People should be careful about reading too much into these numbers.
That being said, they really should give Gears and Halo a break for a while and work on something new. I've lost interest in both franchises for a while (although I want to see more about Infinite) because they just seemed like they had become meathead shooters rather than interesting sci-fi.
I'm glad Gears 5 is going in another direction, but it might not be enough to deter the fatigue. I'd like to see new IP, but that's not even strictly necessary. They have a big well there, let's see a new Fable or Perfect Dark. But I'm not going to read the death of the Gears franchise into some YouTube play count. I'm sure the game will still do decently well.
Glad to see all the interest in Death Stranding, the most exciting exclusive IP from E3. I want the game industry to be unafraid to go in this direction of, taking big, grandiose, creative risks. Even if there are some Heaven's Gate style failures (which I don't think DS will be).
There aren't enough games pushing the art of the medium forward. There are a lot of good games, but a lot of them are a bit too much of the safe crowd-pleasing blockbuster variety.
