Wonder if Legendary will boot Hardwick out of Nerdist. He doesn't own it anymore, his long term contract is over and even though he's technically CEO he hasn't been day to day management for a while. Probably only thing they can do to stop talent bleeding.

Pretty awkward for Jonah Ray right after he helped to produce Rape Jokes, he'll have to drop Hardwick ASAP.

Glad to see the momentum is starting to get him out of the positions he tried to stand on while throwing shit down on others

Good on him. Though I don't blame anyone who decides to stay. A job is a rare thing these days for some people.

I hope the guy finds work quickly.

Same. Weinberg has his finger in a few pies so he'll probably be alright. Speaking as a journalist myself I don't have anywhere near the level of security/confidence to make a principled leap like this. Good on him but most journos aren't in a position to be so noble.

As someone who loved Nerdist and Midnight this sucks. I'm glad it has come to light and she got her say and hopefully he'll get his comeuppance. I'm just bummed I spent the amount of time I did watching and listening to this dude, and it also sucks because I love Jonah Ray and Matt Mira and they still pal around with him. I hope he's removed from all his Comic-Con duties and immediately taken off of all his AMC projects.

I was talking with a friend about potentially going to see his show up here in October, as April Richardson is opening for him and I like her a lot. My friend said he seemed kinda shady, and I said I wasn't sure because I only know him from Go Bayside episodes, but I guess she was right. I highly doubt Apey opens for him after this, and even if she does, we won't be there.

Really not hard to delete two paragraphs from an About page on a Wordpress hosted site and click update. They probably even did it from one of their phones.

I think the sentiment is more about the quick decision to distance themselves there than it is the actual action of editing a webpage

Jesus Christ. Yesterday I would have said Hardwick seems like a genuine nice guy. Listened to a lot of his podcast and would have never even had a notion that he wasn't a sweetheart. This so eye opening and really puts the dudes entire output in a new light. I'm glad Chloe is opening up about this.

Just realized it's like 9:44 on that side of the country. Hell of a start to a Friday. They'll probably make a statement by the afternoon and have more to say on Monday.

Hardwick got deleted. Good riddance.

Now it's AMC and Comic Con's turn.

The second season of his more traditional one-on-one talk show premieres this Sunday on AMC. Donald Glover is the guest.

Does it air?
Good chance AMC will cancel his contract and the show and not air it.

Which is a huge blow to every other person working on the show. Unless they brought it an emergency replacement host, but I don't even know if they can (legal reasons).

There are plenty of people they could get to host at the last minute, especially for a show that airs after one of the most popular shows on cable.

It's not about finding a replacement, it's about whether they can legally. He's a producer, and potentially has some ownership of the show. If so, he'd still financially benefit from the show. Same reason Roseanne without Roseanne is a problem.

If I were them I would ask Jessica Chobot if she wanted to host it.

It's a live talk show with a couch and a table. They can cancel Talking Dead, and relaunch it as a completely new show with a new host and title with no effort at all. And get a new couch too.

That is fucked up. smh

Never trusted the dude. Something always seemed off.

edit: i see the responses in the last few pages about saying something like this. Interesting because there are a lot of responses that are similar to it.

Might be a little weird to go with someone part of Nerdist.

There's going to be a weird period of everyone trying to distance themselves from him, which is fine, but it also inherently means Nerdist too, even though it's a much bigger company than him (and owned by Legendary).

We're talking about the talk show that starts airing this Sunday, which has already been filmed. It's just called "Talking with Chris Hardwick."
I think they're only half reading most of the things in the thread.

If he was a sober alcoholic, I think it is reasonable that he would not want to be in a relationship with someone who casually drinks alcohol for a fear of relapse. Of course it would be better for him to look for someone who does not do drugs anyway, and the tone here is certainly problematic, but the general stance is understandable.

Also, even if it is not about a possible relapse of himself, he might have gained a very negative perspective on the effect of alcohol on humans and may want to avoid an intimate relationship with someone who consumes alcohol. Communicated in a calm manner I cannot see how this is abusive. For other drugs, including the legal nicotine, it is not uncommon for people to not want to be in a relationship with people who consume them, why would that suddenly be abuse if applied to alcohol?

Its not even close to reasonable to use that kind of language. He was using words that denote ownership

I'm morbidly curious about how he responds.

She even prepared for that. Look at her PS:
PS: To the man who tried to ruin my future: A sincere and heartfelt apology could have made my last four years a hell of a lot easier. The person I used to date would try to sue me due to pride- I would not recommend it. I have audio/video that will support and prove many of the things I've stated in this post. I've chosen not to include it for your sake, in the hopes that the person you've become will do the right thing.

I too want to see what he does with that hanging over him.

Just put a big disclaimer at the beginning of the show with a link to Chloe's Medium post so millions will read it.

Then delete him from AMC.

I... don't think they're going to put up a, "The host of the following show has been accused of abusing his ex. Please visit the following blog for more information. Enjoy the show!" disclaimer before the show starts.

It's so, so easy to get trapped in an abusive relationship. Especially if you are young and inexperienced. Those that say she should have left don't understand the amount of pressure abusers put on their victims. Sometimes its impossible to leave.

Mainstream media reporting on it. No way AMC airs it now. Out at Nerdist, out at AMC and Comic Con would get absolutely crucified if they didn't drop him.

And she pretty much said it all could've been avoided if he apologized.
