly the same as original except a new staircase outside the Chief's Office, which goes up to a new room and down to the Interrogation Room
