I believe we are going to get a multiplayer beta next year and the game will launch in 2020 as a launch tittle for the next gen Xbox but with a cross gen version for Xbox One owners

Building a game on the scale of Halo takes hundreds of people with different skills and building a brand new engine from scratch takes even more time and resources

I secretly think you just wait to rebut my posts. You clearly take issue any time I write and especially about the lore. Edited the term for you, I guess it's no longer said anymore? I mean on urban dictionary the best result for the term mentions it being used with the example of the glassing of Madrigal from 2010...

Again, your justifications for all that is literally because 343 said it. That was what I meant about the power of the pen. They can say tomorrow Cortana created this new Installation all by herself and we'll accept it because we have to.

My point about using the 'lore' is that people like you who consume everything cannot separate the games from it. Someone who played CE to H4 would have a much different understanding of what humanity would have rather than someone who read the novels in between mentioning hidden outer colonies that survived blah blah. My point is Gears 4 handled their 'not really finished' fight better than 343 did. There were rumors they wanted it 50 years after H3 ended which would have made sense but then they couldn't necessarily use the AI rampancy after so many years narrative etc. Beyond this, you feel the way you want and I'll do what I want. If you use the ignore function you'll never read my posts again so I think it's for the best. Peace Poodle.

Gears is thematically totally different from Halo. Comparing how they treat the aftermath of a conflict makes no sense.

They've talked about doing "flights" instead of an all/nothing public beta, so I'm thinking they'll start rolling it out sometime late next year, then open it up sometime in the Spring of 2020.

you should go listen to Hunt the truth. Very well done and the only audio series i have actually bothered to listen to.

The only thing it did for me was build up hype for the potential Halo 5 was going to be. then it released and all of the amazing talent and mystery for HTT went out the window. lol

Def take a listen. Soooooo good. Again, i dont read or listen to audio stories and this got my attention.

The Created storyline is what is going on with Cortana at the moment, that's just what she calls her new faction of rebellious AI. The Hunt the Truth stuff was the marketing campaign for Halo 5, and represented a story that was far different than what we received.
Sounds like something that would only irritate me about H5's campaign further lol. The TV spot whiplash was already real.

Aren't the 4v4, Arena, and Hardcore playlists objective?

Mixed objective with low weighting I'm sure. We'll also see a range of objective games away from bomb and flag, again I'm sure of that (think god awful territories). Also I don't like arena/hardcore settings, don't play it and given the population of Halo 5 arena I'd suggest WZ and content sustain was more responsible for H5's player retention. There's no vehicles, small maps, MLG/no radar basically. Not for me or my friends.

The fall from maps and modes like ranked clan objective in Halo 2 makes me unhappy. I'll give it plenty of time and a range of playlists but it's again not what I and friends would choose to play. Likely the same old will happen, objective in a mixed playlist will load up and a couple of slayer purists will quit making the game balance suck and it's a waste of time for everyone. Counter that with Playlist Toggles and those wanting to play objective would actually match and play the whole game out.

Shit even Halo 3 ranked objective had a good sized following for a bloody long time. It was certainly just as competitive as a MLG playlist at the 50 level.

I see theres no vanilla 4v4 outside of CE. They should atlease have some H2 and 3 BRs or something. I also hope slayer isn't weighted heavy, people who prefer slayer should just got to that playlist. I won't miss SMGs or AR starts though.

Postums talked about this a bit on the Discord. Historically, it's a playlist everybody asks for but nobody seems to actually play. Hope it gets in eventually but I get why it's not.

Sure I've seen that over the online life between H2-H5. My issue is so much is based on the quality of maps and focus on bomb/flag from the developer. When was the last awesome asymmetrical map designed purely for flag or bomb with light vehicles and executed to the standard of Halo 2 or 3? Maps like burial mounds, relic, zanzibar, ascension, ivory tower, high ground, ghost town, longshore, headlong. Now move into the symmetrical objective with light vehicles such valhalla, avalanche, waterworks, containment.

There is a population skewing element of other objective modes mixed in with map designs in games past Halo 3 DLC. Reach/DLC, 4 & 5 all basically abandoned developer designed maps for flag/bomb or had poor quality and game outcomes. Variants of MLG oddball, territories, DLC requirements (tempest etc) all point to a downfall of flag and bomb modes/maps. Players and population never really left IMO, the quality and dedication for flag/bomb left and it's reflected in what people want to play.

Also factor in ranks went all slayer and MLG based after Halo 3 DLC dropped, again objective simply wasn't given the care or spotlight as it once had. Social aspects of objective were a joke, here you had parties mixed with randies and teams of objective 50s griefing social constantly. Again developer led mistakes not a player population issue. Cause and effect. So devs with Bungie & sprinkling of 343 mixed playlists. Ugh, slayer players/parties don't want objective games and objective players/parties don't want slayer games. So slayers quit objective games and reflect that in frequenting dedicated slayer playlists. Objective guys stick it out in a mixed playlist as they simply have no other option.

I don't argue that slayer isn't insanely more popular but objective when done right is the pinnacle of Halo IMO.

Once again I harp on matchmaking toggles, regardless of population being low or medium pure objective players/parties can play what they want. The net result in matchmaking overall, as most will simply use default all on, is little effect for the masses. However players not getting to play what they want actually get a say in waiting to play what they choose.

You want Halo to be popular again? Make great maps and modes that players can load up at a time of their choosing. Don't force feed best guesses or assumptions that developer based playlists create.

I have vague recollection of some nonsense in Halo 3 objectives, like having one-flag/one-bomb (not to be confused with neutral versions) in Valhalla or other symmetrical maps. Like why?
And then there was the idiocy of putting one-sided territories to BTB (or was it neutral, either way they got locked down once captured). It wasn't interesting nor dynamic.
Also too much neutral flag/bomb, though the game mode itself is OK. Though i feel the flag visibility and timer settings weren't really ideal.
Oh and AR starts in any of these. Maybe they got fixed eventually, but goddamn that is one mistake that is being made again and again...

I wish I could understand why they felt like AR/Smg starts we're worth preserving.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in these meetings.

SMG starts and AR starts should be gone from Halo 2 and 3 completely.

Found it funny, so I clipped it.

Anyways. Lots of big PC streamers interested in Halo Infinite. Don't screw it up 343i! Please. :|

I'd like to get a poll of who actually preferred AR and smg starts in those games. I feel like if they didn't carry over to MCC no one would question the decision. Seeing smg starts in H2A continues to baffle me.

Inb4 Fyrewulff extols the Halo Patrician's preference for pulse trigger shot AR gunplay.

4 BTB playlists in the updated MCC? The only fair way to do it but it won't be pretty a month in. I doubt H:CE BTB will survive until Christmas, there just aren't that many CE BTB players out there, certainly not many who would favour it over the later incarnations (whose games' BTB they have online nostalgia for).

Long term, I still only see H3 and mayyyyybe H2 being able to sustain healthily populated BTB playlists. 343 have done this in the interest of fairness and it allows them to pull the plug on multiple BTB lists months after the update when they can point to the numbers to justify it.

H2A MP should just be removed altogether.
