So is this actually good?

I never finished the single player in the base game because it was so boring and repetitive.
I'd like to know as well. I only did a handful of levels in the main game but quit after finding them tedious. Is this completely different or just a better designed version of those kind of levels? I found the campaign in Splatoon 1 to be completely throwaway too.

The challenges in this are much more specific than the main story. Themes are repeated quite a bit but they are short and usually involve some crazy twists that ramp up the challenge each time. You got stuff like "guide a ball to the end of the level", "avoid enemy attacks (without access to a weapon) for a specific time period", "defeat all enemies within the time limit", "ride the rails to the end of the level (where you have to shoot every target along the way to open up your path)", bullet hell boss fights, "complete the level with a limited ink supply", etc.

IIRC I saw someone mention that the BotW shrine devs worked on these levels? If so, it shows in the sense that there are multiple variations on these level themes that increase in complexity as you progress. It seems a little short so far, I think I'm a decent 1/3 of the way through the missions but there are multiple weapons you can choose for some so there might be incentive to go back through after completing them for the first time.

If you found all SP campaigns to be throwaway idk if you'd dig this. Levels here are much more focused on perfecting a specific mechanic but the base gameplay is the same. Definitely more specific than just running and gunning through a platforming stage tho

Well guys tell me, It"'s worth it's price?

I don't hace splatoon 2 because it's an online focused game, heard that they main campaign was cool but very short (around 5 hours with 0 replayability).

What's so special about this DLC? Seems like it's only a bunch of ccallenges, correct me if i'm mistaken.

I'm very anti-multiplayer & Splatoon 1/2 are the only multiplayer-focused games I love. I have yet to finish the single-player modes of either game, not because they're bad, but because the multiplayer is too fun.

This DLC is tempting me to buckle down & finish the story mode though since the DLC campaign sounds awesome.

More octo haircuts would be stellar. I was kinda disappointed with the options we got here. They just don't have the flair that I see in the octo NPCs.

But it might also be the lack of goggles. Seeing the octolings' eyes has been really weirding me out because I'm so used to either the Inklings' eye style or the damn goggles.

How many challenges do you have to complete to get the playable Octolings?

Is this available in Australia yet? I believe it was supposed to go up earlier today, but my eShop still shows 31 July. :(

If you "pass" a level by using the glitch, do you still get the figure thing? Also, does it count as if you passed it legit?

That went... off the rails.

Tartar got a point.

Shame he had to BLEND AN OBSCENE NUMBER OF OCTOLINGS.

I didn't see anything with a quick Google, but I wanted to respond in case nobody does for a while. Traditionally, Nintendo games will not give you the collectables if you use the "pass" option to beat a level (at least from my experience with their more recent games that give you an option like that if you die enough times). I assume it wouldn't be different here. You likely will be able to skip the level but not get anything for it.

I gotta go to sleep in a bit, but if nobody responds to you by the time I'm up tomorrow I'll give it a test run and let you know!

I beat it while only skipping the white subway line but otherwise i did every other mission. Ended up with like 40k credits

Like aside from the lack of new enemy types and maybe reusing the same gimmick too often (too much 8-ball) its very good. Final boss especially is far more interesting than the one in the base game.

Its hilarious how a splatoon DLC does a better job offering substantial content AND story than BoTW did. Makes me more upset at Champions Ballad.

Really should have named this OT| Octo-path Traveler

Had fun with this last night, but the upload arrived so late, I didn't get to play long. Good to see that you don't really need to complete regular SP before jumping in, since it has tutorials and all. I wouldn't mind another expansion like this somewhere down the line.

How long did it take you to beat?

Beat it earlier and flaunted my Octoling in multiplayer a little bit before switching back to my Inkling. A lot of good single player content in there, it's worth the $20 I think. Struggled in the final boss more than I think I should've though.

This is quite a bit more challenging than the main game's single player. Really loving the atmosphere!

Oh man, I love this so much

Having them embed the demo version of Ebb and Flow was so good.

Can you actually buy this thing standalone digital? I mean, i just searched for Splatoon 2 on my (PAL) eshop and it only showed me 2 things:

- Splatoon 2 base game

- Splatoon 2 base game + Octo expanasion

....?

edit: OR, does eshop actually check and can tell that i do NOT own Splatoon 2 base yet therefore it only shows the combo packs then?

Yes, you can. Select the base game w/ Octo Expansion and there will be a link provided for the Expansion alone. You simply have to scroll down a bit to find it.

Edit: This is assuming you already have the base game. Of course you wouldn't be able to play the expansion without it.
