Yeah. I'm personally really, really furious about this because it was a conversation I had with Chris that put me on the path I've been on for the past decade. He's literally the reason I am who I am today, and I don't know how to reconcile that right now. I'm so angry.

He's not the person you thought he was. I remember having my career because of a mentor. If he behaved this way, it would sear my memory too. But the best you can do is be the best version of yourself. Your work is why you are who you are, ultimately.

Thanks. It's alright, this thread isn't about me, I don't really need anybody's support or anything. I'm just trying to work through this anger. But I appreciate the sentiment.

I just really hope now that all of this is out in the open, Chloe can get back into the industry and have her blacklisting removed. I haven't seen her guest on anything in a long time.

I'm from Brazil so sometimes I have blindspots to stuff like "who the fuck is Chris Hardwick" which I knew as the guy that ran some panels at SDCC, but weirdly enough I did see Chloe Dykstra on stuff before and actually remembered who she is before I could remember who the fuck Hardwick is. I think I saw her the first time on Kinda Funny, two years ago:

She just released a film, here's a trailer for it:

Why did she stay in this relationship? Seems all of this was at the start, had I had been the male best friend, I would have told her to get out, that the guy didn't respect her. (not trying to blame her for any of this, I just genuinely find it disturbing that someone can start a relationship this way, with someone who obviously doesn't want to be in this kind of relationship... I'm sure there is a kink like this, since this is basically 50 shades)

Edit: going to read the article and see whats up with this, maybe she thought he was joking? how long were they together... I need answers.

Edit2: "These were just a few of them. And I made the choice to accept his controlling behavior, as he'd just left his long-term girlfriend and I assumed that he was going through some serious emotional discomfort. This was a huge mistake."

That does clear up her thinking a bit. I can understand that and herself being a vulnerable target; because of past issues she mentions.

I can't understand guys like him, but he is the type of person I avoid in my life, you can't see people this way, especially those closest to you. It's like he views his partner as some sort of pet.

Then maybe you shouldn't talk about something you never experienced?

Many of these sociopaths came across as charming and caring person until you get to know them for a while.

Then they start treating you like crap, making you think that it's because of you they changed. Maybe if you have been different, they won't act like this. Coupled that with constant lying and gaslighting, you start to doubt yourself.

Occasionally there'll be sprinkle of kindness, making you think maybe things will be different now. But it never will. By then you have so much invested in the relationship, it's hard to see a way out.

Reminds me of John Cena and how he speaks to the Bella he is with. Though he is in no way as extreme/cruel, but I could see those emotionless words coming out of his mouth.

Which is why the Hardwick thing is odd, cause hes tiny, not imposing and hard to take seriously.

Makes it even weirder, some american psycho shit.

People need to read the full letter.
It is so much worse than what's in the op...

It's really heart breaking that abusive dipshits like that are around, destroying lives, and gathering large fanbases while doing so, ready to defend them.

All sorts of people can manage to lord over you because power is wielded in a variety of intimidating ways. It just takes a sick fuck to do it, which leaves the rest of us bewildered.

This is so frustrating. I enjoyed the podcast quite a bit. Why did he have to be such a piece of shit.
Whatever. I hope Chloe is okay. Really sucks she had to go through that.

Hardwick always felt like an obnoxious douche to me apprently he is a million times worse. Good for Chloe for getting out and having some ammo ready if he were to go after her.

Meanwhile, something I've noticed from the Nerdist camp is bothering the fuck out of me. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt since the website itself was updated very fast, but there's something happening right now that's not a good look. I never associated Nerdist with Hardwick, but I do associate that website/channel with someone, just like I associated IGN with Naomi. Here's hoping I won't get disappointed.

I don't know anything about Naomi, but Nerdist had to do what they did. Hardwick created the site and is the guy who came up with the word Nerdist in the first place. His name was all over the damn thing.

The only thing the people currently running the site could do was scrub him. I'm sure they'll have an official statement themselves (beyond the one we got on Deadline) soon. It's still only barely lunch time on a Friday over in LA.

AMC is going to drop him within 48 hours and Comic-Con will announce a different moderator like immediately following that.

You really shouldn't be making vague posts like this. Say what you meant, please.

Having actually enjoyed his work over the years, it couldn't be more disappointing to find out what sort of person he really is. Very sorry to hear what she went through.

This weirds me out because Chris Hardwick always reminded me of my brother...like in terms of personality and humor.

I don't like the "I could see this coming!" angle but I agree when I watched Midnight for a bit all of his jokes always felt oddly telegraphed, and though I hate to borrow an all-right term he struck me as a dude who legit used leftist talking points as social currency.

Yeah, I mean... this isn't a good look, notice the timing:

I get her siding with Lydia, since she's potentially as much of a victim as Chloe was. But silence would be better than... this. Especially when I noticed this from last year:

I'm confused. That first tweet looks like it's about that flute player during the E3 presentation? I'm out of my element here as I'm not invested in ANY of these personalities, but I don't understand how linking that when she did is a bad look?

The person Chobot retweeted also posted in support of Dysktra. They're talking about the Ghost of Tsushima guy, I seriously doubt Chobot is using that to subtweet in defense of an abuser.

I don't understand what you're doing. Are you actually going through the Twitter feeds of people to try and find this stuff? What's the point of what you're trying to do here?

What is the point of you showing us a year old tweet from Chloe to Jessica?

Read the letter in full. My God, Chloe Dykstra did not deserve the psychological abuse she went through. That's one more shit-bag abuser reminding me yet again that I have a terrible sense of character.

Hardwick needs to take responsibility for his actions. What he did was inhuman and he does not deserve to be silent about this.

I think he's saying Chobot is running damage control?

Not really damage control, but siding with Hardwick when she should be supporting Chloe, like literally all "Nerd twitter" is doing. I think it's understandable because we are talking about people she knows personally, but I'd argue that complete silence would be better than this. I truly want to be wrong about this and hence why I wasn't clear enough on my initial reaction.

I'm honestly not trying to be antagonistic here, but I'm not following. What am I missing here? The tweet linked has nothing to do with Hardwick, and in fact the person linked posted in support of Chloe elsewhere in their feed.

Yeah, I'm honestly not understanding these posts. What does the timing on Jessica Chobot posting about that flute player have to do with anything at all?

You need to pull back here.

You're seeking out additional drama. Focus on the situation at hand, don't try to find vague tweets that may or may not mean something and then post them here, especially when you clearly didn't even look into the tweet itself before posting it.

I was following Jessica and Nerdist and opened my twitter. I did a search because I was weirded out by how Jessica reacted compared with others and linked this to the part of her post where she says that someone she considered a friend helped Hardwick on blacklisting her. My point is that it seems that Chloe has been trying to fix this thing for a while now. It seems to be more than the emotional and sexual abuse, but the very fact that Hardwick also screwed her over professionally.

After reading through all the "clarification" posts, I still have no idea what you were trying to get to with all these passive aggressive, incoherent posts.

You're trying to make multiple points, but not clearly making a singular one, and all of these different feelings you have are confusing, and not cohesive enough to form an actual focus.

How about this. You put yourself on that path. Everyone you meet along the way is really just side dressing for your ultimate goals.

Don't trust me though, I don't believe in anything.

The weird thing is that in retrospect this all sounds exactly in character for him but no, you couldn't really see this coming. Glad to see the Nerdist making distance and I hope others (particularly Jonah) do too. And wishing Dykstra luck in moving on after this to a more fulflling, happy life. That digging for water metaphor is really powerful and I'm actually shocked to see that there are people who don't get it.

Mombot is a freaking gamergate account.
Yeah that is all off topic because it's not about Hardwick, but what the hell man
Probably not even Japanese. That's the person who made all those dumb "Here's how Fire Emblem Fates should've actually been translated" images.
Ironic that this thread would contain an actual good example of "Don't just trust everything you see retweeted." I trust Chloe though.

You randomly brought up a tweet from Chloe to Jessica from a year ago, giving absolutely no context as to why you were showing us that tweet.

I think ZattMurdock is trying to imply that Chobot is the person who helped sabotage Chloe's career, and because she retweeted an account that has been pro-GG before (even if..well, the account is 100% right on the specific topic that the tweets are about), that was supposed to be some kind of proof that Chobot was the person who helped Hardwick.
