To be fair, and who knows if it turns out whether he deserves it or not, if he took too long to comment, people would start theorizing and maybe bring out the pitchforks.
Mark Burnett also won't release the Apprentice tapes of Trump apparently being racist as fuck, so I doubt he'll give a fuck about Hardwick.
He's been pretty outspoken about his problems with depression and anxiety. I'm not going to say for certain that he didn't know but I've never been a fan of guilt by association and I'm not going to assume shit just because.
Internet society is at a point currently where a prominent figure who remains silent can and likely will be lambasted just as viciously as the actual abuser. So I don't really think staying silent is an option for him, even though it absolutely should be.

You say you have sympathy for Wil but everything about this comment says you don't.
This is the only reasonable explanation for a tweet like this, but it still doesn't make Wil's response any less blundered. It doesn't matter how close of friends they were or how hard this is for him. If you can't promptly and conclusively condemn abuse, then you've got a problem. It's a disappointing and crappy response. I understand it's hard and I expect he'll follow it up with something more substantive, but as it stands it's pretty weak.

I get what you're saying, but I think the only reason he said what he said at all was because people were probably screaming at him about it and he felt like he needed to say something so people knew he wasn't just ignoring the topic.

Agreed. Sorry for the derail. This thread should be about supporting Chloe and (to a lesser extent) excoriating Hardwick for being an abuser. Nonetheless I think it's fair to take some issue with Wil's response. Leave it at that.

I don't and I think you are being unreasonable. Hardwick deserves all the shit he gets for this and Chloe needs the support but Wil's response is fine and doesn't deserve issues taken with it.

In my life, one of the strongest traits to have as a friend is the ability , strength and willingness to call your friends out on their shit more than anyone else.
Everyone needs to be put in check sometime in their life, I hope and expect my friends to do this and they have when needed.
Ehh... I don't know about you, but if one of my friends, some of which I've been close friends with for nearly 20 years now, turned out to have done something similar, I'd be too shook to come up with a different response on the same day.

A friend of mine had some unpleasant experiences with Chris Hardwick, so I'm not surprised he's like this with women. My friend is a guy, by the way, and this was more on the business end than the personal end.

I dont know either of these people, but I think I saw Chloe once during the launch of the Xbox One at E3. I might be misremembering it, but I seem to recall her interviewing Major Nelson about Titanfall. He was wearing a stupid hat. I remember thinking she seemed "realer" than the people MS had hired for the show, which if I remember right was Kevin Pereirra and Jessica Chobot.
I wonder if this is why he moved away from the Nerdist stuff. It felt weird he decided to essentially dump his huge (for a podcast network) brand and re-name his show. Wonder if his being a creep was a known factor among the higher ups and they wanted to distance themselves before it all imploded.
