The only thing missing from this DLC is test chamber narration from either Ellen McLain or JK Simmons.

The one where you run around to destroy targets, I don't know if it was easier with other weapons but with the roller, I needed right to the utmost end to destroy the last one.

How similar is this expansion to the original single player mode?

I don't why the original SP never grabbed me. It has some great level design and inventive bosses plus all the Splatoon charm.

I bought the expansion and I'm looking forward to play it but want to beat the original SP first (left it at the last world)

It's its own thing. As many said before this feels a lot more like Portal than the Splatoon single player, and the challanges are brutal and original.

It has a shit ton of content. To fully complete the SP you need to finish each level with every weapon... That alone takes a considerable amount of time. Octo expansion is more of a challenge room thing, where each test focuses on a single theme and just goes nuts with it.

Also Salmon run has become my go to local MP game with friends.
Please tell me i dont have to do every single stage with the roller to finish the SP mode

Whew, finished the Expansion last night, although not completely, just enough to get the Octolings but I will go back and clear the rest. What an ending every Splatoon fan should definitely experience it. Also, I was very lucky and was able to beat the don't get hit one in my second try but I ended up skipping the Girl Power challenge, its too much

I don't understand the Girl Power Station complaints but then again I'm also sitting here thinking not nearly enough people are complaining about Ride with Me Station so I guess we all have our kryptonite. That thing made me want to abandon the idea of going for 100%.

I finished the DLC last night and I remember Mr. Nogami mentioning in an earlier interview in nintendo minute that the neon-bands that Agent 8 is wearing has some hidden/deeper meaning but I don't think I picked it up during the gameplay?
Or did I miss a conversation because I was too busy getting salty at some levels?

here is the video with the interview I am talking about:

These balloon levels are making me straight up pissed off. I can do the others fine, but you need to be perfect on those and I keep failing. I love this game but these challenges are rough.

Some of these are straight up impossible. The one where you have to blow up all the boxes in one hit is just random. I'm on one now with the roll up things but the one near the goal can't be hit on the surface or the air. So many times you just have to make a suicide jump just to see what works.

Tips on baloons: Try changing your weapon if you have difficulty hitting them.

Pearl says Marina is "way to smart for her own good". Typo or just trying to make Pearl look dumb?
I like the chat logs for having the characters chatting in a pretty believable way, so I took it as a typo on Pearl's behalf.

It's a lot different, and I find it a lot more fun. They're more creative than the vanilla levels and have you doing things unique to these levels. It's objective-oriented whereas the base campaign are courses that are only about getting to the end (and the occasional octoling skirmish and boss fight).

Oh my god that one was horrible

I solved it and I have literally no idea how I did it

Jesus, that secret boss was no joke. This was a great expansion (and the cutscenes featuring Off The Hook were awesome) but part of me kind of wishes the difficulty was toned down just a bit.

Secret boss reward spoiler:
I have to admit, after calming down from the insanity/intensity that was the Inner Agent 3 fight, I was pretty amused that the reward has Special Charge Up as a main ability.

I know I'm in the extreme minority here but I'm really disappointed. This is unforgivingly hard in many areas and the fact that I now need to grind to try again if it's entry price is too high....that's bullshit. I'm so mad right now.

Quite different. Instead of a pretty linear progression, you're given a subway with stage progression similar to Super Mario Bros. 3. You are given the option to skip stages should you be unable to complete them, but doing so won't net you a whole Mem Cake.

If the original Single Player never grabbed you, then prepare your butt, cause some of the challenges here require your full attention.

You don't need to grind to try again. Just get a Game Over, and Marina will start you out back with 3000 CQ.

After hearing so many complaints about the game's original single player campaign being boring and too easy, I'm still pretty amused by how many are now railing on the expansion for being "bullshit hard" at points. Like others have said though, I feel like everybody has those certain kinds of challenges that they struggle with while others aren't so bad. I beat Girl Power Station and Move It Move It on my second attempt each after a small change in strategy, meanwhile one of the rail-grinding-box-shooting challenges had me caught up for much longer.

I really feel like they designed this expansion with the assumption that you've done most of the original Hero Mode content already so there's a presumption of competence right from the start, and the challenges are designed to get you from "competent" to "high performance" in a hurry. I'm glad they're not easy, and once a few lines open up there's almost always a wealth of possible challenges to pick from of various point-costs, so I don't feel like having to repeat a level multiple times to grind points is ever really necessary.

Wait is there a secret boss after the statue? I'm seeing people talking about it; what do you have to do to unlock it?

Whoever ok'd this secret fight shouldn't be allowed to make games anymore. I'm gonna put this one on the shelf until I get a pro controller cause the dinky little joycon ones aren't cutting against an opponent with unlimited ink and perfect accuracy.

I did get a game over on a boss in the final phase. No loan. Just had to go back to the 200 point levels. I tried the level again and it said insufficient points.

Fuck this. This fucking 8 ball bullshit. It's hard enough doing it with just the ball, but when you have enemies and then platforms that can shrink. Fuck. I'm on the train to fuck town.

This is the main reason I haven't bought it yet I all for failing challenges multiple times but thats sound horrible.

The one with the sniper weapon and balloon fish things? You literally just had to hit the bottom one so it exploded in the centre, or is there another one?

You shouldn't need to grind at all.

if you don't have enough credit, pearl should give you extra

I don't think I ever came close to running out of credits. I ended up with like 40000 by the end.

I haven't got anywhere close to running out of credits yet. Every time I got stuck on a stage I would move onto another one and come back later. It meant that I was still earning credits from other stages rather than losing them all on one. I also focused on finding the other rail lines and the bonus you get from new lines helps.

Yeah I'm also chiming in with never getting close to running out of credits. I still have about half of the levels to go though so who knows what the the other levels might bring.

It's not so much the difficulty, as the bullshit of redoing a stage over and over and over.

I'm at 35/80 now and can't say I've struggled much. I'm a pretty casual Splatoon player, online I've managed to reach S rank once in Rainmaker as my best. Really enjoying this! Not really liked any SP Splatoon until this.
