Anyone have video link with good gameplay (with no commentary if possible)?

I looked at Gamespot video & the player is lousy at shooting, it annoys me... /: (

I actually just updated the OP with the videos, but here's the best video from E3 I think. It has the best recording quality, and only some commentary for the first 50 seconds, then none for the rest of the video:

Still remember going to buy the original Resident Evil 2.

My mum let me have the morning off from school and she took me into town. We went straight to Woolworths, RIP, then back home on the very next bus. Saw some others from school on the opposite bus going in on the way back so they must have had the same idea.

I only got to play up until the gun shop bit then had to go to school for the afternoon. My mum gave me a note saying I'd been to the dentist in the morning.

E3 just ended and I'm already craving new information. The next 7 months are going to be extremely painful.

Ugh, i really wish this didn't use identical UI to RE7. It's so boring and flacid here compared to the original inventory menu.

Watching multiple videos I realized that dresser/locker/whatever Leon has to push out of the way has the yellow tape holding it closed,
wonder if that can be cut open after you get the knife.

Well it damn well should be!

And hell they should remake 1 in this style! I actually downloaded REmake and whew... this hasnt aged well

I dunno If i can go back after seeing how RE2 remake plays

I am enjoying RE7 again. Gonna try and finish it this time
I totally disagree. REmake HAS aged beautifully and looks, at times, a current gen title. This still looks like it will be much better nonetheless

Some thoughts after watching Capcom's twitch stream:

- What I love the most is how fucking SCARY zombies are again. They were never this horrifying in a RE game before...maybe any game. They really have that ravenous flesh-eating undead quality, and from a creature design standpoint alone they scare you. You can practically smell their corpses rotting away, and look at how disgusting it is when you see bullets render their flesh. In classic RE, zombies were a joke. Repetitive shuffling and moaning sounds, arms outstretched like frankenstein, easy to run past, cannon fodder grunts, etc. But in this one each zombie could be the primary monster antagonist in a lesser horror movie or game. And in numbers they cause legit panic. They can even pursue you into other rooms! I say this as someone who hasn't cared about zombie games since the first Dying Light, and before that, REmake. I thought I felt all the feels zombie games had to offer, but I was wrong!

- I really, really miss the laser sight though. It must have not controlled as smoothly as the crosshair.

- What if one of the unlockables is a first person mode? plzplzplzplz

- Wonder if the OG soundtrack DLC will include the classic item menu sounds?

I would hope that they would do something new and original with graphics and atmosphere like this but I'll take a REmake too.

I think a big reason they've gone with the crosshair is because of the way it works in this game where you have to stand still and wait a second for the crosshair to get small so it gets the perfect shot. And the way it gets bigger/your shot gets worse as you move.

By the way do we know if this game is made by the same dev team as RE7 or not?

Did anyone else already point out Mr.X gets rekt by Birkin at the end of the e3 trailer? Did that happen in the original?

Yep, it was probably tested for a while and consensus was that it felt better. I like how it kinda turns aiming & shooting into a minigame, but the stylish laser sight will be missed.

I see some posts about RE2 reusing RE7 UI. Well let me tell you this: Original RE2 and RE3 reused UI from RE1. NO ONE complained. Capcom cleared saw that UI as a part of Resident Evil brand back then. So imo with this new wave of survival horror RE games Capcom will use this UI for all new games (RE7, RE2make, RE8, RE3make and so on). I do believe they will modify the UI for every game a little, but it will still be immidiately recognizable.

I like the simplicity of the ui, but I'm a graphic designer so maybe less is more

Seriously, I just want to turn off or minimalize the item indicators, they are way too big.

My only complain with the UI is that ECG diagram that appears when you're hurt. It doesn't fit there and looks really forced, like it's there just for the sake of nostalgia.

you can turn them off
I only watched few minuts to go as fresh as possible.
Does Leon turn head towards items as he passes them?

I would like minimal indication, since it was easy to find items in prerendered backgrounds by just spamming X and going along the wall, here it won't be as easy.

This is me purely speculating, but I think that Mr. X and Birkin may function sorta' like Jack from RE7, just... Not him and more RE2-like where they dynamically roam and area and can travel through rooms. My current guess from the teaser quip is that Claire deals with Mr. X first (as we see it's Claire hiding from Mr. X) while Leon deals with William Birkin and defeats Birkin's first form. Then Birkin mutates into Phase 2 and takes out Mr. X in the scene we see after she's been trying to get away from Mr. X's stalking. At this point Birkin replaces him as Claire's primary stalking antagonist (as Birkin is looking for Sherry and finds her with Claire). Meanwhile, Leon has to deal with Phase 2 Mr. X when Mr. X rejuvenates and let's go of his power restricting bonds to turn into the full T-102 form. I think both Leon and Claire will deal with Phase 3 and 4 Birkin.

I could be completely off, but I'm placing my bets Leon deals with Birkin Phase 1 & Mr. X Phase 2, while Claire deals with Mr. X Phase 1 and Birkin Phase 2. I think after Birkin takes our Mr. X there in that scene in Claire's campaign, and then Mr. X comes back as his ripped nude form and Leon will have to handle that, while Claire has to handle the mutated Birkin Phase 2.

They were also easier to spot because most interactable objects were 3d, so they were visible on prerendered backgrounds. Also, the use of fixed camera angles helped pointing out important objects and background elements.

I believe the map will not only show which rooms have been fully explored like in REmake, but it will also show which items you've yet to pick up in the ones you haven't (I'm assuming you need to spot them in the first place).

I can confirm this from watching through the E3 gameplay videos. The map works like REmake/Zero in that a you don't see rooms you haven't visited until you get a map. Once you have a map, the rooms you haven't visited are grayed out, rooms you've visited but not collected/done everything in are red, and rooms you've cleared everything in are blue. If you got close enough to an item (as in, got close enough to have an item icon pop-up in-game to prompt you to pick up said item up) but didn't pick it up, that item will show up on your map. Saw this happen in the example of an herb one player skipped but got close enough to look at.

this is so weird ??? I've seen other footage and the front door is blocked off

20minutesofresidentevilkn9.png

Maybe Marvin barricades it after you go into the East Wing.
